I need to file a formal business complaint as to the ******** customer service this company provides. There is no way to email customer service and they require you to call regarding any service issue. I have called and remained on hold for close to an hour. Companies cannot operate like this and must provide customers more adequate access to their company customer service. It is by design that they make it near impossible to get in touch with them. This is a trend that we have witnessed over the last 15 years. Companies continue to make it extremely difficult to navigate their human service options. Likely to make it more difficult to cancel or dispute a service. This company, Republic Services, needs to be investigated for consumer fraud.Business Response

The service provided by Republic services is poor at best. The frequency I need to call to report them not picking up our trash is unacceptable. They constantly do not provide a service we are paying for and never provide any compensation for the services they are not providing. It is criminal to charge people for a service and not provide it. If service is not provided a refund should be made. This is also a health issue as our garbage sits for weeks on end as they don't come back to pickup the trash until the next week allowing maggots and insects to accumulate.Business Response

We are not intentionally missing any customers pick up. Sometimes we find the cart placement is incorrect, or the customer is putting the container out on the wrong day. Then there are issues in which we miss the cart due to an unfamiliar employee or other circumstances that we own. If the non pick up is our fault, I have provided refunds to customers and would do so in this case. Also, there has been a significant in our area preventing us from getting up some hills. This is likely to be the cause for the last 10 days. However the customer indicates an ongoing issue, so I will get personally involved with the driver and supervisors to determine what is occurring and remedy the issue ASAP.

I am part of a contracted community, ************************, in ******, ********. We have entered the second year of a three year contract. Homeowners received a letter from ******* ******, Account Manager, ********************************************************************. We received a copy of the customer service agreement. I was correctly charged in year one, $59.00 per quarter. The year two price agreement is $63.13 per quarter. I have been charged $71.67. I have spoken with customer service and the sales department four times, and also once online chat. This began three weeks ago. I was told my report had been "expedited" to "division". Only one of these five people seemed to be aware of the Covered Bridge Community Contract, but they were unable for some reason to correct my bill. I was told at one point to pay the incorrect amount to keep my account from being in arrears. I have never received further information or a correction. Our community (approximately 200 homes) has posted numerous frustrated comments about problems with incorrect contract bills with Republic Services. I did pay the incorrect bill amount. I request that my billing account be corrected and my account credited for the overpayment.Business Response

Our Operations Supervisor has tried calling this customer twice to see what we can do, he went to their home today and the resident told him he shuts his phone off during the day so they can sleep. It has come to our attention that the "personal containers" the resident was using were laundry baskets. Republic Services has consistently provided horrendous trash removal and recycling since we moved in. Our recycling bill has increased consistently over the past few years, and the trash collection courtesy has deeply declined. In addition to damaging our yard multiple times by slamming down the containers, they recently shattered our recycling cart and have closed our requests twice now when we've reached out asking for a new container. We live off a main road and collectors often throw our bins into the street, causing a safety hazard for the public. I wish we had a different option, but we will be cancelling all additional services outside of what is provided by our county.Business Response

I sent Republic 2 written notices, months before, to terminate service on Nov 30, 2024. The company I switched to even supplied the forms. I did NOT receive service after Nov. 30th. Their can has been picked up. I did not have a contract with Republic. Technically, the service is under my husbands name and he has since passed away. They are threatening to send me to collections for $64, that I don't owe. Seems very unjust.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out. I see from the notes that I sent you an email on 01/28 stating that you would need to call in to cancel and I received no reply. The letter from the other hauler, we do not take cancellation letters. You did need to call in to cancel. I also tried calling with no replies due to wrong number on the account. I will go back and credit the $64.47. In the future, if you are canceling a service, please make sure you are following up with the service to make sure it is canceled. The carts were still on the property and we needed to schedule a removal of them, and yes we did get them removed, eventually. According, we consider this matter to be resolved.

I have never signed an agreement with Republic Service, nor was I aware of any city and county agreements. It seems ridiculous that I was not able to have a say in my utility services as a first-time home buyer. Companies like Republic Service bullied and took advantage of me, trying to make me pay for services provided to this address for an entire 18 months before I purchased this property. They have an unfair monopoly within this city, and I am actively looking to join any class action lawsuit against their monopoly status. I had limitless options of people and places to work with while buying a home, but once I purchased, I no longer could choose who services my home. Republic Services is our Trash Service through the City of *******. They only pick up bulk trash once a month on a certain week. Our week for my address was the week of 2/2 through 2/7. They showed up in our neighborhood on Tuesday 2/3. They collected bulk trash from all my neighbors but missed mine. So I called Republic Services that day and was told by ******* that someone would be out today to pick up bulk trash by 8 PM. No one came so I called the next day Wednesday and ******* said again they would come today by 6 PM. I called back that same day and spoke to a Shireen (unsure of the spelling) who said they would definitely be back by 6 PM, when I mentioned I didn't feel very confident she just hung up on me. Again they did not pick up our bulk trash nor try to contact me. Thursday I called City of ******* who referred me to *** ****** their liaison for Republic who said they would be out by 7 PM to pick up my bulk trash. Again they did not show up nor attempt to contact me. Friday I called *** ****** again and she said they would come by 7 PM. Then I got a message from *** saying their representative would come by to discuss how much it would cost to pick up my bulk trash! I called her back at 3:30 PM and advised there was only a patio umbrella, a chair mat and 8 pieces of shipping cardboard 3 foot long. There would typically be no charge for this. She asked had anyone called or come by and I said no. She again promised that someone would come to home by 7 PM. Guess what, no one came by nor attempted to contact me. Republic missed the bulk pick up, and I understand that mistakes happen. However, to mislead me for the rest of the week is not acceptable. I pay my bill and follow all their rules and shouldn't be treated this way.Business Response

Republic was made aware of this situation this morning when the call was passed on from the customer to The City of *******. The customer was contacted, and recovery of the brush has been scheduled. The system had this as recovered on the 5th of February which was a human error as it was not. As a note we perform over ******* services a month within the city and this one unfortunately slipped through the cracks.
Recovery of the bulk was completed 2/10/2025. Also, this is not a business but an individual residence.

Mistakes happened as I mentioned in my complaint and I get that. The driver Easton, who picked up my bulk trash this morning Monday, said that no one contacted him all last week. This after I called 4-5 times Tuesday through Friday and was hung up on by *******. I think its awful that I had to file a complaint to get Republic to come back to my house. It should and could have been handled better than this.

I signed up for the Republic Recycle November 2023. Account # ************** .The pick up is scheduled bi weekly on Fridays. Since that time, there were 10 missed pick **** I report it and it will finally be picked up the following Tuesday. If I would not do that, the can would be sitting on the curb for 2 weeks. This is getting old. If Republic does not want to recycle, just let me know so I can save my money and not pay for a service I don't receive.Business Response
