NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE. I am in absolute disbelief that this "company" is still allowed to exist.
On Monday, I tested positive for COVID and fell incredibly ill. I emailed my therapist before the 48 hour mark for my appointment on Wednesday. I did not hear back from him, so I emailed the "support" email. No response. Now it is Wednesday and I called the hotline to confirm that SOMEONE has received my emails and will help me reschedule my appointment. The customer service representative told me that they could not cancel my appointment without charging me $135 due to it being within 48 hours. When I explained that I have proof of reaching out to my therapist prior to this deadline, he said they can't verify that and will be charging me if I don't show up. I am a BRAND NEW client and will NEVER return back to this company. I followed the correct steps to cancel my appointment and avoid getting my INCREDIBLY health-conscious therapist ill, just to be charged anyway?! All of this while being so sick I can hardly stand up.
Just READ these horrible reviews on just this site or any other- it is COMPLETELY evident that this is an embarrassment to therapy and helping humans get the resources they need. Also...I was returning to my therapist to give him a second chance but I have never felt so uncomfortable in a session before. He had hardly any idea what to say and was reading questions off a crumpled piece of paper. Who is Thriveworks hiring???? I am so disappointed and will be following up on this charge until it is removed.

Hi Amanda, this is the complete opposite of the experience we want anyone to have at Thriveworks. It's our goal to make sure every client has a positive experience at our practice, and the experience you've described with billing sounds really frustrating. It’s clear that we really fell short. We'd like to hear more about what happened. Would you consider reaching out to ***********************?

Beware: This company has an expensive cancellation policy.
They require 48 hours' notice to cancel an appointment. I tried to cancel an appointment with 24 hours' notice due to a family emergency, but their customer service was adamant about enforcing the fee.
The second time, my child had a telehealth appointment, but there was no link to access the session. I contacted their customer service and was told I would still be charged.
This company causes more harm than good. It appears they are more focused on collecting fees than actually helping.

BEWARE!! My therapist did not show to our 8am appointment. Then called me at 9am and asking why I wasn’t at our appointment. I then proceeded to tell her our appointment was at 8am and I have the proof to show it. And that since she couldn’t be bothered to keep her own appointments, I had to reschedule with someone else. I am a single mother to a special needs child and I have always been hesitant to go to therapy but I knew I needed to speak to someone badly as sometimes it’s a lot to handle on my own. So to be stood up for my first therapy appointment, did not give me a lot of hope for therapy. All this was on October 1st. Then on October 7th I get an email that I have been charged a $135 cancellation fee. The audacity to steal money while people are struggling with the state of the world right now is baffling! I have called and received a refund. This is my first and only time trying to use Thriveworks. And I will be canceling the appointment that I rescheduled. If 8am was too early for you to get up and do your job, then maybe you shouldn’t have had it as an availability in your schedule :)

I should have came here to read the reviews before using Thriveworks. I was looking for therapy and possibly restarting some medications. While I was making the appointment, they asked for credit card information for cancellation purposes. Thriveworks billed me $570, $220 for a therapy appointment and $350 for a psychiatry appointment BEFORE they went through insurance. They only went through insurance once I called to complain about the charges. They agreed to refund me in 7-10 business days and send me a new bill for what insurance didn't cover. 12 business days later I call and they refuse to refund me because only 1 of my explanation of benefits have come back and they haven't received the 2nd one. They refused to refund me for the 1 appointment until they had insurance approval for both, even though they billed me separately for the appointments. So be prepared to pay upfront and fight with them to go through insurance. This place was a scam.

Stay away! And don't let me add a card to your file, they will charge what they want when they want and they won't give you any explanation. The charged my card $30/session for about 3 sessions, then decided my copay should be $50/session so they went in and took another $60 with no notice. Had a few more appointments, they charged $30 each and came back for more unannounced. So I removed my card from their system. I tried calling and nobody could ever explain my bill or provide an invoice with any details other than a single dollar amount. So I went o my insurance company, who said "oops, we paid it wrong, your copay is $30 not $50, we will fix it!" So they are in the process of refiling and repaying every claim they paid wrong - which will reduce my payment due by almost half! I tried calling today and the lady with broken english wouldn't stop speaking over me to argue that my copay changed in April - no it didn't, the insurance company started paying it correctly in April. The copay was always supposed to be $30. So this "lady" told me I could pay the full balance and she'd research it later. But my insurance company said don't pay anything until we fix it on our end. Will Thriveworks hear what I'm saying? No. Will they let me talk to a supervisor? Also no. Do they care to assist with anything at all? Nope. Stay far away unless you want a serious mental health issue, because that's all you'll get dealing with this terrible company. How are they even still in business...

Please do not use this company's service. The therapists are horrible and incompetent, and the billing practices are a scam. I have trouble remembering things, and I missed three appointments total, each resulting in a $135 fee for not showing up. I was a minor at the time I first set up an appointment with Thriveworks, so my father had to put his email and phone number. He forwarded one email with a session link to me, so I reused that same email for each appointment. I was a minor when I missed the first two appointments, so my father was the person who was contacted. He was at work, so he could not contact me. Soon after I turned 18, we requested Thriveworks to change the contact information to my email and phone number. They only changed the phone number on file, so a few months later when I set up another appointment I forgot that I had set it up. The day of the appointment, I received a phone call from a number listed as Potential Spam, so I did not answer. Had they changed the email on file like I told them to, I would have gotten a reminder email with a session link, and I would not have missed the appointment. We called Thriveworks to dispute the charge, and they asked for my information several times. If Thriveworks cannot do something as simple as changing contact information, then they should not be able to handle giving therapy. I would give zero stars on this review if I could.

This company is a scam. I had one appointment with them over 2 years ago. Since then, they have charged my card $100 multiple times. I got my bank to put a stop to the payments, and got a new card number, yet they were somehow able to get my new card information and attempt to charge me again. There is no excuse for me to charged when I am no longer a patient. I have sent numerous emails to them requesting an explanation and all have been ignored. At this point I will have to change banks entirely. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE LITERALLY STEALING MY MONEY!

The clinicians are fantastic - it's the admin that is horrible. I followed my therapist from her old practice to here. When setting up an appointment with her at Thriveworks, I checked if they take my insurance, which they verified. Please note, they make it mandatory that you have a credit card on file prior to scheduling.
After 2 sessions with my therapist, I realize I've been charged over $300 for the appts. I call them and it turns out there was an issue with my insurance. Instead of notifying me of this issue, they billed me as a self-pay client.
Their customer service reps will try to distract you and avoid solving the issue. I asked for a supervisor at least 3x during my call and they kept stalling. Turns out that there are no supervisors on site. When I finally spoke to a supervisor, they focused more on my insurance instead of how I was charged as a self-pay without my knowledge. They tried to distract me by asking me if I wanted to find a clinician in their system that is in-network with my insurance. Later in the call, I learned that ALL their therapists are out of network for me.
They told me that their system doesn't always notify patients when their insurance doesn't go through and they get charged self pay?! They will say "I'm not blaming you" even when they are. They told me that I should have called my insurance in the first place to verify that my therapist would be in-network, before I even called Thriveworks.
Now they are making me jump through hoops to try to get a refund. They want me to get a referral from my PCP so they can try to charge it through my insurance. Again, this wouldn't have been an issue if they had just told me from the beginning that this is out-of network.
Funny how the place where I was trying to seek mental health care has caused this much stress. At this point, I've spent a few hours on the phone and no resolution has been made. One of the worst experiences I've had with any therapeutic facility.
