1 starI joined LA Fitness in 2010. I received a text message on 5/26/25 requesting that I needed to update my account. My monthly dues are on the 26th of every month . I logged into my account and updated my payment information. I was charged *****. I called the *********** location and was told that the additional fee was a late charge even though it was paid on the 26th. While speaking with them I was called a B**** by an unknown person in the background. This is totally unacceptable. I was told to come into the club which seems ridiculous considering they had my account in front of them stating what the monthly fee is along with the due date and the updated information. Being a holiday Monday I will be contacting the corporate office and lodging a formal complaint.Review fromKaren Y

2 starsI take a yoga class on Wednesday mornings at the *********, **************. The last two Wednesdays there has been no parking availability, and I had to turn around and go home. I sent a message through the LA Fitness contact portal a week ago asking if LA Fitness was in negotiations with ****** Furniture about using their parking lot, as our class was told a couple of months ago.Yesterday was a week since I had contacted LA Fitness, and I still had not gotten a response. So I made a phone call to the gym and was told there was no agreement with ****** Furniture, and the woman suggested that I park on the street or come at a different time. I reiterated to her that there is no parking on the street, and the yoga class is on Wednesday morning. So I cannot come a different time. Also the visibility mirror on the top level of the parking structure has been missing for about 3 months now. She said it was on the list of maintenance issues and the part had been ordered. All I kept hearing were the words "unfortunately" and "not at this time." It was just one excuse after another. A visibility mirror can be bought online. I checked. This is a safety hazard. The parking may be more difficult, but it sounded like no efforts were being made whatsoever to rectify the situation. The woman I spoke with did tell me that there was currently a management change and maybe perhaps hopefully the new management might do something. I asked her if the new management did come up with a solution how I would find out about that since there's no way for me to get in the gym because I cannot park my car. She said they would probably just put up flyers inside the gym or announce it on the PA, but they were not going to notify people by email. I have a gym membership that I cannot use. The next closest gym to my house is more than twice as far as the Hawthorne gym. I have been a member since 1986, and I expect better. Please let me know when and how these two situations have been resolved.Review fromMay B

1 starI joined LA fitness early in January of 2025 to get back to my fitness goals that had been post-poned since 2023 when I became disabled. As someone who is obese and was facing a few health issues as well as struggling with depression I was transparent with the sales *** when I told her I may not be able to commit long term due to fluctuations in mood and decision making. In response she signed me up to a month to month plan that was ideal for my needs. I come to discover near the end of January that a family member of mines that served in the US armed forces has terminal cancer. I was emotional and called in (admittedly a bit unhinged) to the *********** location and asked for a refund and to cancel my membership. I was told that I had to come in person in order to resolve the issue adding insult to an already upsetting situation. Unwittingly I drive to this location once again (having only used my gym membership 3 times) and I request for a refund and a full cancelation of services. I admit that I was not in the best state of mind at the time due to the extenuating circumstances, and my mental health struggles, but no one deserves to get the run around when faced with a love one passing away. The sales *** told me that she would not be able to assist and that I would have to wait for the Operations Manager. I left angrily assuming at least my account had been canceled. After the conversation the next day I flew over to assist in the hospice care of my relatives treatment. Fast forward to May I land back in ******* and notice a payment is being made by LA fitness to my account. I spoke to a *** called **** and he said because I called in I did not qualify for a refund ignoring the circumstances that had led me to canceling my account. I call back today and spoke to a much agreeable gentleman named **** and he agreed to refund from what I believe was February up until April. I received a noticed after the call stating that this was not the case. Help please.Review fromKelly B

1 starLA Fitness in Brick is just a slum. The manager ****** is so rude for no reason. The place is filthy. The pool has been closed for almost a month now and they do not update the app so I went there according to the class schedule and the pool was still closed. I paid for the month and am not able to use the pool . I understand but update the app and apologize to the patrons. The manager ****** would take no responsibility for the app being incorrect. I will not go back!Review fromLaura H

