1 starTheir system does not work. They initially quoted us a system which uses a below the floor gutter system. When they arrived on site they switched this to an above floor system that uses a plastic curb glued to the floor. This curb and glue still leak, allowing water to pass out onto the basement floor.
When I challenged them on this they offered to come back and rid that portion of the system out of the basement and refund a very small portion of the money we paid them.
On top of all this they were extremely confrontational with my wife, to the point that she cannot speak with them or be in the home when they do work for fear of her personal safety.
We paid this company ******* for a system that does not work.

5 stars**** ******** ******* were super professional, courteous, price effective, and friendly. Darin ****** not only explained things plainly but did not push other services that we did not want. He was also very patient, knowing we were going through a refinance.
The crew that came out to do the job actually called when they were running a little late, which was very nice. They did great work, were friendly and cleaned up completely after they were done.
A+ to all involved!Review fromElizabeth R

1 starI paid Baker's to do a sump pump install in 2018. Throughout the install process and several years since I was very happy with their service. I am now selling my home and had to have code enforcement come out to give me an occupancy permit. Baker's installed my sump pump and used an extension cord to plug it in, which they tacked to the wall. Their contract requires a "dedicated outlet", which is what I had because nothing else is plugged in to that outlet. Their contract says nothing about the location of that outlet. Fire code requires that extension cords not be used as a substitute for permanent wiring/cannot be affixed to anything. I called Bakers to see if they would come out and fix this problem since it wasn't installed up to code. At no point during the install did anyone tell me that I needed to get another outlet installed or that the cord wasn't up to code. The first person that I talked to today assured me that their work is expected to be up to code and that they would fix something that wasn't. The 2nd person said that it was my problem to fix and that he wasn't there for the install so he didn't know if someone told me that the extension cord was temporary. I cannot imagine them installing something even temporarily not up to code, or not discussing with the homeowner that what they were doing was not up to code. The 2nd person (I think his name was Eric) said he wasn't going to argue with me, and that it was my responsibility to fix. I asked him several times if their work is up to code, to which he said yes. When I asked if they would then fix the work that was not done up to code for me, he said no. Would never work with Bakers again and do not recommend using a company that will leave you scrambling to get up to code when you're in the process of selling. Go with a company that either backs up their work being done to code, or is much more open when they install if something is going to require additional repair.Review fromKendra W

1 starMy optimism for *** ********** * ****** to waterproof my basement dwindled. The initial inspection by Steven on July 7th appeared promising, with a somewhat comfortable quote. Yet, seeking more time to review, I encountered resistance as Steven pushed for an immediate decision to secure a 14% discount. Reluctantly, I signed the agreement (under my mother's name), with a 3-day cancellation window.
Despite prompt inquiries within the allotted time, I found better-priced alternatives and decided to cancel on July 11 at 2:58 pm, still within the deadline. However, nearly 30 days later, Steven's silence persists.
Around July 21-24, Steven conversed with my mother(Sharon), noting he had emailed me and promising a refund. He even offered to match competitor quotes. which implied acknowledgment of their overpricing. Despite my mother reiterating my wish to cancel, the issue lingers, reflecting poorly on their professionalism.
A call to *** on July 25th offered no solace. While my cancellation was acknowledged, promised callbacks and my refund remain elusive. The convoluted cancellation process, unfulfilled assurances, and delayed refunds mar the experience, overshadowing *** Foundation & Repair's service.
I had anticipated smoother service, respectful communication, and adherence to timelines. Regrettably, this encounter has left me disheartenedReview fromOlivia O

1 starContacted many times about refunds that they were supposed to give back because the work couldn't be done. 1 refund is hold up at the corporate and that we may or may not get which 100% wrong because the work was never done. The 2nd refund Doug * never put in and that ********* again for work that could not be done. the customer service is a joke, they say they will call you back and never do. This company owes me ********* and jerking me around they can cash the whole check the very same day but can't or won't give refunds for services not rendered.Review fromTina C

