VRBO falsely adventures this property for one price than adds on additional cost for cleaning and other cost. Upon arrival, the property was in a low rent district and did not look very safe. Did not look as well as the advertised pictures on website. There was a strong mildew smell upon opening the door. Very dark and dingy looking place with only one window in a dark hallway. We could not stay there because of the smell and requested a full refund because of misrepresentation. We will never use VRBO or Expedia again because of this.************* ***********************************************

VRBO only protects their renters, as they seek more continued income. If a property is not as described and you have already paid, will will not get any kind of refund. I would recommend staying away from renting from them, or do so at high risk.

Misleading Listings and No Accountability I would give zero stars if possible. VRBO falsely advertises rentals as entire homes, but in reality, many listings have hosts living upstairs or downstairs. The postings are misleading, and there seems to be no quality control over the rentals or accountability for the hosts. VRBO appears to have no real policies in place to ensure accuracy or hold property owners responsible for their misrepresentations. I havent come across a single listing that was truly an entire home as advertised. Extremely disappointing and misleadingwould not recommend.

We paid a huge amount for a run down place in a neighborhood that was advertised as "up and coming" that was a ghetto. But the worst part was we paid for a damage deposit that was presented as refundable. A month later we had no refund. We emailed them. No response. We called them. Now all of a sudden it's "Oh that isn't refundable" claiming it was actually insurance.WELL THAT ISN'T THE WAY IT WAS PRESENTED TO US!Be very careful with these clowns. They will mislead you and rip you off. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RENT FROM THEM!

After hosting guests on ****** for three years, I decided to try VRBO. The onboarding process was fairly extensive, which initially gave me high expectations. However, I was disappointed to find that guests are not required to have profiles to rent a home. While I did receive a good number of bookings, my experience took a turn when a guest damaged my floors. Unlike ******, where damage coverage is more automated, VRBO made the process tedious and provided little assistance. Hosts should be aware that damage protection is not automaticit must be opted into, which isnt made clear upfront. If you're renting an investment property and looking for more traffic, VRBO could be a decent option. However, if you're renting out a personal or family home, I would think twice. The option to advertise on ******* and other sites is available, but since this was my family home, I chose not to use it.HomeAway used to be an affordable way to rent homes, but since VRBO took over, prices have increased significantly. Now, VRBO is just another company trying to compete with ************* offering much in return. Their biggest selling point is exposure on large platforms like Expedia to drive bookings, but beyond that, theres little that sets them apart.A major issue is that VRBO allows anyone to book a property, which means guests who may have bad reviews on ****** can easily rent through VRBO instead. For hosts, this is a huge drawback. With no required guest profiles or reviews, its difficult to vet who is staying in your home. Additionally, damage protection isnt automatic, and filing claims is a frustrating process. If you're renting out an investment property and just want more bookings, VRBO might work for you. But if you value security, ease of use, and better host protections, Id think twice before listing here.

VRBO is everything derogatory said by others and worse. They allow owners to post rentals that are fake, unsanitary, dirty, health hazards and the list goes on. Dont be fooled by the pictures, especially at ******************************* in *****, the ****************************. It is as dead as its name sake. They also take no accountability in resolving matters. Each time you speak with a different representative is like starting from the beginning and going through the details all over. We were there in November 2024 for Thanksgiving and the place is a bait and switch from all pictures posted. Also unsanitary, unsafe unfit t for normal living, let alone for rental. We had to find another location the day before Thanksgiving to rent. We are in dispute with VRBO and ******* *****.

VRBO allows host to violate there rules to protect you from phishing and scams. I booked a free cancelation for Italy and paid in full $816. I canceled within 11 days because the host sent 2 emails OUTSIDE of VRBO platform. It is against VRBO policy and is considered a security risk. I was asked to check in with personal info by using a link. Vrbo will not return my full deposit. Im told the $26 is due to the currency at the time of exchange. I dont believe it. I suspect it is the separate service fee withdrawal on my account. Yes it is a small amount, but I work hard for every *****. Vrbo offered to send a request to Billing for review and Billing will contact me with a decision via email. ** refused to answer a timeframe. I asked for a supervisor and ** **** up. I called again and spoke to a supervisor. After reviewing the screenshots of the emails and the correspondence from the host who said I should find another host who is more adept at VRBO rules the Supervisor said it is OK to go the extra mile by emailing outside the platform. She also refused to acknowledge the host blatant ignoring the contact policy. Basically I was gaslighted. I spent over 3 1/2 hours on the phone regarding cancellation.

VRBO is horrible. I have a large property that is listed on both VRBO and ******* ****** generates 95% of our revenue, while VRBO comes up waaaay shy with 5%. Now that would be no big deal if it still gave us exposure and if VRBO was easy to deal with. Easy to deal with? Our 1.5 year experience with them has been a nightmare. First, simply logging on with them has been an ongoing challenge. They seem to understand that it is an issue but it keeps happening. The good news is they have streamlined the process of "fixing it" when I can't log in. But it still requires a chat or a call which takes 10 mins minimum each time. Then we have had a billing issue with receiving funds on a rental where we should have been receiving $9,000 but were only getting $3500 due to a guest cancellation and rebooking. I have been on 5 calls with them, taking up approximately 5 hours of time, this, after they have in each instance said "we are handling it" or "this is our mistake". This issue they made is still unresolved as they say each time "we will email you"and then I never get one. Finally, it is March 11th 2025, we have yet to receive our 1099 for taxes. I have now called twice and am currently in a chat room with them where they repeat the following line "he team are already working on your case and they will get back to you soon via email." IT never ends with this joke of a firm. They do have a great advertising/marketing arm. One would think that "VRBO" would allow you to "Relax, you booked a VRBO" (their tag line).. what a joke.

Absolutely TERRIBLE! **************** is useless. They repeatedly asked me for the same payment proof 4 TIMES when the freaking property manager abruptly canceled my rental 48 hours before checkin. VRBO left me high and dry without another rental option and wouldn't fight for my refund. I ended up having to turn the business owner over to the Office of the Attorney ************** of Consumer Affairs. RUN far far away from any listing with **************************** (EQS) and DO NOT USE VRBO. You will get hung out to dry.
