Our small business was shopping for classified ad prices for a HELP WANTED ad in Sept 2022. Without our approval, the ad was published. I notified them withing 24 hours of the ad being published and told them the ad was never approved and we were still shopping prices. There was some back-and-forth emails and finally the Providence Journal (PV) agreed we should not be charged b/c the ad wasnt approved. Then a bill showed up for the ad, we notified PV of the incorrect billing and were told it would be taken care of and we didnt owe the money. It is December 2022 and we continue to receive invoices for the *** We are told the invoice is in pending approval mode at this point. When I call the phone number on the bill, I am calling ***************. ********* owns the Providence Journal. It is frustrating that shopping for pricing has created more work for our office. My boss asked me to file a complaint with the BBB. However, we didnt fall into any of their categories. Hence the review.

My E-Subscription was about to expire- they sent an Email offer for $9.99 so I subscribed - then Cape Cod times debited my account for and additional $59. apparently I now have two accounts- I asked just cancel Both accounts are now stopped - I asked for a refund and they said they do not provide refunds - after a lengthy call to customer service (Frustrating) they wanted me to pay an additional $59 dollars to activate account? They said a report would be completed - I still have no access and they have $68.95 of my money - I physically went to office on Main st in Hyannis - it is closed for Covid reasons? If there was a negative star rating it would be negative 10

On May 31,2022 my mother, Joan B***** of ***** ** ******** *****, Sun City West, AZ, called and cancelled her subscription, and she stopped receiving the paper.
On June 7, 2022, I went online and got her a new subscription at a considerably better rate and she started receiving the paper from my subscription.
However, on November 8, 2022, we discovered AZ Republic continued to take $46.00/month from her checking account (as well as $15.80/month from my credit card) and called the customer service to find out what was going on.
Curiously, she was only receiving one paper but getting charged for two.
We were told we would be credited for the all the previous months, but surprisingly, she just received her most recent bank statement and the paper again took $46.00 from her checking account.
So the AZ Republic cancelled her subscription on May 31st just enough to stop delivering the paper to her but not enough to stop stealing the funds from her account.
This is fraud and needs to be resolved with a full credit June - November for all the money taken from her account after she clearly cancelled.
I have called multiple times and a "Supervisor" named Gina from Customer Service was supposed to call me back and has not to confirm.

One Star-only because this is as low as can go. Reading reviews and complaints it appears I am not the only one experiencing concerns regarding customer service and billing practices! The paper that I am addressing is the Salina Journal, now owned by The Garnett Company and is no longer printed in Salina Kansas but come from Hutchinson KS. I have contacted them because of their failure to deduct the amount of the paper on the terms that I agreed to, instead at the end of November 2022 taking out 3 separate, large payments from the account. I contacted the customer line speaking to Alex. I was not provided with a reason why they failed to deduct the payments per agreement and was told the auto withdrawal would be stopped within 3 to 5 business days. I have little confidence this will occur, since repeated requests to have a return call to discuss this has not happened. I found it frustrating that going onto the Salina Journal Website I could NOT cancel autopay and there is no option to make a change to paper billing or removing the card.

Tried to cancel before I was charged after free trial. Online cancel subscription notice said unavailable call customer service. They were closed but my subscription showed expiration date was 11/20 so I thought I was Ok. Monday a pending charge showed up on my credit card. Called customer service immediately. They refused to recall the charge which hadn’t even posted yet to my card. They changed expiration date to 11/23 without my knowledge, I’m sure to give time for the charge to post. Accounting system seems to be a scam. They try to slide charges through without your knowledge. When I said I would dispute the charge on my card they didn’t care. Read the other complaints on file here. Hopefully, enough people have made similar complaints to warrant an investigation.

**** **** ******** is a Terrible business !! I took a trial subscription last year and canceled after that. Last month out of the blue they charged my card and I called 3 times ,each time was told I would get a refund. Today a supervisor told me I couldn’t get a refund for a digital subscription and was given the wrong information. She said it was my fault that I didn’t call before the charge was posted!! She said I would have to dispute it with my credit card company which I promptly did. It is a call center overseas and I assume they just give you a run around hoping you forget about it. I would give 0 stars if I could

Scam...Its too bad that our local newspapers have been bought by a company that has unethical billing practices and provides no customer service. Have twice made arrangements with a rep over the phone to change my subscription off a monthly $10.99 billing that I didn't sign up for. I am now having to cancel a credit card that I've had over 10 years to get this billing stopped.

This is a predatory organization whose tactics are well detailed in the many complaints below. They are structured to trap unassuming people into subscriptions that are unreasonably time and labor intensive to find a way to cancel. Meanwhile, they refuse to issue refunds. This is criminal extortion or the general public and corrosive to our societal welfare. This is precisely the kind of thing that our politicians should be protecting society from.

My review looks to be the same as many others--the billing is screwed up (they're billing me for two accounts); they say "we are unable to cancel a subscription online, please call customer service," then when you call customer service (if you ever get through to a person) they are completely unhelpful. I finally cancelled the credit card that they were billing to, so now they just send me bills in the mail, which I ignore.

Total scam. Started subscription two weeks ago and so far have not received one issue for the second week. They said they would credit your account which is a joke if you still do not receive paper. They said they would get a new delivery person and send back copies to me. Still waiting!!!. I paid for the print edition and they said you can still read it online what a joke. Buyer beware they do nothing to alleviate the problem. Classic example of why they are losing subcribers.
