  Do not book with vrbo. We did and it had no heat or hot water in the showers. We contacted the host and they lied about sending maintenance out. Now vrbo wont do anything about it. The host is in violation of short term rental laws. And vrbo will do nothing about it but waste my time!! ******** customer service!

  VRBO's customer service is awful. I spent several hours trying to book a property and it kept saying my credit card wasn't working, when in fact it should. I tried multiple credit cards and none of them worked. I called their customer service and they were unable to help me. Their virtual assistant is also useless. Really frustrating experience.

  VRBO has a house listed that has bad reviews 6 stars out is 10 and they allow her to only give half the amount back vs if cancelled before May you get 100% back. Shame on the inconsistency

  In March 2023 we put a deposit (the majority went to the management company and the balance went to VRBO) on a condo in ******* for the month of March 2024. The contract was provided to us by VRBO. The ************************** cancelled our condo in late January 2024. We were SHOCKED. Since the contract was with VRBO, We called them for help and they just agreed that we were cancelled. They did nothing. The management company and VRBO refused to return our money. We had our credit card company go after them to get it back, a month or so later. What a horrible experience. We expected VRBO to be a reputable company but when there is a problem, they are useless.

  VRBO customer service is horrible. Two days before we were moving into our rental on ****, we find out the VRBO host is bogus. We call VRBO, they cancel the reservation, refund us the money, but tell us we are on our own to find a rental on Maui in Feb, peak season. After 7 hours on the phone we find a non-vrbo rental, there were no vrbo rentals available. We found a tiny studio, which cost $423. more than the vrbo rental, asked vrbo to reimburse us, they said "no" because we canceled the reservation, totally not true. I have been on the phone for hours with supervisors at vrbo, no satisfaction. DO NOT USE VRBO

  I rented a house on the beach in ****** for my family that was falsely advertised. The photos were not an accurate representation of the current condition of the home. We were not able to stay due to the unlivable conditions, there was blood on the pillows and the place was filthy, the shower didn't work and there were drug addicts that were tweaking out on Meth that were managing the property and living there. I contacted VRBO right away about the conditions and the type of people that were there and let them know it was an unsafe environment for my children and my husband and I and we would not be staying at the property. I requested a refund right away and they gave me to a supervisor who did absolutely nothing for me and was completely useless. After going around in circles with them for weeks. They said it was up to the owner of the property to refund my money. Come to find out the owner of the property is a drug dealer because I researched his name online and he's a convicted felon. After leaving the property we realized some items and my husband's medication was stolen from us while we were there looking at the property. We filed a police report and the police knew who these people were and said things would have been much worse had we stayed there. Also, this property was in violation with the short-term rental laws of Honolulu multiple times, which I found out when I filed my complaint to the state. All of my complaints to VRBO were the exact same scenarios that others had said in their reviews on the property site which I wish I had read through before I booked because they were all true. There are multiple violations against VRBO's policy with this property. VRBO doesn't care about you and your safety and they should be shut down. I will only be using ****** from now on as I've never had any issues with them. I will definitely be looking into a class action lawsuit against VRBO if I'm not refunded my money.

  ******* of this company!!!! I rented a property through VRBO which turned out to be a portable building with only 1 door in and out (fire code violation?) in a trailer park. The host only listed images from the inside, no where does she let you know it is what it is and where it is. I immediately contancted VRBO who after 2 hours of sending outside images and speaking both on the phone and through email, they stated she did nothing wrong. I have since contacted them many times regarding the situation with no resolve. The host has since removed the property and VRBO offered $80 refund which says they know this was wrong, ******** I paid over 1K for this disguesting lie. They are terrible when it comes to customer support and they are allowing people to sell lies with no consequence. You can't even review VRBO itself so others can be warned. This needs to be addressed, people are spending hard earned money for vacations that could turn out like mine.

  We rented an expensive beach house in *************, **. The house was in shocking condition, perhaps a fire hazard with **** ***** exposed, heavily corroded outlets, an unsecured dishwasher that kept falling over, peeling paint, curtains that fell off the wall if you opened or closed them, let alone very unpleasant conditions. I reported the house to VRBO and they really did nothing, despite offering a plethora of evidence (photos). VRBO never contacted the owner and told me I had to contact the owner myself if I wanted any refund and more importantly the house remains available to rent. I don't think VRBO cares about safety at all.

  Guest Reviews - BEWARE! I recently received an email post stay that a host left a review of me as a guest. I went to my profile to view my rating. I couldnt find it! I reached out to VRBO support and was told that they were experiencing a global outage where they could see my review of a host but not host reviews of guests and could not generate it to my profile. I had browsed online prior to my conversation with support and found that this has been an issue for over a year with no resolution. I had expressed that this creates a distrust and lack of communication after the booking experience and shows they are not interested in maintaining the happiness and safety of their guests but fully interested in the protection of their hosts only! VRBO support provided no solution or support on this. Fortunately, I had booked with a delightful host and communicated with them directly. We were able to communicate that we both gave each other full 5 stars! I would absolutely book with them again! Let this be a warning to really research the properties and your hosts as VRBO support is not interested in providing solutions or a lot of support for either party really.

  Just so disappointed in VRBO customer service. As many others have had happen, an owner ended up canceling my booking after confirming it. Fun times. Nothing like spending all the time researching the perfect place, having it booked, paid, confirmed...to then at some point in the future have it be canceled right from under you with no notice. Now vrbo pretended to care initially. They even gave a small onekey credit. Little did I realize that silly little credit was only valid for just 2 weeks and will be expired before it can be used. I'm over the smoke & mirrors. Time to use other ways to book vacation rentals.
