Contracted with this company for three publications. All three were signed at the same time and had the same terms per our sales person. Now that I want to cancel due to the business closing it's being said that one of the publications had a different expiration date. This is false and not what we agreed upon. This company has shady business practices and as the BBB website notes, this is a consistent pattern it seems. I want ************ cancelled and no further funds charged effective immediately.Business Response

We received a collection notice from BVM. We had a trial period with this company, but never received a notice about renewing services nor did we ever received a bill. They told us the sales rep who signed us up no longer works there. Then, they just sent us a collections notice for over $7500! We are a small business and did not even receive any benefit during the initial sign up. So, we would not have signed up for renewal had they bothered to contact us. We cannot afford this service and they put us through a collection agency. DO NOT do business with this company.Business Response

We aim to provide an excellent advertising experience for all of our clients. We do not offer trial periods and all terms are communicated clearly by our local reps. *** clients also receive a digital copy of the agreement immediately after signing. In this situation, our client has run advertisements yet we have never received a payment. It's unfortunate they are mischaracterizing our business rather than working with us to fulfill their end of the agreement that was signed.Customer Answer

The sales representative no longer works for the organization and so, it isn't possible for that person to confirm what was discussed with us. We would never have agreed to an initial cost of $7,000 when we've never had $7,000 in sales as a new small business that didn't have revenue during the pandemic. We also did not receive a bill or an option to cancel before this exorbitant cost was assessed or before it was sent to collections. If there is a signed agreement, feel free to send it to us because we don't have a record of it.Interesting that there are so many other organizations with the exact same complaint.

Copies of signed agreements are delivered via email to our clients immediately after signing. In this situation, a copy of both signed agreements were delivered to our client, as well as a welcome letter that contained the renewal date and a reminder of how to proceed should they wish to discontinue the renewal. As requested, our team has once again sent this information to our client.Initial Complaint

In 2021 March/April. BVM had a sales rep come in to the shop to "Sale" us on their magazine subscriptions. At the time of the meeting, there was a video played and a little talk from the rep. *** made it sound wonderful! *** told us the proposal of cost and the time frame being *********************************** lets give it a try for the 2 years. We were told that the Magazines go to newer homes in the richer areas of town. A year goes by never had a client come in from the magazine. After a year and a half almost the 24 months, I asked the rep when she came in to drop off the monthly issue, I asked her how come we have yet to receive anyone. Her response was, "You don't know that, no one is ever going to say they found you in a magazine and wanted to stop by." I found that to be a little rude and weird. So I let it go. *** did try to tell me that a big event we did was referred by her but that was not referred by her. The only reason she said that is because she seen us dropping off the centerpieces to the event. Fast forward I was wondering why we kept getting billed if the contract was up, well little did i know it was 36 months and not 24. Well I would have known that if the contract was shown to me at signing and explained instead of reading it aloud to me and asking for a signature. This company is a BIG SCAM!! I don't recommend them to anyone or any other business. This has been a BIG WASTE of ************ with not receiving any business from it to show for! Makes for a bad reputation to others like them. I will never recommend them to anyone or any other business. I want them to take what was paid and keep it and stop all actions on the collection charge. The collection company that is in hands with the account to help them collect their monies, called the shop and told the employees I have that their is thousands owed. This is not something that should have been said and is CONFIDENTIAL!Business Response

We proudly work with thousands of businesses who enjoy advertising in their local publications. Our cost-effective solutions build brands, and unlike direct response advertising tools, our approach builds long-term awareness and loyalty in the community. In this situation, our local rep clearly communicated the terms of the agreement before signing. A digital copy of the agreement was also delivered to our client immediately afterwards. Our rep later contacted our client regarding payment concerns, and told our client the end date of the agreement and how to turn off auto-renewal.

When contract was signed was done via electronic. I had to ask for a copy of the contract after when I was concerned of the terms. A company that promise exposure to new homes in the area, people will come in by advertising etc is a lie. Ive talked to several new home owners that say that they never got the magazine! So where is it sent to? Im not paying for something that is not benefiting me its only benefiting the best version media!

