The engine was bad right out of the box. Its been almost 2 months and no repair. I want Generac to come get this piece of junk and refund all the money I paid for it. I will find another company that makes a better product!

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!They spend all their money on infomercials and the h*** with customer service. Had the **** thing for a year still not working right so angry 9000.00 for a concrete weight. When power goes out only a 1/4 of the house has power and not the 1/4 I care about! We basically have lights NO appliances, heater anything important. This is now third time trying to get someone here to fix and so frustrated I only hopes is if I can get it running then sell the piece of junk. Junkarac is the real name for this company

If I was able to rate less than one star, I would.
I purchased a (Generac) Coleman Powermate 5000 years ago. I didn’t need to use it until Hurricane Ian. I ran the generator for two weeks after. When I did maintenance on the generator I found that there was NO air filter and the housing unit was full of black gunk.
Since October of 2022 I have called six times. I have NEVER received an apology. I was promised a “maintenance package valued at over $100” which I still have not received.
I have spoken to Carly, Sandi, Don, Rob, Lisa, and Supervisor Dominique who was the most rude of anyone I dealt with. Her solution is to spend $200 to have the generator inspected and I might “possibly” be reimbursed.
Wish I would have read all the one star ratings before I purchased.
I will do my best to post on as many social media sites as possible so that others don’t make the same mistake.

      Dear Sirs: 2/7/2023
Currently, I wrote a letter via US mail with receipt to Generac Corporation, Kyle *****, President Comsumer Power in Waukesha, WI regarding my complaints on January 31, 2023. I'll make it simple.
The general contractor, Building Services of Chicago, Wolfgang ********* installed my Generac generator in July 2022.
The contractor's contract was for a Generac warranty for 7 years. The contractor submitted a 5-year warranty to Generac which is in-correct. I contracted Generac, Eric *****, customer service to help resolve by concern. After a few weeks, I called customer service and ask for Eric, but was given to Therese another customer service representative. Therese called Building Services of Chicago, Wolfgang on a 3-way call which included.me regarding the revision of warranty from 5 years to 7 years. Wolfgang informed us that he'd re-write the warranty from a 5 year to 7 year and submit it to Generac warranty department. I was then referred to the resolution department, Gabrielle ***** to follow up with my complaints. As of this date "no resolution" has been reached.
2nd The contractor was supposed to add my generator on to his fleet monitoring, but of this date he has not done so. I paid him for this service at the time of the written contract. I want a refund due to me because the contractor has not fulfilled the contract. This complaint was address to Generac Corp. Gabrielle *****.
3rd This recommended contractor was a preferred contractor by Generac Corp. Since the contractor has rescinded the contract. I do not want any dealings with him. Generac Corp. Gabrielle ***** is aware of this complaint as well.
Again Mr. Kyle ***** or Wolfgang ********* has not responded to any of my complaints via emails or calls.
Please assist me in resolving these complaints.

Our home standby generator failed---10 days out of warrenty. Had 350 hours and maintenence was done by the book. We contacted Generac over a month ago, forwarded all the necessary documentation and was given a case number. After that---nothing. We have called repeatedly over the past two weeks, been told the person that is assigned was not available, sent to VM. No calls back. Finally tracked down a director who is in charge of customer service and finally got a call back from the assigned person. Was told they would get back to me in 24 hours. No call back for a week. More calls to Customer Service, finally got connected to our assigned person only to be told the person who makes the decisions was on vacation. And so it goes. I work with people in service roles professionally and have never witnessed something so dysfunctional. My recommendation is if you have a problem don't give up. They are counting on that.

Ordered a Generac Generator (Whole house 24kW Guardian) after installing my first issue was the battery was bad, (leaking) replaced that and tried generator again. Worked great for 10 minutes until it threw a code "underspeed" #1600 and called Generac. They were fairly quick to answer. We went over the code and they said to call a local authorized repair person. Only, turns out despite having a warranty on a brand new generator the consumer has to pay the "authorized" repair/dealer. Which I had known that before hand. Brand new generator and have to pay over $400 to have someone come look it and possibly fix it. Great. Stay away from these folks. Not a good experience.

Bought 8000 watt portable on 1/29/22, had to use it for the first time around Christmas ran great for the first 20 hours. You could hear it change rpm and then it would start surging and eventually it would stall, it would start back up again and it would do the same thing again a short time later, it would do it over and over again, while starting it up again and again the electric start stopped working, wouldn’t crank over. Call Generac with hours left on warranty on a Sunday, they told me that the labor will not be covered cause it actually is over the day before one year, I told them that I didn’t have possession of the generator for a complete year till a few hours later, they told me to call back during the week. So I called them back and they said that it’s over the time and they won’t help with the labor though I called them and told them I’m having issues with the generator, they said it has to have a claim by an authorized repair dealer, they said no way around it. From reading reviews here and other places I see why they have poor reviews. DO NOT buy anything from this company!

Horrible Customer Support... Classic Insurance Company setup... Dismissive; quick to reject service and warranty claims first time around and them make you chase them around until to you give up or need to pay out of pocket because of an emergency, Perfect example of what happens when one company has market dominance with few alternatives available...

It's a shame we didn't read this before being stupid enough to buy a Generac generator. It appears our experience is like those already added to the BBB site. We bought a generator 9/20/22 under a Generac 10-year warranty promotion. Nothing we saw said there were time limits to get the warranty other than buy before 9/25 and activate before 12/4/22. I called Generac to get an estimate. They referred me to ***** Generator in ***********. Earliest ***** could come to do an estimate was mid-to-late October, and installation would be mid-February 2023. This from one of Generac's most honored dealers. No way to get the 10 year warranty from them. Bought the generator from ********* ******** *****. and it was delivered 9/28. Electrician couldn't install it until 12/2/22, and the unit was activated then. We expected the 10-year warranty. NOPE ! I find out there was not just 'small' print, but for us, invisible print. We had to APPLY for the extra warranty. Sent the application in and it was denied, because applications had to be in by 12/4/22 at 11:59pm. Filed appeal with the Customer ************* in ********. On 12/28, Mr. ****** Generac rep, denied our appeal due to our application being late by 3 days. No exceptions could be made. But, they'd be happy to assist us with our product. You must be kidding ! We bought before 9/25 and activated before 12/4 - they had the serial number and knew who sold this unit and when. 'Nuff said ? No 'application' ought be needed. I am now looking into Kohler generators and will have this ripped out and removed. Before doing business with these people, check, double-check, triple-check the ad or paperwork. If you don't, you might end up like us and all these other people who listed complaints. We are in our 70's and thought having a generator was a sound idea. Seems now the 'buy a generator' scam on TV is equal to all the senior citizens with limited or no hearing buying Bose radios ! There ought to be a ZERO star rating available.