1 starThis gym is disgusting and so many of the machines are broken. The staff is rude and unhelpful. Despite recent 80 degree weather, they still do not have the ** turned out, and seemingly have no plans to turn it on (Ive asked multiple times). The warm air mixed with limited airflow, sweat, and body odor makes the gym smell disgusting. I am a young, healthy individual, and I feel lightheaded and ill after working out here. I cannot imagine how an elderly or less healthy individual must feel. Its dangerous and disgusting.Review fromPreet S

1 starThis is to inform you that my membership for personal training sessions has been ended since June 2024, at ***************************************, however, I was still being charged for all these time without informing us. I requested them to credit my money back to the credit cards that were charged, but they told us No. This is very disappointing & frustrating at the same time. They gave us their district managers numbers which we called & some of the numbers werent correct. Bad customer service , manager **** personal training manager was very rude. I hope other people fall in the trap of personal training contracts like we did.Review fromMontez M

1 starTo Whom It May Concern,Im writing to file a formal complaint regarding the way I was treated at your LA Fitness location in ******* (**********, **).On [06/19/25], I arrived at that location after my GPS mistakenly directed me there while I was searching for a Planet Fitness. I respectfully asked the front desk if I could use the restroom, explaining the situation clearly and politely.Instead of showing basic courtesy or understanding, the staff member immediately asked if I was a member. After I explained again, I was told flat-out no, I could not use the restroomsimply because I wasn't a member. The tone and attitude were dismissive and lacked any level of professionalism or customer respect. What could have been a chance to leave a positive impression on a potential new member turned into an example of poor customer service. Denying someone access to basic restroom facilities in a public-facing business is not only inconsiderate, it reflects badly on your brand. I was genuinely considering switching gyms, but this experience has made me reconsider *********** asking that this issue be addressed appropriately with the staff at that location, and that you reconsider your customer service practices. Id appreciate a response acknowledging this complaint.Review fromRichard R

1 starT Unfair Termination and Lack of Transparency at LA Fitness (Diamond Bar)I was recently terminated from my position at LA Fitness (Diamond Bar) for "performance" reasons, and I feel the process was handled unfairly. Despite multiple attempts to contact **************** I finally spoke with ******* after a long wait. While she was polite, her response was vague and left me feeling dismissed. What doesn't add up is that, if performance was truly the issue, why was the gym still visibly dirty at the start of my shifts? The facility operates from 5 AM to 11 PM with multiple staff members on duty, but I was seemingly singled out for cleanliness problems, with no other staff facing similar consequences.I took pride in my workdocumenting shifts with photos, purchasing cleaning supplies with my own money when inventory was low, and working hard to maintain a clean and welcoming environment. For my efforts to be disregarded without clear, evidence-based reasons is frustrating.Ive informed HR that I will wait one week for a response. If I dont receive a fair explanation, Ill consider legal action. This isn't about bitterness but about fairness and accountability. I deserve transparency, and I believe my termination was wrongful.Based on how this was handled, I would not work for LA Fitness again. While California is an "at-will" state, terminations should still follow consistent and non-discriminatory practices. "Performance" should be more than just a vague reasonit needs to be backed by concrete evidence.Ill provide an update after following up with HR next week. This review is part of my record, showing Ive made every reasonable attempt to get answers before pursuing legal options.Review fromAnthony M

1 starThey have people who forged your name into a contract. My dad who is 77 year old man signed up for LA Fitness back in February. He was offered a personal trainer and had a few sessions. He specifically told ******** that he couldnt afford a personal trainer. The next thing we realize, the gym charged him $165. He was charged the same amount on April and in May. He never signed a contract and asked a copy of this supposed contract. As we looked into the forms we saw someone signed the initials CA and authorized a 7-month plan of $165. My dads initials are JMC. I dont know what kind of people this establishment hires. This is truly sad. LA Fitness had the nerve to notify my dads bank of his cancelation back in February, but somehow my dad was charged $330? The whole place is filled with criminals and I hope it doesnt happen to anyone else. This is one shady business. I wouldnt recommend signing to this place.
