I cancelled my account well before my billing date of 8/27, today. I even received confirmation of cancellation and telling me the postage left over would be credited to my card. They still charged me over 19 dollars for this next 30 days. I wouldn't do this but this seems to be a recurring situation with them and they ******** my bank account. I want to be refunded for that and the fee.Business Response

Dear ****,
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customers concerns very seriously. Normally, a customer is responsible for all service fees. However, rest assured that we have issued a courtesy refund totaling $19.32 on 8/28/23 and $19.99 on 9/1/23 to your credit card. We show that your account is closed. Your confirmation number is: 230901-004079. Rest assured we have submitted a refund request for the remaining purchased postage balance.
We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding our billing. As stated in our Terms of Use, Stamps.com always bills in arrears at the end of each cycle, rather than in advance. We do not bill at the beginning of the cycle.
As disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which ended on your account on 7/27/23. We show that you first contacted us to cancel on 8/24/23.
We show that you were charged for the following cycles:
*July 28, 2023 to August 26, 2023.
*June 28, 2023 to July 28, 2023.
We do consider both fees charged to be valid and appropriate. However, we have refunded both fees for you.

Received a promo code for free stamps from Stamps.com in August of 2023. Created an account and tried to submit the promo code but it wouldn't work. Several months later I discovered a charge on my card and learned they had enrolled me in a monthly service which I did not agree to. I have not used any of their services.Business Response

We never charge people without their full agreement and awareness during our online registration process. Our service fee is not based on usage or activity. The monthly subscription service fee that Stamps.com charges is for access of the Stamps.com software, which allows customers to print postage from the comfort of their home or small office using just a PC and a printer. Our service is a monthly subscription service so its not based on usage of the software, but rather on having access to using it.

TLDR:STAMPS.COM Has been charging me a monthly fee for TWO YEARS without notifying me or sending any kind of bill/notification or reasonable correspondence. $500 or so has been taken from my account without any kind of billing statement, billing history etc.Well I happened to catch an email from my credit card company that was a payment of $20.19 in August of this year (2023). I then emailed them about it as I couldn't find any "adjustments" on my recent shipments. I had initially tried stamps when PayPal changed their shipping program to *********** which had a poor interface, and somehow stuck with Stamps assuming it was a free service and that they made money with their contracts between shipping carriers and the insane amount of overpriced supplies they offer. So they respond with "I am sorry you have received an unexpected charge on your account and would love to assist you confirm what the charge is for. After reviewing your account, I can see that you are normally charged every month on the 12th for your monthly service fee. Please see the list below I have included to show the past monthly service fee ********. " and a list of charges that they can access and I have spent the last 45min looking for on my account with them (to no avail). I am horrified that I hadn't noticed they were charging this Egregious $20 a month for a service that is available FOR FREE on many other platforms. Not to mention the list of other issues I've had with them not covering insured packages that were lost and so on. I then searched this issue as I assumed I couldn't be the only one, and find there a many others with this same issue. I have no idea how stamps is able to get away with what I would consider theft. They ******* your email every-time you put money on your account (you have pre-pay your account before making a label) so searching me email for a charge from them is impossible. I just hope people will read this and avoid STAMPS sneaky and disgusting business methods.Business Response

Thank you for your feedback regarding supplies. The Stamps.com service and software are useable without any special supplies or equipment. This is a scam. I signed up in March 23 to try to get a better rate on a shipping postage. I signed up for an account and was never notified that I would be charged $20 a month after the free trial had ended and they even charged $20 to cancel. I called a customer service rep who told me that because I cancelled online, they couldn't stop the cancellation charge. What a *****. I ended up being charged for 5 months, shame on me for not looking at my bill closely. I'm writing this review for everyone else that *** have an account to watch out, this is an absolute scam.Business Response

I am yet another consumer who was tricked by this unethical company's deliberately shady sign-up process, which cleverly hides the fact that there is a $20 per month fee just to have a STAMPS.COM account. If this fact had not been hidden from me during the sign-up process, I NEVER would have agreed to an account. I am sure a company representative will reply with the same copy-paste response they give everyone else who complains about this unethical business practice, but the fact that there is complaint after complaint after complaint, all for the same thing, proves that STAMPS.COM needs to improve their sign-up process. They won't change a thing, though, because they are raking in big bucks by intentionallly deceiving customers, and this is how the company CHOOSES and WANTS to do business or they would have chosen to make improvements to their sign-up process long ago. STAMPS.COM also refuses to give refunds and will not provide even a pro-rated refund as I have cancelled my account only 3 days into the billing period, but they insist they must keep the entire monthly fee and they refuse to offer any sort of refund at all. This company is unethical and should be avoided. They do business by tricking poor suckers like me and they are happy to make money this way. I am not happy being made a poor sucker though. But STAMPS.COM doesn't care about customers, only about tricking people out of money.Business Response

I tried to buy stamps once from this site - the stamps they sold are useless as they require you to go to a facility with a special printer in order to print the order - this is no different than going to the post office, which is the thing were trying to avoid. More important they sign you up for an account WITHOUT TELLING YOU THEY WILL DO THIS. To this date they have charged me nearly $200 in recurring $20 monthly fees that I did not consent to. Im sure there was some tiny fine print somewhere on the website that said this would happen. But lets be real. This is a scam this is how scammers behave and its disgusting. Please punish this company they have clearly been stealing money from people and wasting our time making us beg to get our money back.Business Response

