After reviewing my recurring credit card charges, I was surprised to find recurrent charges $20/month by stamps.com for the past year, resulting in fees of $240.00. The first transaction appears to be from June, 2022. I created an account on usps.com to purchase sheets of stamps, and verified that I have placed no orders with them since November 2022. I had not authorized any charges for stamps.com, and I did not use their services ever to print stamps. I have no emails from them. I think that many people, including myself, may have thought at some point that stamps.com was affiliated with ***** I did a search online and now see similar stories indicating the practices of stamps.com and the what appears to be ways they can hide charges when an individual creates a log-in/account. I would like a full refund for these service charges.Thank you for your kind consideration and assistance.***************************** ********************************************************************* ************ mobileBusiness Response

I used Stamps.com to print a shipping label, making a ONE time purchase. Without my knowledge, I have been charged 20$/ month for the past 3 months for a service that I did not sign up for nor have ever wanted to use. The only reason I realized I was being charged was because I am on a very strict budget and was 20$ past it this week. I would have continued to be charged for this amount had I not checked. The most worrying part of this is that each time I was charged, it was under a slightly different name in my bank account, meaning that even if I blocked the charge, they would charge me again, just under a different name the next time. This is a classic scam tactic, and I would like to see how the company could explain this. I never received any sort of email about this service, never was notified that I was being charged, and never selected agree for this service. This company is incredibly sneaky and shady in how they charge you, and I think what they are doing is incredibly unethical.Business Response

After undertaking a review of the recurring charges on my credit card, I discovered that Stamps.com had been making unauthorized charged to my credit card for the last 16 months, totalling $318.04. I never requested or authorized a subscription service with this website. Tonight, I made three calls to their customer service line to request that the recurring charges be cancelled and refunded. During the first call, the representative assured me that she would refund the charges, but when I asked for her to verbally confirm the amount that would be refunded, she immediately hung up on me. When I called back, I briefly spoke to a different representative who also hung up as soon as I mentioned that I was seeking a refund for unauthorized charges. On my third and final attempt, I was able to speak with someone who behaved professionally. After repeating all the information that I had given the first representative, he confirmed that he would request a refund for the full amount ($318.04) and provided me with a reference number for my case, but said that it would take 4-6 weeks to process my case. After reading through the many of the other BBB complaints about Stamps.com, it seems clear that this website is engaging in a deceptive business practice, by misleading one-time stamp purchasers into unwittingly signing up to be indefinitely charged for a monthly subscription. There appear to be hundreds, if not thousands, of BBB complaints against Stamps.com regarding this. No doubt, there are countless others who have not yet realized that they are being charged monthly fees without their knowledge or consent. The BBB needs to take action against this website. It boggles my mind that they have an A+ rating.Business Response

I learned of a stamps.com promotion in July of 2020. I signed up for it because it was just what I needed to start shipping from home. This promotion started on 7/17/2020, good for ***************************************************************************************** off. Afterwards the monthly charge would be 17.99/month. I waited and waited and waited and waited for my promised package but nothing ever came. I've signed up for trials before and having never received anything in the mail whatsoever, like the others, I put stamps.com away in the farthest corner of my mind seeing that this was a horrible way to start off our business relationship. I never thought of them again... That is until July0102022. I was at the checkout counter attempting to pay for my groceries and my card was declined several times. I'd just received my monthly ssi deposit and already my money is gone. I stepped to the side and checked my ledger and lo and behold, stamps.com stuck their hands in my account and snatched $420.97 out for back fees since August of 2020. When I returned home, I called customer service and they told me that there was nothing they could do. To add insult to injury they kept my subscription active until the day they took the $420.97, then once my account was made current stamps.com took it upon themselves to close my account altogether. I was hung up on 2 times I called customer service, I asked to speak to someone in management over the representative, I was told there was no one I could speak with and to take it up with my bank. By this time I'd already missed the deadline to dispute the charge. The bank told me to speak again with stamps.com and see if they would be willing to reconsider. I did. Once again, there was no one there to take my plight seriously. I have absolutely nothing to show for my $420.97. Had I known there was an active service I would never have ignored it, all the while being charged. All I desire is a full refund.....Business Response

I fell for the stamps.com snail mail spam a few months ago and I signed up thinking it's a convenient way to print stamps from home. There was no indication I'd be charged 20 a month. I paid a few dollars to print some stamps. Several months later I notice a $20 monthly charge on my credit card statement. I now closed my account, but judging from other complaints here, I'm sure they'll never stop charging me.Of course when I closed my account they offered me a $0 monthly option. There was no such option anywhere on their website before I closed my account. Clearly it should be the default option, and we all know why it's not. Simply to scam people.BBB, please shut this business down! They're purely a scam. It's unconscionable that you give them an A+ rating, when they're clearly an F as a scam company!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The company's "answer" is a complete non-answer. Ie: "we hear you and we'll do nothing about it because our deceptive tactics make us money". That's unacceptable. I really hope BBB takes its role seriously and holds corporations accountable to not rip off consumers. Specifically stamps.com in this case.

Good Afternoon, I recently discovered that Stamps.com was charging my credit card a monthly fee of $20 since April, 2022. I am elderly and do not remember signing up for this account. I have not used this account to purchase stamps. I seldom use stamps and obviously do not check my credit card account closely. The ********************** website is difficult for me to use, even to close the account. I was charged for about 14 months, with no benefit to meBusiness Response

I ordered what I thought were **** postage stamps in December 2021 from the above company. Not only was their online website misleading, but I attempted multiple times to cancel their monthly subscription ever since. I originally paid $60.44 in December 2021 and did not receive stamps, but some contraption that issued stamps that was worthless without purchasing additional products from them. Even the company name implies that you will receive postage stamps. When I received my order, I requested a refund and it was issued. I also told them to cancel any subscription thereafter. However, they continued to bill me $17.99 thereafter. I called in May of 2022 and asked them a second time to cancel my subscription. They promised to do so, and issues credits of the monthly charges to date. However, the very next month the monthly subscriptions continued to charge my credit card $17.99. In March of 2023, I called a third time and requested that they cancel my subscription. They promised to do so and issued me a credit of only $50.00, even though I had already paid them $208.90 in monthly fees since the last credit. However, since then an additional $77.96 was charged to my account between 5/6/23 and 6/6/23. They have actually increased their monthly subscription to $19.99! After three requests to cancel my subscription, I have given up and am requesting you to intervene. I need you to request that they cease and desist charging my card and refund the $238.86 the owe me to date. I have NEVER received ANYTHING with the subscription.Another charge will likely take place on 7/6/23 which will increase the balance due to $258.85. I am taking the time to report this to you to try and prevent them from continuing to be likely ripping other customers off. I feel that they should be investigated and deserve a substantial fine for their fraudulent activity.Business Response

I was recently prompted by my bank to review all of my recurring charges and was very surprised to see I have been charged approximately $20/month by stamps.com for the past four years, resulting in fees of $961.61. The first transaction is from May 25, 2020. My assumption is that I created an account on ********************** at some point in the previous month to see if I would be interested in their service. I concluded that I was not interested and assumed that since I had not authorized any charges, that my relationship with them was done. I did not use their services even once to print stamps. I have only one email from them in February of **** indicating that I had any business at all with them and I assumed this was simply spam mail. There are hundreds of similar stories online indicating the shady business practices of this company and the lengths they go through to hide their charges when individuals create a log-in the first time. I would like a full refund for these service charges.Business Response
