I decided to try stamps.com on 12/16/21 to send out our holiday cards. Nowhere in the signup process did stamps.com explain that by making this purchase they would automatically sign you up for a subscription. I only received the welcome email, which also never explicitly states that you signed up for a subscription and will be charged $17.99 per month going forward. I didn't receive any additional emails from stamps.com until I cancelled my account after finding out they were charging my credit card without my knowledge or approval to do so. I didn't receive receipts from the monthly funds that they stole from my account. I tried to dispute the charges via customer service and through my credit card company, and stamps.com refused to give me my money back. Fast forward to today, I notice that even after cancelling my account, stamps.com is still charging my credit card. Come to find out, stamps.com also created an account for my husband when he made a single purchase on 4/8/22. I am fed up with this shady company and would not recommend stamps.com to my worst enemy. We have now been charged $376.59 by stamps.com without consent to do so.

    Dear ******,
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customers concerns very seriously.  Normally, a customer is responsible for all service fees.  However, rest assured that we have issued a courtesy refund totaling $376.59 on 2/20/23, broken down in the following manner: ****** for account **********, and ****** for account 10339038.  We show that your accounts are closed.
We show that Stamps.com accounts were fully activated on 12/16/2021 and 04/08/2022.  We show that Welcome Emails confirming activation had been sent to you on those days.  We hear your concerns and we always aim to fully disclose our fees before any account can be created.  We do not advertise or offer a free or pay-as-you-go service, and as disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which ended on your accounts on 01/14/2022 and 05/07/2022.  We show your accounts were closed on 11/14/2022 and 02/15/2023.
We allow all of our customers to evaluate our features without signing up for an account. We provide extensive FAQs and demos in order to answer any queries that a potential customer may have in regards to the ********************** service and software.  When you visit our website, you have the option of viewing various pages that offer more information and background on our postage printing product.  You do not have to register in order to receive information about Stamps.com.
To create any Stamps.com account, you must complete the multi-step registration process at www.stamps.com.
Registration requires you to enter your name, mailing address, phone number and credit card information, in addition to creating a username and password and selecting two security questions. Also, you must review and agree to our Terms and Conditions:

    www.stamps.com/conditions
To best serve our customers, we provide the terms for Stamps.com accounts during the registration process. Stamps.com accounts cannot be created without customers indicating that theyve read the terms and conditions. During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products.

In addition, immediately after sign-up, new customers are sent a Welcome Email with the same terms outlined, along with information about the monthly flat rate fee if you choose to continue past the trial month.
The fee we charge gives you access to services of the *********** and the license to print official U.S. postage. Its a flat fee that is not determined by how much postage you print.  Stamps.com is a vendor licensed by the ***** and all paid postage goes directly to the ***********. In order to offer our standard service, we do charge a monthly subscription fee.

We never charge people without their full agreement and awareness during our online registration process.  Our service fee is not based on usage or activity.  The monthly subscription service fee that Stamps.com charges is for access of the Stamps.com software, which allows customers to print postage from the comfort of their home or small office using just a PC and a printer.  Our service is a monthly subscription service so its not based on usage of the software, but rather on having access to using it.
We believe in full disclosure, and information about our fees is available on our website, interface, Terms, and FAQs.
During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products.  We believe the monthly fee provides a good value for customers who need to print not only just Priority and Priority Express Mail shipping labels, but also Shipping Labels for other classes (we support ****************** Mail, and Parcel Select Labels), NetStamps, and postage printed directly on envelopes.  We do have a wide variety of customers over a million customers- who enjoy the experience of not having to rely on expensive postage meters and who require more functionality and features than what other PC ******* services currently offer.

On our main page at www.stamps.com, we explain our fees under the section "Here's how it works..."  During the registration process we do make sure that our customers are aware of the monthly service fee in that we have it detailed on the webpage titled Why do you need my credit card information?

We do this so that customers can see the price before they complete the registration process. We also have the billing policy detailed in our Terms and Conditions at:

    www.stamps.com/conditions

Customers are required to review and agree to these Terms prior to completing registration.
In addition, potential customers can review and compare our pricing plans, as well as other important information, to determine which plan best meets their mailing needs via the Learn More section which is accessible from the Stamps.com home page.  We offer FAQs that answer questions about pricing, plans, and specific and general benefits of using Stamps.com:

We received a letter in the mail about a package send through Stamps.com that we had no idea about. The sender name was not us or anyone we know, and neither was the recipient of the package. As far as we knew, we didn't even have an account at Stamps.com. To make sure we hadn't been charged for this package, I checked our credit card statement and there was a charge for $18.17 in January! I kept looking back and found this charge had been on our statement for a year, since February 2022. Neither my husband nor I knew about this, so I called Stamps.com and discovered that there were accounts in each of our names with our email addresses, but mine was through ShipStation and not charging us any fees. I did know about that, so that was accurate. My husband, however, had no idea about his account. We don't even know if he opened it for a free trial or if someone else used his info. The security question asks for a tax id# and we don't even have one, so we wouldn't have used that question. I closed the account to avoid any more charges, but after asking my husband if he knew about it, I called Stamps.com again to question the charges and was told there was nothing I could do now because I'd already closed the account, even though it was minutes before! Meanwhile the mysterious package in the letter has been "escalated," and it seems like they don't know why that was on an account with my name and address. It scary to think that someone else has access to my account in a state I've never been to. But if it wasn't for that package, we would never have known we'd been charged for a whole year for a service we've NEVER used! It's shameful business practices.

