While I was pregnant, I Was lied to and scammed into signing a 36 month contract for over 700$ a month, I was told I could cancel or switch to a smaller add if needed, as soon as I signed, this is now not the case. They lied to me, and felt harassed by the agent after the fact. as a small business owner I cannot afford this. They are unwilling to work with you. I am now pregnant again with health concerns and I am only working one day a week, they do not care. They do not awnser the phone, but will send you to collections if you do not awnser the phone. I have tried to atleast attempt a payment plan, and now they are sending me to collections for almost ******!!! For an ad me agreement I was lied to about, and scammed into!! I also have not received ANY business from their adds. No clients, NOTHING. This is making me physically sick at this point! Online, they're are hundreds of reviews stating the same issues! This is insanity and not fair!

Dealing with this company has been emotionally distressing. The damages I am seeing without return are about to put me out of business if I cannot cancel this. I have reached out over the months to the main number, hoping to get ahold of the legal team since my rep was no help on this matter, but no response. Upon sign up, they do say they wont guarantee a roi, but its with a wink and a nod to all of their numbers, saying that they just have to say that: with numbers like those there will of course be a roi. If they arent telling people theyre going to get a lot out of the contract and then saying theres now guaranteed roi, why would anyone sign up? Its because the roi is verbally stated and implied through stories during the initial sales period. I wish I had seen the complaints on here before signing up because it appears BVM really is engaging in overt and implied falsehood when signing on new contracts. Then, they simply point to the contract like thats all that was discussed. They also promised a cover story, telling me we would do it in a month or two of our sign-on date. They pushed it back for a year before I asked to cancel. Then, they suddenly could fit me in.When you sign on, there is a really nice presentation about their reach and the sales rep tells stories about the positive effects of their ads. I was hesitant at first, but the rep was personable, kind and calmed my fears when I asked questions about if I would need to cancel, making it sound possible if we needed to, even with a written no cancelation policy. I would not have signed without this verbal encouragement and the sales rep calming my fears while making me feel like this would actually get us a good return on investment, regardless of the terms that they just had to put into the contract.I have tried to call their legal department to negotiate and no one returns my call. The failed verbal promises & uniquely high financial burden are emotionally distressing to me.

The person who filed this report did not sit through the initial sales presentation. So anything she is saying about ROI ****, wink is not a first person account. Anytime someone asks about ROI we make it very clear that its impossible to quantitatively measure ROI and then explain the multiple touchpoints of marketing and how its impossible to know for certain which touchpoint brought a client into their business. We also mention that the majority of our clients do renew so obviously it works for them.

With respect to being on the cover of the magazine, we certainly did offer for this client to appear on the cover of our magazine as she lives in the neighborhood the magazine is delivered to. However, we never promised she would appear in the first few months of her advertising. Her family was in fact the feature family for our magazine in July of 2022.

This client was never told she could cancel the agreement at will. Anytime our local rep is asked that question her response is no, there isnt a cancellation clause, its a legal contract.

We have gone out of our way to accommodate this client and our local rep has promptly replied to all emails and phone calls (always in less than 24 hours).

In September 2022, I received a phone solicitation to contact an advertising representative . Considering I was brand new in the ****** area and had just moved my company across the country, I was interested to hear what they had to say. I set up an appointment and met with the representative. After he explained how much this would help my business to get my company in front of one the most wealthy neighborhoods near me, I agreed and signed two 36 month contracts. Being that it was close to $500/month and seeing the "no cancel" policy, I asked the representative, multiple times, verbally (my mistake, ****** learned) whether the contracts could be canceled if the advertising wasn't helping my business. I was told, "of course we can" and figured people were honest and expected it would be good business to let someone go if they werent being helped. After 4 months I have not had even one prospective client has contacted me from the Best Version Media and ***************** Solutions services. I cannot afford to continue paying nearly $500/month when it results in no clients for me. I reached out to the representative that had originally signed me up, explaining I wanted to cancel my contract and asked how I should move forward. His only responses were designed to continue my contracts. I next reached out directly to Best Version Media, where I explained to the Client Special Concerns Consultant that the services had provided no clients and that I couldnt afford to make the payments so I needed to get out of this contract because their marketing services were ultimately not helping my business. I was told that if my company was not shut down, this was a binding contract and there was no cancellation fee or anything I could do to end my contract.

In March of 2022 I entered a contract with this company I should've never entered. A referral partner recommended I speak with them. I did in the hopes of strengthening my relationship with my referral partner as he's friends with the BVM rep as well as getting more exposure. To this day, I have seen zero return on my investment as I have had not one client come from this advertisement. I do not own a business but rather work for a large company. I am now realizing I signed a contract with my company as the client when I'm not a legal signer for it. When I first spoke with the rep, I voiced my hesitation to sign a 3yr contract and he said surely we could find a way out if things weren't working as they had just done with the prior person they were working with but that conversation was had on the phone. In August I reached out to the rep in search for options to let him know my company went through a large layoff and I could not longer expense this fee. He suggested we give it until third quarter and then discuss our options. In October I reached out again as my company had another massive layoff and to top it off my step dad past away which now meant I needed to care for my mom. I was met with no sympathy but rather blamed for the publication not working for me. He said the reason it wasn't working was because I didn't send articles in. When I send something in, I'm told it's not the correct format and I do not have the capacity to write articles while doing my job. I asked to speak with someone who could help and was sent to someone at corporate who wouldn't speak with me on the phone. Just said NO when I asked about canceling and is only offering to decrease my fee from $610.60 to $567.75 with no further discussion. I wish I would've read all the reviews and complaints prior to entering the contract. They talk you into a long contract and say there are ways out of it when there aren't . Conversations over the phone are one thing and another via e-mail. Deceiving

This matter hasn't been resolved. They removed part of my package bringing my payment down by $200 and it is the only option they offered. I have explained on multiple occasions that I can no longer afford the payment due to my ***************** (no longer having a marketing budget to cover) as well as my dad's passing resulting in me having to take care of my mom full time. I need out of this contract. They talked me into a 3 year contract for something I have seen ZERO benefit from. They are deceiving and the contracts they enter people into only benefit them. I work for a large corporation and it is not my own business. I cannot continue to afford this expense.

