On May ******* I purchased solar panels fro Sunpower with a lease payment program. On the contract it stated I may transfer the lease to new owners purchasing my home. I submitted all paperwork on August 12, 2024. We have missed 3 closing extensions and are coming up on a 4th one on October 8, 2024. I need some assistance with this matter getting the transfer completed. The buyers mortgage company can not close until this transfer is completed because there is a lean on the property and the ownership of the solar panels are in Sunpower name. After 90+ days and begging for the transfer of the lease to the new home owner was completed. However, it has been resolved, it is just that it put four families lives on hold because the closing couldn't happen in a timely manner.

I sold my home and it closed on August 16, 2024. I have confirmation from the Home sale team at Sunpower of the documentation and they have cashed the final payment check and lease transfer payment filing fee sent directly from escrow. In addition, I made an overpayment of the last month’s lease payment for which I am doing a refund.
I received a September statement, where the overpayment was applied to that months bill, for which I am not responsible.
I keep getting notices that I am late on a payment by $7.50, which is not true and I just received a new statement for the month of October, which the account should no longer be in my name.
I have tried calling numerous occasions only to be hung up on by your answering system due to too much call volume. I have sent two messages via your service portal to which I have received no response. I have also sent two separate emails to your email address and receive an automatic response at a ticket has been created, but nothing else.
You have no issue mis-managing my account, and sending me numerous emails and text messages about a past due balance and upcoming bill however, you never actually communicate with the customer.
I need this issue resolved, my account closed as of 08/16/2024, and my refund check sent to me for $368.27.Initial Complaint

I have a 20 year lease with Sunpower corporation for solar panels on my roof, which began in 2012
December 2023 my Sunpower Solar energy panels ceased functioning
April 2024 I asked Sunpower, under their warranty to repair
August 2024 they sent a service worker who did not repair the broken inverter
I continued to email, call and request repair. Sunpower did not respond to my request
September 2024 Sunpower declared bankruptcy and informed customers they would not be servicing equipment.
September 2024 Sunpower is demanding I continue to pay my lease payment of $114 per month, despite their systme not producing since December 2023.
I would like to be reimbursed for my lease payment from December 2023, and I would like my system restored and functioing properly.Initial Complaint

I purchased my new home via KB Home ****** in the ************** and the home was preinstalled with SunPower Solar. On closing day we transferred the solar into our name and signed a leasing agreement, this was back in late June and I was told my credit app passed with no problems. But I haven't heard anything for a month. I reached out on August 8th and was told they were waiting for the financial provider to approve my lease. From there I haven't received any new information from SunPower and my solar panels are still inactive and not producing power for my home.Initial Complaint

On 8/27 we requested a lease buyout of our solar panels contract. We have not received the letter. We call daily, waiting on hold for ***** minutes with no resolution. We have sold our house but escrow is holding $100K for Title since the lien is still on title. We must resolve in 53 days now and we are vey nervous. The stress of this issue is overwhelming. From an annual Production Guarantee Report their system fell short on supplying enough energy I am due $603.40. They also have filed bankruptcy and Sunpower Financial has taken over. I cannot get through on their customer service number and cannot get through on line. ************Initial Complaint

We are home owners with an existing ********* Solar system on the home. We have been clients of ********* since 2012 and have been making monthly and on time payments for the solar lease since contract inception. We are currently in the pending sale / escrow of our home. The buyers of the property wish to assume responsibility for the lease. Per the terms of the solar lease agreement we are supposed to reach out to ********* at least 30 days prior to the intended close date of the transaction. Via numerous email tickets, multiple calls with on hold times exceeding 2 hours or more on average (which our escrow agent can attest to), we have FINALLY started the process. SunPower is currently in chapter 11 and their entity handling items on their behalf has been challenging to work with. Per our existing tickets with Launch ************** we have been informed to expect 60 days for completion of any contractual / responsibility reassignment. This is far in excess of the industry norm (by way of example Tesla solar is 1-2 weeks for completion). This extraordinarily lengthy reassignment has in turn caused the buyers to pay an additional month rent on their home, our family to pay an additional month of mortgage on the home to be sold while also paying our monthly mortgage on the new home. Additionally, a tremendous number of bills and credit card items are delayed for payment or payoff by this additional 30 days (assuming a traditional assignment is 30 days). Due to the lack of timely contractual assignment / customer service this has resulted in families being held in "captivity", necessity to delay contractors, extended payments for existing mortgage / rent, etc. We simply wish for ********************* to timely provide reassignment services. We provided approximately 25 days (with evidence) notice (albeit contractually 30 was requested), but with a 2 month anticipated time to process we have 2 homes held with inability to move forward with a home purchaseCustomer Answer

We are trying to buy a house and SunPower will not release the *** (essentially a lien on the title).We cannot close escrow because the new lender will not allow a loan to be issued without SunPower providing the proper paperwork.We submitted the Paperwork on August 2 and was told 30 to 60 days. We have heard nothing from SunPower.Since that time we have made literally dozens of phone calls, we have been told multiple truths untruths about timelines (The email will be there in two days for the credit check - not true, ever) and given the old fashioned runaround wasting easily 20 hours of our time.AND NOW OUR ESCROW DATE IS PASSED. We are over 60 days waiting for a simple transfer to take place.Our loan lock is expired and we had to pay almost $1000 to extend it.*************** has been TERRIBLE and they blame everything on SunPower stating that SunPOwer is the entity that has the ability to make this happen.Called SunPower multiple times the route calls back to *************** who blames them.We NEED the paperwork for the *** - please, whats happening is not right. This is for ************************************************** *** ******** and **** ******.