On our main page at www.stamps.com, we explain our fees under the section "Here's how it works..." During the registration process we do make sure that our customers are aware of the monthly service fee in that we have it detailed on the webpage titled Why do you need my credit card information?
We do this so that customers can see the price before they complete the registration process. We also have the billing policy detailed in our Terms and Conditions at:
www.stamps.com/conditions
Customers are required to review and agree to these Terms prior to completing registration.
In addition, potential customers can review and compare our pricing plans, as well as other important information, to determine which plan best meets their mailing needs via the Learn More section which is accessible from the Stamps.com home page. I made an account with ********************** after trying to navigate the **** website. All I wanted to do was to print labels on packages since I had a few. The website was incredibly difficult to navigate and the label never print. This turned out to be a subscription service that did nothing for me. I used a gift card initially because of how sketchy they seemed. I wanted to print less than 5 labels, why do I need to be charge a MONTHLY fee?? I can't even get clear information on the site to purchase a few labels or not. I decided to cancel the account and they still continue to send me services fee. I contact them on phone and they told me send in my credit card information on basically a word document, wait 48 hours for a confirmation of payment. Not only are they unable to send me a summation of what was said on the call, any follow up emails on the billing or updates of if they will continue to try to charge me or not, they said it was my job to follow up on them or else I'll be charged another month. I do not have access to my account anymore and they cannot ***** me access so the only way to resolve this is send in my credit card info on a word document... The customer service representative gave me no insurance of this being resolved and made me feel like I was trying to avoid the payment. I don't get any confirmation that they received my credit card information submission. The representative gave me no insurance that this will be resolved or my information is protected. She said she's escalated this issue but this whole process is unprofessional and primitive. The reference number : #******-001959. I do not want to be contacted by them ever again after resolving this bill and I've read other reviews of people just being charged unknowingly regardless if they used this service. The fact that information is so convoluted on their website, making an account didn't clarify anything. Making the account made the whole situation worse.Business Response

Since 10/13/21, I have been charged a monthly fee of $17.99. on 4/13/23, the monthly charge increased to $19.99. I never signed up for this monthly subscription service. I have never used any of the services for this company. I just realized this today, 8/10/23 and I was able to successfully cancel the account. However, I would like to receive a refund for the full amount: 18 months @ $17.99 plus 4 months @ $19.99 = $403.78. Today, upon calling the company, they agreed to refund me only $59.38. This leaves a balance refund I'm seeking of $344.44.Business Response

Stamps.com has been charging me $20+ a month for I don't know how long. I don't remember agreeing to this! I used the service just to buy postage as I needed. I have no need for a "subscription". This is a very shady business practice. I can't even find a payment history on their website to see how long they've been charging me.Business Response

I started getting charged from stamps.com from May of 2020 $17.99 a month up until February 2023, then in March of 2023 to July 2023 I was getting charged $19.99 a month. At no point did I ever receive an email or a letter from the company notifying me that they started charging me a monthly fee starting in May of 2020. In May of 2020 they sent emails when they charged my card when I began purchasing postage but not about the monthly service fee. I spoke to a representative and I explained the situation. He agreed that I should have gotten some sort of notification for all service and purchase charges each month. I would have received that just like all the other notifications of postage increases, postage purchases and other various messages from stamps.com. and he said that they cannot have the charges refunded. I tried to resolve it through them but he told me that they would not refund my account. After reading comments of other complaints, it is clear that I am not alone in the way stamps.com conducts its business around their service charges. I've been charged a total of $693.62. I am requesting a full refund for all the monthly service fees that have been charged to my credit card.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Not once did I get a bill for the subscription fee or confirmation of the charges. If I would have gotten the bill for the subscription fee after the first month of service, I would have cancelled immediately. You always get an email from stamps.com for purchasing stamps along with emails on updates on stamps related subjects, so it makes the customer believe that they are getting all the information/bills/charges from the company when they are not. I feel that to make things right I get a full refund of $693.62.

Dear ****,
Thank you for your feedback and perspective on this. We do consider the fees charged to be valid and appropriate. Stamps.com accounts cannot be created without customers indicating that theyve read the terms and conditions, which explain we charge a service fee. Our terms are available at: ********************************************
We also detail the fee during registration and at several places on our website. Customers always have the option of reviewing their Account Fees in the Reports section of their software, which is available at all times under the Expenses tab. Our charges are also listed on credit card statements with the descriptor of "Stamps.com". The descriptor also includes our Support Number. We have carefully reviewed your account history and have found the service fees that were applied are in accordance with the Service Agreement to which you agreed.
However, your satisfaction is very important to us and we have determined that a refund will be given. We have issued an additional courtesy refund in the amount of $200.00 to your credit card. Please allow 3-5 business days for this credit to be applied to your account. The credit *** not be reflected immediately on an online statement. Please allow one billing cycle to pass before it is reflected on a paper statement.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: While I appreciate your correspondence and the "courtesy refund" that you have given thus far, I feel that the full refund of $693.62 is a resolution satisfactory to me. As I said before, if I had received emails of the recurring charges like when I purchase stamps or emails of updated postal notices, I would have cancelled immediately. The way it is set up with stamps.com makes it seem that when you purchase stamps, that the surcharge for the service is priced in, especially since you get emails for every little thing in regards to stamps.com. Looking at past complaints, I am not the only person that has had this issue. It seems that it has been going on for years and the way stamps.com has conducted it's correspondence through emails has not changed even though it is an obvious problem. It is a simple fix to an ongoing problem, include all charges incurred with an email like all other correspondence with customers.
Sincerely,
