Inflection runs background checks for Airbnb. On two separate occasions they provided Airbnb with incorrect and erroneous background information. This information was used to cancel my Airbnb accounts and future bookings. This caused enormous disruption to m plans and significant inconvenience. I could understand Inflection making this mistake once. But a second time with the same information is unacceptable.Business Response

An inaccurate background check was sent to Airbnb. My record should have been expunged and Inflection still reported it to Airbnb. This was a minor crime that has been expunged from my record. Inflection also reported that this crime was committed twice, which is not true either. This caused me to lose my long-term rental I needed for a medical school rotation. Due to the increased demand and limited availability of Airbnb's in the area, there are no other rentals to book in the location I need for a similar price. I am devastated and am at a loss for what to do. I cannot afford $10,000 for a new rental.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, they got the background check wrong and the damage is already done. With that being said, they were prompt in fixing their error. I spent 24 hours of my life in a panic due to losing an Airbnb in a location where there were no other Airbnb's to book. I also am required to pay $500 more to rebook my Airbnb after my account being deactivated due to increased demand from the original time I booked it. I would not recommend this company for background checks, due to decreased accuracy in reporting. However, they did have good customer service in fixing their mistake.

Air BnB notified me of a negative inflection report. I called Inflection and requested a copy as per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. When I received the report it showed my name with a clear background check. However, it also included 40 misdemeanor and felony convictions for a person with an entirely different name and birthday. Even the most basic quality control would should that that persons record, whose name is not even close to mine, should not be on my report. This is not data entry errors. There is a fundamental flaw in the way this company does business.Business Response

Inflection sent Airbnb a report that doesnt belong to me therefore me a registered nurse of ****************************************** ********************** with shared bathrooms because my Airbnb was cancelled at last minute. I have been in ******* ******************************************************************** therefore Im certain after seeing other complaints that this fraudulent company hired by Airbnb needs to be switched because theyre not doing what theyre supposed to be doing but making a lot of people suffer. I have never been to ******* ** my entire life where a felony is listed to have been committed and tried in court. I do not have a middle name **************** have NO middle name. I have had several reservations booked for a few months with AirBnB until today when I received notice that all my reservations had been automatically canceled due to criminal charges in a background check performed by Inclusion. I do not have any criminal charges and the listed offender has a different middle name than me. The result is that all of my reservations for my vacation are now canceled without any remedy. I have disputed the charge with Inclusion but their automatic response says I may not get a response until June which will most likely be too late to rectify the situation. This is obviously going to cause a large financial burden for me and it is unlikely that I will be able to find the same level of accommodation at this late stage in booking. Unfortunately there is no way to contact Inclusion other than filing the dispute. I am in shock that a background check with obviously different names can be associated with a personal record and that there are no checks and balances in this organization to correct this.Business Response

For almost the past decade, I have been a continuous Super Host on Airbnb, with a clean criminal record. However, to my shock, I received an email this morning informing me that my account had been suspended and all my future bookings were cancelled and I was locked out of the platform. According to Airbnb, the suspension was based on a background check carried out by Inflection Risk Solutions, LLC. I cannot even communicate with the current guests staying in my units. Upon logging into their system (Inflection Risk Solutions, LLC.), I noticed that the details listed were not mine. The middle names were all different from mine. The most severe criminal listed did not share any of my names. The only possible similarity was our birthdate.To rectify the situation, I quickly uploaded my driver's license, social security card, passport, and even my US Global Entry card into their system. However, I am now left waiting in limbo, with no indication of if or when my account will be reinstated.It is truly disheartening to think that a company could make such an error, and I urgently request that this misinformation be removed from my record as soon as possible.Business Response

On April 6, 2023, I booked a stay for a family trip with AirBnB. I provided my state ID as requested. On April 7, 2023, I received two different emails from AirBnB stating my money has been refunded with a canceled trip and that my account was deactivated due to criminal charges on my background check. Then I received an email from Inflection Solutions stating the same thing and that I can dispute the finds. At this point I'm confused because I know I have no criminal record. I filed a dispute with Inflection Risk Solutions and let AirBnB know the information they received is inaccurate. Now at this point I'm upset, not at AirBnB but at the company that they decided to use that did an inaccurate background check on me. AirBnB either need to use another company that will do a better job on background checks or the company needs to train their staff better on accuracy when doing background checks.Business Response
