This bank ruined my family's Christmas and New Years. I've been a member for over 6+ years and I am a veteran. I had a charge from a business that I wanted to dispute, made the dispute and also contacted the business as told to do so by bank. The business ended up returning the funds owed to me on my debit card when navy federal also add funds to my account. Now my account was in the negative, for Christmas couldn't add money to buy presents or pay any bills. They claim i am responsible for funds that navy federal added on their own. They did not check with business to see if funds had been returned to customer or anything. They have ruined my business account and my whole way of life.

Disorganized! Working on a home equity loan for about 8 weeks now. They need one form after another but won’t tell you for weeks. “Oh yeah, I need this too…”. They seem to have 3 different departments to go through and no one talks to the other.

      Navy Federal Credit Union Review
We applied for a loan to make improvements on the Condo we purchased in Ocean City, Md.
We contacted Navy Federal Credit Union. They put us through the ringer justifying every dime put in our bank accounts or taken out for a huge time period. After submitting all the due diligence expected on income, tax returns, etc… We contacted them to see our status. Denied. WHY? They used my wrong income (documented on my W2 And confirmed with our CFO at our company.
Lost another couple of weeks so no renovations began.
They corrected their info and resubmitted to underwriting saying all should be fine. Again, we had to call to get status. DENIED. Why? “The condo did not appraise high enough”. As it turns out, they did what’s called a “Drive by” appraisal which does not even entail a literal drive by the property. They agreed to use the Real Appraisal which we had done for our mortgage. “That should do it” they said. Resubmitted. Again we had to follow up when we did not hear back. Denied. WHY THIS TIME? You are in a condo. NO SHITE? The fact that we told them it was a condo, the address was to a condo with a unit #, AND the appraisal we sent them had a picture of the building. They said they would resubmit to their condo division. New Status (Weeks later) – Denied. WHY? “You are in a Resort Area”. You geniuses could not figure out Ocean City, MD is a resort town?
Spent considerable time and energy Proving that it was our primary residence. Resubmitted. 2 weeks go by. DENIED. Why?? Oh, you have not lived there more than 6 months. Wow, we told them that in the beginning. They saw that in the mortgage closing docs we sent earlier and in Appraisal we sent them.
Bottom Line after 2 months of jerking us around. I went to SECU of Md and got the loan secured in 2 weeks time. The Navy Federal Team should be fired (and flogged).

This is the worst financial institution I've had the misfortune of doing business with. I have been banking with NAVY FEDERAL for about the past four years now. Two months ago (11-15-23) my wife of 27years passed, as if this wasn't bad enough along with having to make funeral arrangements i find out NAVY FEDERAL has frozen our accounts checking and savings. I can't pay for my wife's funeral or any other bills including the mortgage on the house, thank God for family. NAVY FEDERAL could care less about military or their families all they have done for me is take a bad situation and make it worse.

Was lied to by four supervisors at Navy federal and two representatives. Navy federal allowed a stopped check to be cashed and now they’re trying not to accept liability. It’s so unfair.

DO NOT EVER!!! Apply for anytype of loan through NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.The manner in which they choose to conduct bussiness with customers and clients of color loudly echo characteristics of systematic racism. I applied for an auto loan with Navy Federal on December 12th with an excellent credit rating and was denied with no explaination. I proceeded with my auto purchase through the dealership confirming my credit rating. After one week I received a letter from Navy Federal Credit Union as statement notification of credit denial. However, the reasons listed are false and fraudulent. The letter includes and incorrect extremely low credit score and other false listings. I contacted the credit reporting agency Transunion listed on the report and was informed there was no way possible the things listed in that letter could be any where near being accurate. I contacted Navy Federal and was told they could'nt tell me how or where they pulled this information, only stating Transunion. I appealed their decision and was approved within an hour of that call with two hard pulls on my credit report. There was no further explaination, only offering me an oppurtunity to apply for a refinance loan of the car I just purchased through another institution.

Horrible! I opened an account online with them (checking). They took my direct deposits and then shut off my debit card before I even activated it! They cut off my access online so I cannot activate my card and use MY MONEY! They said something is messed up and to fill out a form. THEN WAIT 3-5 business days. THEN if it’s accepted they will MAIL my new debit card. I have bills to pay! How is this legal?! Soon as I find out where I can take legal action or help I’m doing it

I just got off the phone with a representative trying to pay rent... Not sure why Navy Federal doesn't really seem to care about the financial issues their customers when they are the ones holding on to our money. I am in the hospital due to a stroke, been here 3 weeks and not sure when I will be coming home. I'm unable to go to the the branch and I am 70 years old so I can't remember a lot of things, the fact that I can't simply do task over the phone is frustrating. The person I talked to was being arrogant and smart I guess because I have had security issues with my account in the past but to not be helpful in this situation is very sad. I may be banking with another company very soon...

I've been with NFCU for over 10 years. They started as the gild standard for customer service. In 2019 they went downhill and have been consistently worse and worse each year. Their employees have become rude and completely ignorant of how to do their job. I had my credit pulled incorrectly, I was lied to regarding mortgage rates and most recently I had a disputed credit card charge that was closed inaccurately by them saying another unrelated and completely different amount was the refund from Amazon. I have called them and been put in hold for over 30 minutes for the rude rep to then just say there is nothing she can do that I have to send a message for another team and rudely hang up on me. I've sent 6 messages with no response. It is a shame that NFCU rips off and treats veterans and veterans families this way. My Dad fought for this company's employees freedom to rip people off and that is the most shameful thing about this company and this country. Shame on you NFCU! NFCU is terrible! Please take your money elsewhere.
