Tried to place a classified ad. Difficult website. Multiple calls for assistance with conflicting information and miniscule help. Managed to make website work after about a week but forced to place both paper and online ad when I only wanted paper. Paid and received confirmation. Then received vm stating ad on hold and please call back. Did so but after long wait customer service picked up then hung up without even speaking. Left message requesting a call back. No one did. I called again with another long wait and spoke to rep who said ad was all set and nothing on hold as I had been told. Online ad ran but not paper ad. Waited on hold 18 minutes today but when rep placed me on hold to ck on things, she cut call off instead. Another 12 min calling back and gave up to leave message since I had to return to work. Requested mgr call back at end of my day. I know 530 may have been after hrs and inconvenient but I certainly was inconvenienced so not much to ask. No call. I need ad run or $ back. It was a birthday ad and now late for birthday, but despite inexcusable customer service I am still willing to compromise if they will give me time of day.

I support the F Rating. I signed up for the $1 promo. Within the required period, I gave notice of cancelation and the customer service rep (phone) confirmed cancellation. 4 months later, started getting TWO pulls from my credit card each month. Unfortunately I did not catch the error for until several months had passed. A customer service rep (phone) confirmed the error but only had authority to reimburse three of the eight $9.99 charges but stated he'd turn in review request internally for payment of the other five. After two months, nothing. Called again. Rep turned in for review again. Another month has gone by... nothing.
In my view, irresponsible billing and poor customer service. Would not recommend subscribing.

The Indianapolis STAR has been notified numerous times regarding missed deliveries to our address. I have even spoken to a delivery manager and have been promised that these repeated missed deliveries would be taken care of. Again today there is no paper even though the recording from the star said it would be delivered by 9 a.m. I told the representative that it borders on fraud to not provide the service when I pay for the service. She agreed. How crazy is that? I’m constantly calling the Star to get a minuscule refund. I seriously don’t think they deserve even a one star review.

I ordered a subscription in Sept 22. 2 papers a week and they can't seem to get it together! Very frustrating. I have called numerous times and talked with several supervisors for them to read a script to me! Finally had to just cancel in Mar 23. No paper delivered!!

I’d give 0 stars if allowed. This is in reference to my elderly mother-in-law’s subscription to the Peoria Journal Star. I renewed it last March and shortly after renewal I checked her account and the expiration date had moved up by a full month. I called back and was told that was due to special issues which I was not told about at renewal. I got part of her subscription back and the end date was supposed to be 04/11/23. Renewal notice came and the end date is now 03/31. I just called and they said it was due to price increases. I’m sorry, when pay for a year, I expect a year (besides the fact they do not even publish on Saturday anymore). If I renew for a year through 03/31/24 what’s to stop them from saying tomorrow that prices just tripled and your subscription expires after 4 months. This has to be one of the most dishonest and deceptive companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I truly hope I am able to talk her out of renewing her subscription. And they wonder why the print paper is going out of business.

This company does not provide subscribers the chance to cancel their subscription online. The only way out is to wait for your credit card to expire. This is extremely unethical. I can't believe the BBB hasn't intervened yet.

I am terribly frustrated by the Providence Journal billing practices. I have been a PJ customer for years and have repeatedly registered complaints with their customer service with little or no response. The *************** us electronically (e-Mail) with no statement of payments, accurate balances, or payment period of performance ever provided. As example, I just made a large payment for an unspecified (unclear) balance within the last 4 business days. A Rep from customer service assured me (by phone), that my subscription was paid thru 3/16/23. I received an e-Mail renewal notice today that I have a due balance of $75.34. When I called customer service they contended that the recorded message was incorrect and that my payment balance was zero. I again expressed my complaint about the need for a documented statement and got no satisfactory response. What can we do to resolve this? Why is the Providence Journal exempt from providing accurate and timely customer billing statements?

If I could a minus 10 score I would. My mother in-law who is 87 pays a full year in advance for what they call a newspaper. There has been a paper box for many years this is on a main highway in Garrettsville. The delivery driver must be blind because they continue to throw the paper in the general direction. I have tried to contact someone many times I even went to the listed address in Ravenna which does not exist. There is very poor ethics with this newspaper no wonder they are going down the toilet. Stay away not worth it!!!

I have been trying for a year to have the paper delivered to my mother’s porch or yard as promised. I gave up because the delivery person refused and would only deliver all papers on the other side of the street. For the last six Sundays the paper has had no inserts — not a single add, coupons, comics or other inserts. She can’t walk across the street to get the paper so she relies on others to bring it to her. Now she’s not even getting all of it. It’s like they don’t want customers. Just go out of business already and take your 1.03 customer rating and BBB F rating with you.

On 4/8/22 I was quoted an annual fee of $300.00. On 4/29/22 my charge card was charged $452.53. On several occasions (5/10/22, 6/27/22, and 12/29/22) I have requested a reimbursement of $152.53. On 5/10 while speaking with Maria and 6/27 while speaking with Ann of the Wausau Daily Herald I was told I would receive the requested reimbursement within 15 business days. On 12/29/22 I spoke with Sia of the Wausau Daily Herald to cancel our subscription due to non-reimbursement of the $152.53, lack of news paper delivery and a sassy note from our delivery person telling us not to report non-delivery issues as he/she would be deducted $2 per non-delivered paper. At this time I requested reimbursement of my pre-paid subscription for Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr 2023 at $25/month (A total of $100 plus the $152.53 as described above. On 2/2/2023 I spoke with Angelo of the Wausau Daily Herald requesting the monies due to me, indicating if I did not receive the reimbursement on my credit card by the end of 3 business days, I was notifying the BBB for assistance in obtaining the monies due to me in total of $252.53. To date, I have not received my reimbursement. Please assist me in obtaining the monies the Wausau Daily Herald is keeping hostage from me. Thank you.
