I paid $733.25 to repair my washing machine. I was told after the diagnosis of the machine that it needed a ******** assembly. After purchasing this part and it was installed the technician said the machine was OK. Shortly after he left I put 4 dish towels in to wash and the problem was worst that it was before he fixed it.
When I complained that the problem was not fix the company is saying the machine needs a Transmission assembly which cost $1282.61. I would like to have them refund me for the ******** assembly and come and take it.Initial Complaint

We used this company to repair a European dryer - *******. Tech said he’d never worked on one before.
The dryer worked but did not spin. March 3, 2023 was charged $581.27 of the $748.79 total at the first visit and told a belt and pulley assembly would be ordered. Disassembled machine was left in the mud room until Mar 23, 2023. Was only supposed to take a few days I was told. When he came back he finished up and turned it on. It worked. Paid the remaining $ 264.87. Said at some point in the future we may need to replace motor but as it was a good machine and not old or in constant use, if we didn’t run it hard, we could get a few years out of it. Went away for a month without using it before we left. Upon my return tried to use it. It didn’t spin. **** ******* *** ** * *** ** ****** When I called I was told I now need a $1417.66 +tax motor assembly. This was written on the final invoice but not presented as the next step in order to have a working appliance. **** ******* ******* **** ******* ** ** **** ********* *** *** ***** *** *** *** **** ***** **** ****** *** ** ******* ** ** **** ********* *** ********* **** *** **** ***** ******* ************ I will return the parts and want that amount ($529.73) returned to me. On Sat., April 1, 2023, at approx. 9:30am I called "The A Team Appliance Repair" to book an appointment for my ********* fridge that was leaking water. I called from ***** ****** ***** as I was working that day from 9am to 12pm. I am Personal Banking Specialist - Lending. The repair company booked me an appointment for after 2pm. As soon as I ended the call, a colleague advised me to call back and cancel as the reviews of the company state they are not a reputable service company. I quickly called back (approx. 2 min after I made the appointment) and advised I would like to cancel the appointment I just made 2 min ago. The girl replied that I could not cancel and that I would pay for the service regardless. I advised again, no I am cancelling the appointment I just spoke with you 2 minutes ago. I arrive home at 1230pm, a man shows up at my door saying he was from "The A Team Appliance Repair Company". I explained to him I cancelled the appointment. He refused and said you must pay us $90. I advised I cancelled the appointment 2 min after the booking. He stated you cannot cancel the appointment. I asked him to leave my property.
Since April 1st, I have received three calls demanding money from the same lady at this company who will not provide her name, *********** me to pay or she will take this to a collection company stating you have X number of days. Then the calls escalated to "I had to the end of this week April 28, 2023” to pay. On Friday, April 28, 2023, at 10:52am, this same lady at this company called my place of employment (***** ****** *****). She proceeded to tell ***** ****** ***** I had booked an appointment and owe them $90.40, and she will be proceeding with a collection agency. The phone number my employer said she called from was ************. Not only is this embarrassing this is outrageous, not to mention a breach of privacy. My employer advised I need to report this company immediately.
This company not only works without any work ethics they are misrepresenting this line of work in ******** and *********** people to pay for something they did not receive. In obtaining another repair man to service my fridge the same day, he stated this company is well known in the industry for their tactics and over charging people for their service. He also stated I need to report them. This complaint is now wavering on ********** laws as well privacy laws to relay personal information to my employer and falsify. This company did not receive payment information from me, nor did I ever receive any invoice for authorized/ signed service of any kind. For my protection, I have called Equifax to report them. They have advised to check in monthly, which has initiated me a cost to do so. The company cannot access my credit bureau report without my permission, and they cannot report any item to my credit bureau for a service I did not authorize or receive.Initial Complaint

On April 17, my wife called the Appliance Repair Team (416-848-7578) about a dryer repair and gave them our address and asked to send someone. That person was expected to arrive in about 4+ hrs. Immediately after there was a personal emergency that required us to cancel the appointment. I called back within 10 mins of the scheduled appointment and asked to cancel. They said there was a fee and immediately ********** to send collections after us if we didn't pay. I asked to speak to a Manager and was put through. After explaining the situation, the Manager explicitly agreed to waive the fees. I thanked her and thought the problem was solved. On May 4, the company left a message with my wife saying that we had an outstanding balance and they would be sending collections after us. I returned the call and stated that a Manager had agreed to waive the fees based on our personal situation and quick reply that day. The person who I spoke to put me on hold briefly and then stated that the Manager denied waiving the fee and noted that I had agreed to call back and pay at a later date. This was absolutely not true. I stated that the Manager was not telling the truth and the employee ****** told me that she had nothing further to speak to me about and that they would be sending collections after us for $94 and that this would damage our credit score.Initial Complaint

