I purchased a map of a golf course that was meant to be a Christmas present for my boyfriend. I spent $199.95 on a map and placed the order on December 4th, 2023. On the same day I got an email confirmation of my order as well as a "your order has been updated" email. Since that time I have sent 3 separate emails asking for an update and have not received a response. I have tried calling the phone number on the website and left multiple voicemails with no call back. I should have done my research before and seen the number of complaints that have been filed and can only hope others in the future will do their due diligence unlike myself. This is 100% a scam meant to take your money and never deliver a product.Business Response

As stated on our website "For a design that has not been done before, or during high-transaction, gift-giving periods, the wait time is extended depending on the complexity of the map. This is usually listed as a minimum of **** business days but current ship dates are as much as 45 days. Maps that have not yet been designed - typically those with representative images in the product descriptions - are running closer to ***** days to ship, although we are increasing production to greatly improve upon that over the next several weeks. Please keep in mind that these are custom designed and made-to-order art pieces with countless unique factors, so actual production timelines can vary. If there is a specific date that you need your order by, please let us know in the notes section of your order and we will do our best to accommodate while still ensuring every map is crafted beautifully!"
All of our maps are custom made and we do not keep inventory in stock. Additionally, the map that you ordered is a golf course map which is a new product line for us. The reason that these maps take a little bit longer to produce, as stated on our website, is because our team is researching the course and creating the initial map design from scratch to ensure that everything is accurate on our end before we produce the physical product. Your map is in progress as our team has been working on the *** output and design and as soon as this is done your map will be produced and shipped. Sportsman Connection is a company who creates custom mapping of bodies of water across *****************. I originally reached out to Sportsman's Connection on Nov 7 to ask if they could create a custom map of the Long Island Sound. The original intention was to order for a Christmas gift. They responded with a PDF of what the map would look like and with pricing through a link provided by them. I finally placed the order on Nov 30th through the provided link and received confirmation to my email address. I created an online account several days later in order to check in on the status of the order.The order continued to state awaiting fulfillment so I decided to reach out to the company via email and ******** message, where I originally contacted them. I began to search recent posts of the company on ******** and realized that there were potentially hundreds of people who were in the same boat as me, all waiting for an answer as to when our order would be fullfilled.I am looking for the custom map to be created and shipped to me. A partial refund for the inconvenience would be appreciated in addition to the product since this is something that is not easy to find through another businessInitial Complaint

I placed my order on October 10, 2023 and according to their website items typically ship within **** business days. I became worried at the beginning of November when I had not heard anything about this order. I have sent 4 emails (attached) to the address listed on their website. I never received a single response to any of my emails.I also have tried calling them on the number listed on their website numerous times, ************. I did speak with one gentleman around the middle of November. He said my product was scheduled for production the week of November 13th. I have followed up several times via email and phone since the week of November 13th with zero response. Yesterday (12/11/23) I left them one final message, alerting them of my extreme disappointment with the customer service. I was simply looking for a return call or email letting me know if my product will arrive by Christmas. I informed them that if I did not hear back by today (12/12/23), I would be disputing the charge and contacting the BBB.At this point I am so disgusted with this company. I have chosen a new Christmas gift for the person I purchased this for in October and no longer want/need this. I have escalated the issue with PayPal and expect a refund in January. My purpose for this BBB complaint is to inform potential new customers that this company is either fraudulent or lacks any knowledge of customer service. Still to this day I see countless social media posts from this company advertising their product. I placed an order online on November 2 for $159.95 and received an email on November 6 that my order changed status to "awaiting fulfillment". Ordered wood-engraved map of Guilford Lake on October 31, 2023. FAQs page said product ships within **** business day and no refunds. Left multiple phone messages and sent emails with no response from company. Finally on 12/11/2023 VJ answered the phone and assured product would ship by 12/13/2023 and arrive before Xmas. On 12/19/2023 I called again and VJ said that it was scheduled to ship on 12/18/2023 (yesterday) with no guarantee to arrive by Xmas. No tracking number has been received as of this date. When asked about the assurances made on 12/11 he accused me if being a liar!!!Customer Answer

I ordered and paid for a wooden map depicting The Upper Rideau Lake on October 9,2023 I emailed with a question on expected delivery, on October 16th. I called them on October 17th I was told I would receive the map before Thanksgiving. I havent received the map yet. I have called at least 8 times. My call goes to voicemail. I have left a message with my concerns every time. I have never heard back. I am so disappointed. This was a gift for my husband, a very sentimental gift. This is not the way to run a business. Place an order (#******) on 10/26/2023 for a map of a local lake with Sportsman's Connection (scmaps.com). Received a confirmation that the order was received with the status "awaiting fulfillment" on the same day the order was placed. As of today 12/14/2023 the order status has remained unchanged. ("awaiting fulfillment"). After not receiving any further communication from this firm and seeing no updated order status on their website, I have requested an update via their website, on 12-5-2023 and 12-8-2023 requesting an update on the expected delivery date. As of today, I have received no response. I have reached out to their customer service line and was not able to talk to a person, just an automated device, and left a message. Still no response. Non-responsive, and as a result, appeared to be a scam. After reading other complaints this seems to be a pattern for this company. I placed an order for Christmas gift for my husband on November 27. It is supposed to be a laser cut map of ******* and ******* islands. I was charged $143.95. I placed an order for a custom carved wooden map on September 24th, 2023 for a total of $167.95. At that time according to their FAQ page, "For a design that has not been done before, or during high-transaction, gift-giving periods the wait time is extended depending on the complexity of the map. This is usually listed as a minimum of **** business days. Please keep in mind that these are custom designed and made-to-order art pieces with countless unique factors, so actual production timelines can vary." My map would fall into this category. I followed up on their website portal on October 31, 2023 asking for an update. I was told "t looks like your order is currently in production. We are currently looking at around 2 months production time for orders that have not been designed before. We will try our best to get your order to you by end of November. We hope this helps!"I sent another follow up on the website on 12/1, 12/4, 12/5 with no response. I sent an email on 12/4 and 12/5. I made phone calls on 12/4 and 12/5 and left messages. I know my map may still be in production, however the lack of response from this company makes me concerned that this is a scam. All I am asking for is an ETA as we are at 72 days since I placed my order. If there is not contact from this company soon, I will be asking for a refund. To me the most appalling part is the lack of contact to the customer. If I had received replies with an ETA as to the delay, I would have been understanding.