I reached out to the salesperson for BVM, to advertise in my local town. I was told that I had to sign a contract for 12 mos to advertise in the magazine and they also would advertise on ******* The ****** account was never setup due to our type of business. We have not had 1 lead since we signed the contract in August 2022. We never received a magazine for the month of October or November. I reached out to the salesperson letting them know we have not received the magazine. I was told there was a distribution problem due to the hurricane. I asked several neighbors if they received one and was told no. I sent an email to the representative and told him that after the November issue that we need to cancel due to closing of our business. We could not keep advertising with no leads and I had to get a job working with someone else.

This client notified our local rep that he did not receive his issue of the magazine one month. We know that most all of the normal recipients did receive their magazine. Unfortunately, we cannot control the **** as that is who distributes our magazine. Our local rep did make sure that this client got a copy of the magazine.

As far as this clients business closing, we have repeatedly asked for documentation to that effect and have gotten nothing back from our client.

Just received collection letter from ******************* **** debt collector showing I owed Best Version Media $9,281.70. I have never done any business/advertising with this company.. I have never heard of this company prior to receiving this collection letter. I tried calling them and their voicemail doesn't have any billing department on their directory. I am confident this is a scam.

SUMMARY:A contract that I had been led to believe was for twelve monthly advertisements, spread over an 18 month period, and costing $269, was actually a contract for 18 monthly advertisements totaling $4,849. Best Version Media engaged in questionable and misleading business practices and obstinately refuses to be an honest party and correct the issue. To date, one ad has been published and I have paid $269 for it. I seek to end this contract immediately. BACKGROUND:I am a member of a local private nonprofit club. Acting on my own behalf and not in any official capacity, I sought to take out a local advertisement to recruit new members to the club. My intent was to advertise for a short period (one to three months) and pay for that advertisement with my own private funds. I never considered paying more than a few hundred dollars for the service since I was paying for it myself. TIMELINE:10 November I met with ********************* of Best Version Media at a local coffee shop. We discussed an ad costing $269 for 12 monthly ads spread, nonconsecutively, over the course of 18 months. I agreed. ************** put a touchscreen laptop in front of me and asked me to sign. I could see $269 and a box to sign in. ************** told me that an amendment to the contract would be emailed to specify 12 advertisements over the course of ***************************** the contract also gave Best Version Media the authority to withdraw the funds directly from my credit card account.11 November I receive and sign the amendment to the contract. I now understand the contract to be for 12 ads spread over 18 months with a total cost of $269.29 November Without notice, Best Version Media withdraws $4,849 from my credit card. Note that $4,849 is $269 times ***** December I email ************** stating I didn't realize that the quote you provided for the advertisement was a monthly payment. I thought it was the cost of the whole contract I need to cancel the contract. 13 December I email Best Version Media billing **** twice to seek resolution. On/about 15 December - I open a claim with my credit card company to dispute the $4,849 withdrawal and also cancel the credit card so that Best Version Media cannot make another withdrawal. As of 28 December 2022, the credit card claim is still under investigation.On/about 20 December The January issue of South ********* Hillside Living is published. My club advertisement is included.21 December ************** emails me stating In case you are not yet aware, BVM has refunded your money, less the January payment, which was your first month in the publication that is currently being delivered Since then we have since received notification that you have claimed a "processing error" on this transaction, which is clearly NOT the case, and we ask that you kindly drop that charge. We have deactivated the payment method on file, changed to check or ACH monthly, and turned on future invoicing for your account as well while we resolve the cancellation of your contract. This is not actually a refund, but the company now intends to bill me monthly.27 December ****************************** emails me stating The agreement is not able to be cancelled, we are willing to amend the contract as a compromise. ***** proposes reducing the contract from 18 months to 12 months, a proposal that makes no sense at all.

This company has unethical business practices. They tell you one thing then another. No follow through. The employees don't accept fault if they are the ones giving out inaccurate information, regarding products.

      Business Response

We never provided any unfulfilled promises or inaccurate information. This is totally untrue. Our presentation discussed branding and pure sponsorship. Renewal, duration, etc. were all communicated and the client signed the agreement. We also explained monthly payments. All information was accurately given and even emails with next steps regarding approving ads. This client agreed to a payment plan and then stopped paying so the account was sent to an outside collection firm.

On 04/05/2022 Best version media representative **************** met with myself, owner of ************************, LLC to discuss a business opportunity by advertising in teh St. ***** *************** based in ************* **. The amount that was quoted for my company was 195/month over a 24 month period and a guarentee return on investment after the first three months of advertising through his publication. It has been 8 months working with best version media and i have not recieved any return on investment through the leads that we promised to me. I am seeking to terminate the contract, which I was informed at time of signing, could be done at any time providing the reason for cancellation was sufficient. I recieved an email this morning threatening legal action if payment on the contract, which I have requested and provided adequate grounds for termiation, was not made. I have also just ow been informed by this letter that the term of the contract is 36month and noth the 24 months that were agreed and signed on at time of signing. I am requesting assistance from the BBB to hold the company, and the publisher for the St ***** Living, accountable to the promises that were guarenteed at time of signing.