Our local publications are delivered free of charge to residents every month. The two publications managed by our rep in this area have been enjoyed by readers for over four years. The claims made by our client about the magazine not being delivered are inaccurate. We have honored our side of the agreement that was reached and hope to work with our client moving forward.

I disagree with that. When the rep came into the office to present her verbiage on the magazine, she stated that they are mailed to only NEW HOME OWNERS as they are moved into a new home. That reasoning is because they target the newer homes and the wealthier people. I am saying that there is nothing for me to show on this company that I am getting in return from clients. This magazine is a hoax and I am saying that NO ONE HAS CAME INTO MY PLACE AND SAID OHHH LOOK I FOUND YOU IN THE MAGAZINE! This is a waste of time and money and the lies that are brought with it. The terms were stated as one thing and on the actual paper that I received via email after the fact of having to ASK for it was more than what was discussed in our office. Im not paying for something that is going to make you money and not in return give me the clients or clientele. I have heard other florists and other businesses say the same about these PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

We opted to advertise in ************************ in 2022 (A Best Version Media ***************) to promote a new territory we were doing business in. ******* promised a lot of support along with the purchase. We have been paying for a year and have only seen one ad despite asking several times to show the ads. We only wrote and approved one in a year. They state ******* had dropped off copies which we DID NOT receive at either of our offices. We have asked to terminate the agreement to no avail, we have not authorized ACH withdrawals thought they continue to draw from our account. We feel there has been fraud as well as harassment in their communication to continue to pay despite not demonstrating their ad obligation.Business Response

Our goal is to provide an excellent advertising experience for all of our clients. In fact, our awarded reputation has been built by honoring agreements with tens of thousands of advertisers. In this situation, our local rep gathered materials from this client to run their advertisement, and the business approved the ad to be printed in the monthly magazine. Unlike what's stated in this complaint, our client's ad has been consistently included in the publication month after month. Additionally, our rep delivered magazine copies directly to this client's business on numerous occasions but was never able to speak with anyone in person. Our local rep been supportive throughout our client's experience and even worked with this client to pause their agreement earlier this year, per our client's request. To our knowledge, there has not been any fraudulent behavior or harassment as described. It's unfortunate that our client has decided to mischaracterize our business, as well as our local rep, to get out of a signed agreement.

BVM just sent me a collection notice. I received no business from them and they put my ad next to coupons in which they said they are NOT A COUPON BOOK. I stated I could not longer afford to pay $405 per month for a quarter page ad plus i had no more compliant articles i could write. They said they would look into it and then just sent me a collections notice for over $9,000! DO NOT do business with this company. One of the biggest regrets of my career. I can no longer afford this service and they put me through a collection agency? I plan on countersuing them by breach of contract by putting me next to and near coupons by a *** store. My business should not be in a coupon book and I was misled by the sales rep with false advertising.Business Response

Best Version Media associate represented the contract as cancellable. When I reached out to the rep for cancelation I was told it was non cancelable. As a small veteran owned business I am spending $1560.00 a month on marketing that isn't working. I feel that I was preyed upon by Best Version media with exaggerations of readership, and of penetration of marketing. My submission dates have been moved without prior notice. The contract is unbalanced and was only provided to me in a tablet form for signing. After signing was complete I was then provided with a complete contract that included the non-cancellation clause. I have spent $18,000 with only $1800 in sales attributed to my marketing package. Each month includes a promo code for accurate tracking. I have had better results with my own social media marketing.Business Response

Our local rep discussed the auto-renew policy with this client. The client viewed and read the full agreement before signing, and received a digital copy immediately after signing. To the local reps knowledge, no submission dates were moved for reasons other than a deadline falling on a weekend or holiday, which would move an ad submission date to the next business day. Our branding solutions are not direct response advertising tools and we cannot guarantee how many new customers will walk through the door. Instead, we aim to build loyalty and brand recognition for local businesses while keeping them top-of-mind in the community on a consistent basis.Customer Answer

******* did discuss the auto renewal but he told me that this would be cancelable. Also my submission date by contract is the 20th of the month. It has been moved to the 13th without notification. This is not because of holidays. The contract was provided in a tablet electronic version. I was provided after signing the completed contract. It was immediately emailed to me.

