On June 27, 2024 I made a one time purchase. 3 months later on September 27th I was billed for a 'subscription' that I did not approve or agree to. This subscription was not a line item on the receipt of the original purchase, nor was there any notification of the purchase or billing other than on a credit card statement. The package showed up out of the blue around October 21st. I've started a dispute with my credit card company as well as started a return through the Manscaped website. The fee may be small enough that some people may not complain and just cancel the subscription and move on. This situation feels like deceit at best, theft at worst. I'm 39 and this is my first BBB complaint. Had I checked the BBB before my purchase, I would have looked elsewhere to fulfill my needs. Looks to be a very common problem with Manscaped and I do wonder how many incidents go unreported.Business Response

This is one of the most deceptive and dishonest companies Ive ever purchased from. They auto-select a subscription model for everyone who purchases and starts auto-charging them every 3 months for a subscription. The fine print is small and they do their best to make it incredibly difficult to even know you signed up for anything. This practice is not legal in ******* - my warranty should not be reliant on a recurring payment, which was slipped under the radar while making an order. It is a sneaky practice and in 20 years of online purchases I have never experienced this. I have searched out and cancelled this so-called Peak Hygiene replenishment order (I have also still no idea what this is).

I ordered this product for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He used it 3 times before the item started turning on by itself to the point where it eventually would not turn on at all even after it was plugged up for hours to fully charge. I reached out to the company for a replacement, sent a video showing that the device would no longer turn on even when plugged in, and they advised that I was outside of my 90-day warranty period but I could sign up for a membership at $18.99/a month which would allow me to send the item back. Prior reviews have shown that their items are defective and that people are having problems canceling their membership so I dont feel comfortable signing up for a service when the first item that I ordered for them is defective after less than 5 uses. Im asking for a replacement, not my money back, but I do not feel like I should have to sign up for a membership and risk the possibility of having a hard time canceling when the item I initially ordered is defective.Business Response

I am unsatisfied with their response. The item is defective and will not turn on at all after only 3 uses. The business should have good faith to allow a replacement without me having to buy into a program to replace an item or requiring that I buy another Lawnmower 5.0 at a 20% discounted rate. The item is defective at no fault of the customer. I would not invest more money into a company when the only and original product that I ordered from them randomly turned on several times and now wont turn on at all even when plugged in for hours. The fact that theyre not allowing a replacement unless they get more money from the consumer displays that theyre not confident in their product which is disheartening.Business Response