5 starsVery responsive from the start with customer service, the salesperson, Tim, driving 3 hours for the consultation to the 2 installers, Andrew and Noah. Everyone was very professional. The company did exactly as they said to fix our bowed garage foundation wall. Completed the job in one day too! Expensive fix but we were able to set up no interest/no payments for 1 year!Review fromLinda C

1 starI am totally disappointed with *** *n Salem, Va.. Tar Heel did my 1st project with no problems.
Then *** took my account. The representative came for my yearly check and stated my pumps were not working and that they only last about 6 years. I paid him for new pumps and a new encapsulation. 6 weeks later they came for my project. One of the workers asked why I was replacing my pumps they were working no problem found. They completed the new project and stated they would tell their supervisor and someone would be in touch with me about sending my money back that I had paid for the pumps that I did not need. No one Called. I called and texted to no avail. Someone called to tell me that they needed to close out my permit and we set a date no one showed up. I then got a call that my inspection had been completed but no one had come to my home. I told her that it wasn't done because I was here all day. She stated it had been signed off. I asked her about the ******* She stated she would follow up on it. She later told me to let her know if my check wasn't here by Wed.. Wed. came and no check. I texted her and she sent it to the office manager to look into this. They have had my money for 2 months and have been sending me a check for the pumps I did not need that I paid for, for 1 month. I will never do business with them again. Still do not have a contact or check. I wonder if they are discriminating against the elderly since I am 75 years old.Review fromRobin L

1 starThey were our first call when we discovered we had a foundation issue, but when a friend recommended a second opinion we found that the same work, with lifetime warranty, could be done at half the price.
They were quick to comply with our request to cancel our contract, but then offered to price match. At half the price, this sent up more red flags. Noone ever gave us a written evaluation or even a business card. The only thing we got in writing was an emailed contract.
We did get a refund on the deposit we put down. We were allowed to decide how much that would be at the time. It took twice as long as we were told to receive the refund and the refund was **** less than our deposit even though no work had begun.
We had two people come out to evaluate and make their sales pitch. I believed this to be at no charge. We had two people spend about 30 minutes to evaluate again ahead of work being done. **** seems excessive for these services and with no statement of charges, may be a good indicator of why they charge twice the going rate for the work that needed to be done.
I regret that I allowed my sense of urgency to overcome my good sense in getting a second quote before contracting them. It was a costly mistake at ****, but in the long run, we still saved thousands and got the same repair with guarantee.Review fromRobert H

1 starI would not refer this company to anyone and further, feel we were taken advantage of in our interaction with them. They asked for the down payment for our job at the end of 2022. I assumed this was to help them make year end numbers and we agreed, knowing that the work was to be done in April when the ground thawed. We were told the deposit would apply to the job when finished. We were NOT told that there was only a 3 day period to cancel our contract. April came and went and they never called to schedule the job. The first we heard from them was the afternoon in June before they were planning to show up to do the work. We weren't even in town and called them to notify them we would not be at home the next day and to reschedule. Again we did not hear from them until the afternoon before they wanted to do the work in July. And again we would not be available, so we asked for the phone number of the person scheduling the job and when we called that number the person answering said they didn't even have us on the schedule for a job. We said we wanted to cancel and that's when we were told we could not get our money back. Period. No compensation for such bad service or the good will we showed in paying 7 months earlier as a favor to them. Please do not use these people!Review fromJoseph H

1 starI made an appointment for a quote to have my glass block basement windowsills repaired. Nobody showed up to the appointment. I called the company to get an update and I was told nothing was on the books for an appointment for me. When I tried to reschedule another appointment, I was told that the work I was describing was not within the scope of their business. I was told we do waterproofing and install egress windows. Their website advertises many more services. It is likely that the windowsill repair job isnt a high paying enough job for them, because it is certainly within the scope of work of a company called The Basement Guys.