I was promised an approx $80 charge for the technician to come out and diagnose the dishwasher problem. After they opened up the dishwasher, they wanted over $300 to tell us the motor was not working and they wanted approx $800 to replace (another repair person found the issue with the drain and repaired it for $50). The repair person refused to leave until they were paid $300. The original promise was $80 to diagnose.Initial Complaint

**** ******* ******* ***** ******* ***** ********** They say that the charge an $80 fee which will be waived if you elect to have them fix the repair. They then charge you for the labour in advance which according them is non refundable. They did not follow-up, eventually after my 3rd call they indicated they cannot source the part and will refund only the cost charged for the part. They say that the labour cost charged at the beginning was for the service initial service call. They do not explain this when reviewing the terms with you. I am only receiving a refund for $250 of the $485 that was paid. I will supposedly be receiving this in 10-15 business days. I'm very doubtful I will receive this given how my interactions with this company have been so far.Initial Complaint

I contacted the A Team Appliance company to have them do a service call for a washer and a stack-able unit. I was advised that the fee is $80 to have a tech attend and if service was provided the fee was waived. The A team Appliance company sent a rep to my home on May 1st, at approximately 2:50 p.m. I had requested a service call for two issues: my top load ** washer has a problem with the dial selector and with an older stack-able ** washer/dryer unit. The tech advised that to fix the ** unit requires a new control panel at a cost of $697. and then for the stack-able unit he advised it is not worth fixing but to fix the ** as that one would be like new. I advised no, I wasn't spending $700 for a 2-year old washer I spent $1000 on as I'd rather just buy new. So he then advised he could service my older ** unit as most times its the control panel not sending the signal. He advised that fee is $295 plus tax. I advised OK I am willing to pay that to which he demanded payment before starting. He looked at the washer briefly and then advised he couldn't get the parts it needed but quoted $978. He never did service my unit as he was gone by 3:10 p.m. I feel that this company's business practices are *********, and the $80 fee should have covered him looking at the washer and dryer. He did nothing for the $295 and in fact violates his own company policy by demanding money upfront. It is fair to pay $80 for the service call that lasted 20 minutes, this I have no problem with but certainly a dishonest practice to scam customers for $300.Initial Complaint

I contacted this company on 28/04/2023 to repair an icemaker that was not working. I was quoted an initial visit charge of $80, which would be waived if I preceded with the recommended repair. The technician arrived, immediately opened the fridge, pulled the icemaker try out and said that the motor was broken and needed to be replaced. The total quote of $768.61 which included labour and parts. I paid $384.30 as a deposit and was informed that the part would take between 5-7 business days to arrive. Later that evening, I pushed the reset button on the fridge and sure enough the following morning the ice machine was working. I contacted them Sat. afternoon informing them that their service was no longer needed as the ice machine was working, and was then told to contact them Monday morning, of which I did today. I was advised that of my total $384.30 paid, I was only going to receive a refund of $7.42. I spoke to the Office Manager, who was adamant that the technician did perform the required service, however, all the technician did was pull the ice maker out of the fridge. Nothing was taken apart, nor tested or repaired. I was told the Labour Fee of $265 was non-refundable regardless of whether the problem was fixed or not. ****** **** *****Initial Complaint

Said it was $80 for diagnostics and after spending a few minutes they said it would be $290 to fix the problem. When they went to “fix it” they said that there was a part issue and it would be $1100 to order. They should be able to tell if a new part is needed when they diagnose the problem and not after. What’s the point of having a diagnosis then??? Paid over $327.70 for nothing when they should have been able to tell us what the actual problem was before they “tried” fixing it.
I am ok with paying the $80 diagnosis fee but the $210 needs to be refunded since they were ********* and did not resolve the problem. What was the point of having a diagnosis done with they couldn’t pin point the right issue and charged over $300 for doing nothing.