TOTAL SCAM! In approximately June of last year I was approached by Best Version Media to sign a contract for advertising in their magazine to promote my cleaning business. I was guaranteed that their advertising would secure clients for my cleaning business in South Chesterfield, ** (where I resided), and that there would be no other cleaning agencies in the magazine from my area that I would have to compete with for business. In July, I signed what I thought was my approval of a picture to be used in their magazine to advertise my business, but never received a copy of the document. When I received the magazine, I quickly learned that they had lied to me and used nothing more than a sales pitch to lure me in, as I found many other local cleaning businesses blatantly advertised within the pages of the magazine. Unfortunately, I had already used my credit card to pay them an initial fee of $449.65, but it was not made clear to me that BVM would continue to charge my card for that amount on a monthly basis for as long as the contract was in existence. I immediately called and tried to cancel the contract, was told it would be cancelled, but they continued to charge my credit card monthly, while I continue to remain without any new clients whatsoever. I cancelled the card to stop them from continuing to collect payments from me for their unethical behavior as a business. I recently received a letter from a collection agency demanding I pay BVM $7,531 immediately. I am struggling to pay my own bills because I have no new clients and will not pay them the exorbitant amount of money they claim I own them for doing absolutely nothing for me! It's a shame that so many people just like me have had the same issues with this company, and it's disgusting that they can continue to operate in such a crooked way and steal money from people that are simply trying to do the best they can for themselves.Business Response

Our local rep did not guarantee a direct response result or promise new customers when meeting with this client. Instead, our advertising solutions are designed to build loyalty and brand recognition for local businesses over time. All of the options and information about our offerings were presented to our client and a copy of the agreement was provided digitally upon signing. There was one additional cleaning business advertising in the magazine at the time, which was a topic of discussion between our local rep and the client. Unlike our Expert Contributor agreements, standard ads do not guarantee industry exclusivity in our magazines. We've provided all of the services that were agreed upon in this situation and have fulfilled our end of the agreement with this client.

In October of 2021, a representative from BVM stopped in our office soliciting us to use their company for advertising in their magazine and with online ads on their company's website and on ******** and ******* We were told about how all of it 'works together to maximize the effect of their advertising'. After a few meetings, my husband I were almost ready to commit but I still had my reservations. It was only after the lady told us that we could 'cancel at anytime' that we signed on. Fast forward 19 months, and to say the least, we are very disappointed with their work and their integrity. Recently, we hired a guy to oversee our website and it was then that we found out that BVM and it's 'affiliate' *************************** only put one ad on ****** or ******** in *********************************************** January of 2023. ***** on us for not knowing this before now, but the lady who signed us on regularly sent ****** reports to us weekly (as if they were from anything they did) so we believed ads were getting placed. As honest people, we expect others to be honest and fair as well. We should be able to trust that they are doing what they said they would do. Instead they did almost nothing. What a sad statement about this company. I have reported my findings to their front girl on emails (which included our intention to cancel due to fraud) and received an email from someone in their Client *************************** to contact her. I called her but am still waiting to hear from her. After reading all of the other complaints on here, I too am left wondering why the BBB has not done something about a company that is obviously fraudulently coercing small businesses into signing a contract full of promises and not fulfilling their end of the deal. We work so hard for our money so that we can provide for our families. Unfortunately dishonest companies like this exist. Beware!Business Response

In June of last year we started advertising with best version media. I initially was reluctant to sign a 3 year agreement but I was told if the results were not as expected I would be able to break the agreement easily. I was promised social media marketing and monthly blogs written on my behalf. In 13 months I have not seen one blog or anything except a print ad with unreliable distribution and zero customer interaction from the ad. I am now trying get this company to show me the digital marketing, blogs and distribution of print ads as well as my initial agreement. I have received no response from the company except to say that I signed up for 36 months and that's all that matters. What matters to me is keeping my business going and seeing where the money is going. I really appreciate any assistance in the matter.Business Response