$17.99 was charged on feb 13 without any email phone calls or mail that I signed up for a trial. I never even used the service and told the representative however she insisted its my fault for not reading the fine print and even if I never used the service she said it dosent matter cause you get charged either way. She refused a refund and closed the account. This is highly sketchy and illegal practices.

This is the second time the company charges my bank account. The first time was over a year ago when I called they claimed I did not have an account and suggested that I contact my bank to reimburse me, which they did. Today I woke up to a charge of $253.06 from this scam of a company. I am on the phone and they somehow do not have an account with my e-mail but when I gave them my debit card number they said they could pull the charge but not an account. This is ridiculous and frivolous. I have never even logged in or used their services.

We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customers concerns very seriously.  Normally, a customer is responsible for all service fees.  However, rest assured that we have issued a courtesy refund totaling $254.06 on 2/16/23. Upon research, we were able to find details for this account in one of our systems, and were able to refund the money to your payment method. We are still trying to find out why this account does not appear normally and are working to cancel it.
We apologize for the inconvenience and the alarm that the sudden charge caused you. Please rest assured that this is not expected or normal behavior, and that we are investigating the cause.

I have cancelled my account with stamps.com on several occasions yet I am still being charged a monthly fee with them. *** reached out multiple times with no response and am now at a loss. I used their free membership once over a year ago and have since been charged a monthly fee despite numerous cancellations. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Im disappointed at the loss of money from the non-cancellations.

I signed up for a Stamps.com account in May 2022 for the purpose of ordering what I thought were free **** supplies. There was zero indication that I was agreeing to monthly subscription charges of $18.80. I am an individual, not a business and have no reason whatsoever to pay a monthly subscription to a shipping service. I received no communication from Stamps.Com regarding monthly service charges. I realize that I should have been monitoring my credit card charges more closely and I should have noted the subscription immediately, but I failed to note the charges until just today as I was reviewing my statements from the past year. I have incurred $150.40 in fees for a service that I have not utilized and do not need.I contacted customer service at ********************** and they agreed to reimburse me one month of subscription fees but nothing else.I believe that the Stamps.Com registration is very misleading. It does not clearly indicate that the users are signing up for a service that incurs monthly fees. There are not monthly emails notifying users that they are being charged for the service. I feel that Stamps.Com is largely profiting from individuals such as myself who think they are purchasing a single label or one time supply of shipping materials without realizing that they are signing up for a very expensive monthly subscription. The representative agreed to refund one month ($18.80) of the $150.40 I have been charged but I would like a full refund of my fees. I also think that Stamps.Com should more clearly indicate that users are signing up for a monthly service and Stamps.Com should send users a monthly statement prior to the dates that users would be charged for the monthly fees. Thank you.

Yesterday I received an offer of free mailing stamps through Stamps.com. I signed up, not knowing that this was going to include a monthly fee of $17.99 just to be able to print stamps, and not knowing they were going to charge my credit card $1.00 just to sign up. Stamps.com will not recognize my username or password so I can access my account, and they do not answer their phone....constantly busy. They charged my credit card $1.00 and I was unaware of their $17.99 charge per month to be able to print my own stamps. I sent them an email to cancel my account, but the steps to cancel my account did not work. I believe they are a fraud.

    Dear *****,
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customers concerns very seriously.  In this case, we see that your account was cancelled within the trial period and so you were not charged anything. The $1 that you saw on your payment method is not a charge, but is a temporary authorization hold merely meant to establish that the payment method was active and able to accept charges should you have continued with the service. This hold will be removed from your card in a short period.
We show that a Stamps.com account was fully activated on 2/11/23.  We show that a Welcome Email confirming activation had been sent to you on that day.  We hear your concerns and we always aim to fully disclose our fees before any account can be created.  We do not advertise or offer a free or pay-as-you-go service, and as disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which would have ended on your account on 3/12/23.  We show your account was closed on 2/11/23. Stamps.com shown a charge for $53 and some change in my banking statement. However I never signed up or used them. I think many years ago I might have under a whole total different email account but never this email. All of a sudden there was a charge that Im notifying the bank about also. When I went to their website they had all my information, my number, address, new email account and the name of my business. I clicked to cancel my account. I seen they had me in some plan costing ***** per month. I never signed up for a plan or a free trial of any kind. We only purchase stamps through **** only. They scammed my business. Im not even sure what the monthly fee is for or how to even print stamps.

On March 19,2022, I bought $12.72 stamps from Stamps.com.Since April 14,2022, the Stamps.com has charged $17.99 on my credit card every month,a total of $179.90.Stamps.com never sent me any notice about this charge from email or writing.I never asked the Stamps.com for any service from April,2022 to now.My fault is I did not carefully check my credit card account until January,2023.I called Stamps.com on January 23rd,2023 and the agent kindly agreed to refund all $179.90 in 3-5 business days. On the same day I was glad to receive an email to confirm that Stamps.com is waiving your regular service fee for 10 months. However, I never received the $179.90 refund until now. I called Stamps.com twice. The agent said "I 'm not that person anymore", and only can refund you $17.99,at most $35.98.Stamps.com never notified me of the $17.99 charge every month. My credit card was charged by Stamp.com without my permission.I ask the Stamps.com must refund all my $179.90.

Stamps.com has assessed four charges of $17.99 each to my account. I did register for the trial period, but never consented to the monthly charge, and never used any of the stamps.com services or software. I was never notified of the trial period ending, and was never sent a monthly statement indicating that the charge has been made. I now know that stamps.com charges for "access to" (not use of!) their software, which by nature appears to be a predatory business tactic. The setup was never quite obvious during the registration process, and any following communication from stamps.com was completely absent. I would appreciate a refund.
