1 starI bought a DR brush mower with a Briggs&Stratton 10.5hp motor almost 2yrs ago. Now my first issue is with DR assembling a junk/lemon product and then telling me to eat **** when it broke. The second time it broke I was told I had to take it to a Briggs dealer to get a new recoil start assembly. After getting the run around from the Briggs Dealer I posted a complaint w the BBB and magically DR's ******** service ordered the part for me (which they should've done in the first place). Once again, I was responsible for installing the replacement part myself. At this point, I had spent more time dealing with warranty repairs than I had using my machine. I tried turning the machine over and it was still difficult, ran for a bit, then stopped and locked up-I couldn't pull the cord again. I went to my local ************* where I bought this POS and they told me since it was still under warranty they could take a look at it and try to get it repaired. The tech let me know the engine was blown, which seemed odd because I only had 10hrs on it. He tore it apart and sent pictures to Briggs. They did the normal "denied due to started with low or no oil" response-based on photos the tech sent to the third party ******** service company ********************** uses. Seems like an easy out instead of replacing a $600 (retail) motor. I'm still boggled that the motor was bad. Up until then my problems were with DR's design and construction and then their deflection of responsibility for selling me a lemon. After reading others' experiences with Briggs, I now think they're just as garbage of a company as DR. ** you have an option, go for the Kohler or ************** on your potential purchase and save the headache. At this point, I've wasted enough of my own time dealing with ******** service and working on my machine performing warranty repairs that I could've paid for a whole new machine with the value of my time. ***** Notes: DR ****** Briggs almost as much.Review fromTrent O

Terrible customer service. I ordered an in stock part which I was told it would be there with in a week. It was not with in a week so I called customer service they said whoops it back ordered even though we failed to tell you that when you ordered and even after you ordered it. They said it would be delivered by the end of the month so I said I would wait until then. It never was delivered so my dealer found the part and installed it. I wasn't able to cancel the order and then when they finally delivered it over 2 weeks after that. Now they say my only option is to return it minus shipping both ways and a 20% restocking fee. It took forever to get an email back too. When I replied to the email no one ever responded back even after multiple emails and 3 weeks. I finally called in again since it wasn't my error that I no longer need the part. I was told that its our policy even if it is our fault and there is no manager or acceptations. No sorry no I understand just that's our policy too bad.Briggs & Stratton

Remember when gas engine push lawn mowers were almost bullett proof and would last for years with little maintenance. Good luck now, Purchased two Toro lawnmowers with Briggs and Stratton engines in the last 6 years. One lasted 2 1/2 years. The one I have now began bellowing smoke and it's less than two years old. My advice is hire someone to mow your lawn instead of buying the inferior Toro lawnmowers being sold today.Briggs & Stratton

1 starWorst purchase ever. Purchased a brand new Hyper Tough 20in push lawn mower. Opened box & everything looked ok, however it took forever to start. Primed it and gas started leaking from the filter which was really odd. After priming, it took about 10-15 pulls of the cord just for the lower to start. After finally starting, I maybe did 1-2 strips in my yard before it started smoking & the belt possibly came loose because it didn’t start up again after. BRAND NEW, OUT THE BOX and not working already is a big red flag. After calling the manufacturer for a CS resolution, I was given the run around basically as Briggs & Stratton was not going to replace or fix the problem. They gave me a number to the closest mechanic that could operate on the mower which was 2.5hrs away. Not to include it was a 90$ diagnostic fee as well as maintenance charge. I definitely wasn’t going to pay that for something brand new & wasn’t my fault. So I was basically was going to be out of 260$ for a product B&S knew was refurbished and faulty. As a resolution I took it back to where I purchased the item originally & got a refund. Thank goodness. I tell everyone beware of this company and their products as they’re using it as a way to make more money off their faulty products.Review fromEmily P

I bought a Brigs and Stratton 2 stage 208 cc gas snow blower in the winter of 2021. We were looking for something reasonably priced, decent reviews, and that was 2-stages so it could handle a gravel driveway. It has been a nightmare since day one. First year, it kept on stalling or would not start at all. We thought it might have gotten water in the tank one stormy day when we were filling up the gas. We tried fresh new gas and carburetor cleaner. But still never ran right. Alway had the throttle open. Second year we didn’t use it much. Worked okay, stalled sometimes or took forever to start. The linch pin on the left wheel broke, which we replaced. Third year, before the winter season, we cleaned out the carburetor - it was so rusted and gunked up! Shocking for only two years. We got it working, appeared to have no trouble starting. Not stalling anymore. We were excited. But then the pin on left wheel breaks. We replace it. It’s breaks 5 more times in less than three uses. That’s right, a fresh new pin broke in under 10 mins of use. The power steering is also failing, staying in a locked position so the wheels won’t turn. Finally we go and use it today, the pull start cord snaps in half. We start it electrically and 30 min later. The left wheel pin breaks yet again. Absolute nightmare! The manual, and when I call to inquire, tells me to bring it to a Briggs and Stratton certified mechanic/dealer to get it looked at. But I do not have a way to transport it unless I rent a trailer and car to pull it. And if I had to do that every-time something was wrong. I’d pay more than what it is worth. DO NOT BUY! We are never buying this brand again.Briggs & Stratton

Let me just say, Briggs & Stratton have horrific engines. I purchased my Craftsman M110 mower 2 yrs ago from Lowe's. This past weekend, my mower just stopped. I had a repair person look at it. He said the engine was shot. Craftsman told me I had to speak with someone at Briggs & Stratton bc it was an engine fail. You cannot speak to anyone. They are corrupt just like other companies. They don't want to help you. All I wanted to know was, would they honor my warranty even though it was a few months past it and the fact that this mower is essentially new, you would think they would but good luck trying to speak to somoene and thers is no # on their website either. Don't purchase any mowers with their engine. They are purposefully making them shoddy so that you have no choice but to buy a new one in a couple of years. Corruption at its finest. They should have customer support available like any other company.Briggs & Stratton

My 500cc Intek started burning oil. I had a new head gasket installed. Known defect of gasket between cylinder and push rods. Now will not turn over. A very frequent fail the pressure release on the cam shift breaks. The pressure release must have happened then with more pressure knocks out the head gasket. They just kept making them knowing about the defects.Briggs & Stratton
