If I could give 0 as a rating I would!
I recently opened this account because I thought it would be more convenient than dealing with my last financial institution. What I’ve experienced so far is nothing short of a disaster. I’ve transferred funds from my former bank to be sure I could cover any expenses in the interim of switching banks. It shows from my former bank that the transfer was done two days ago but has yet to post on NFCU. To add to the distress NFCU is charging $29 for an overdraft fee on $.45! This can’t be categorized as anything but criminal! I’ve messaged support with no success whatsoever and they continue to add on charges for which no explanation has been given. I’m at wits end with these crooks as my account with them continues to be held hostage with their delay tactics which I believe to be intentional. They continue to profit through unreasonable means while not providing the services and respect that customers deserve. I will definitely be concluding any further business dealings with them. Also I will decline to refer any friends or family to this so called business.

I was with Navy Federal for almost 10 years I was incarcerated and someone used my cards and accounts wiped them out and put them in a negative balance. I showed the proof that I was incarcerated and I could not have done any of the above transactions and they still denied me for my fraud investigation then three months later closed my business account for no reason at all this bank is the worst and they are supposed to be for the people. My family has been a military family since I can remember I am going to get all of my family members to leave this institution. They are actually worse than **** ** ******* and *****.

I have been with NFCU for 42 years. I have had my money issues but never filed for bankruptcy. I applied for a mortgage on an home that I inherited, in order to pay off all my credit card debts. I was denied in 3 days without explanation from an agent who consistently input wrong information and never corrected it. I sent an email directly to nfcu and did not get so much as a whimper in return. In my opinion they have zero customer service an zero integrity. No one cared enough to reach out to a 42 year customer???

My son's Navy Federal campus checking account was hacked when he started college this fall. Account was overdrawn for nearly $10,000. Though they "suspected fraudulent activity" Navy Federal did not freeze account nor notify us for nearly one week after this occurred. A branch rep told us my son had to be involved (he was not) despite the fact that she knew nothing about the details of the case. We opened an investigation nearly 6 weeks ago and have yet to hear anything from Navy Federal despite multiple calls, letters and messages. Navy Federal will not discuss case with me- parent and account co-owner. They will only speak to my son as he is primary owner but they have closed his account and he has no access. The only people who can help us with this is the security department and phone call wait times are routinely 2 hours. I was told by a customer representative that I would have to "adjust my schedule" if I wanted to speak with someone- tough to do when you work all day and their hours are Mon-Fri 9a-5p. Navy federal has terrible customer service and antiquated technology. We had a similar problem with an AmEx account and were notified the same day and problem was resolved with 5" phone call. Navy Federal is terrible. DO NOT USE NAVY FEDERAL!!!!!

Michael M******* (loan officer) and Eileen M******** (Mortgage processor) were the most unprofessional two people I have ever dealt with in 50 years. I was denied a loan, not due to credit, but due strictly to a document that wasn't provided to them to approve it. Ironically I was never asked for the document and have waited for over three weeks to be denied with hardly any communication with them. They never asked me for the document but deny me my loan because I didn't provide it to them?? I wouldn't recommend any one ever to borrow money from Navy Federal Credit Union.

My husband and I submitted a fraudulent claim immediately after finding out his wallet had been stolen. We spoke with a NFCU representative in real time as someone was trying to use our debit card. We reported the card stolen, reviewed each fraudulent charge, and were even reassured by the representative we would get our funds back. After several phone calls and trying to follow up on our claim, we were told the claim was denied and given no information as to why they came to this decision. We attempted to escalate the issue, but were met with resistance and told there was not one person who would be able to take our call. Their "Zero Liability" policy is grossly hypocritical to their business practices. Our money was innocently stolen from us and Navy Federal Credit Union has negligently handled business.

Corporate closed/cancelled my debit card and told me I was banned from using it until May of 2023, because I "exceeded the limit of risk Navy Federal is willing to accept." Why, do you ask? Because my card information was stolen 3 separate times in between November and April, and because I reported it and filed claims, instead of Navy Federal saying "hey, maybe we should beef up the card security measures for our members to stop the cards from being vulnerable", they decided to blame me, a loyal Navy Federal member of 10 years, banning me from using MY OWN CARD. They will not issue me a new one or reopen the card, so I am closing my account and taking my money to USAA. Additionally, their banning me from using my card took FIVE MONTHS. They allegedly "sent me a letter" in May, but then didn't close my card until October. Huh????????
By the way, this would be an understandable decision if I were regularly overdrawing my account or demonstrating irresponsible behavior with the card usage. A member reporting legitimate fraud is NOT a valid reason to ban them from using their debit card.

I applies for a personal loan and was approved. When they gave me the terms and the interest rate, I refused the loan. They then turned around and sent me an email saying I did not get approved for the loan. I have to emails to prove it all.

My accounts have been locked for several days from me and no one has been able to help I have made several calls and would be put on hold for long periods of time the longest being over two hours. I have provided all my information and answered my security questions just to be accused of being an imposter. This bank is ridiculous wasting my time. I am unable to go to a bank in person and have made that clear several times over the phone but these workers don't seem to be able to understand that.
