I just experienced a scam attempt similar to Matt D’s complaint. Yesterday 2 or 3 male reps were going door to door in my development. They knocked on my door but I didn’t answer. Today I was working from home when I received a knock on my door followed by a doorbell ringing. I thought it was my neighbor so I opened the door without checking who was there first. MY BAD!! This time it was a female rep from the same company Inspire. Her sales pitch was that she said that there were “certain transmission charges” on my Delmarva Power bill that she could get me a refund for because she is affiliated with Delmarva Power even though she was wearing an Inspire Energy polo shirt and reassured me that she was not trying to get me to switch over. She wanted to see my bill but I pretended that I misplaced it and need time to locate it. She said that she would be in the area until 8pm (which means she will probably stop back to make another attempt at her sales pitch to get me to sign up). I did not sign anything or let her look at my current energy bill. For the record, I have experienced similar scam attempts with other utilities such as cable (i.e. - reps showing up and trying to get you to switch from Verizon to Xfinity or vice versa).
Bottom line: Inspire Energy definitely is a scam and I’m sorry I opened my door without checking first. Do not do business with them.

      Dishonest sales tactics!
Sales person at BJs in Chambersburg PA looked at my utility bill and guaranteed at least a $100 reduction in my bill each month. However, when I received my bill this month, it was almost $200 higher than it usually was. The representative on the phone could not help me and put me in touch with a manager. They were willing to refund part of the overcharge, but were not willing to make this right. She said she would not send the partial refund of $75 unless I verbally agreed that the situation was resolved and agreed not to file a complaint.

They tell you that you can cancel anytime. But you have to call them it’s no way to see your account with them. Then I cancel my service and they charge me for the full month for eleven days.

Total scam! They had a representative at a local grocery store trying to sign up new customers to use their green energy. When we asked about the delta between our current provider and their service they said it would be minimal (10-20%). Unfortunately, I did not verify after the first month and our account was set up on auto pay. Turns out that they are 200-300% higher than the average provider in our area. Complete lie, do not use them.

Inspire energy outsourced their marketing to companies like alpha ascension. I worked here and found out how they scammed a lot of non English speaking customers out of their regular bills. The company policy strictly says to not sell to non English speaking customers, this was supposed to protect them from being put on a plan without knowing everything. Alpha ascension trained me to push for sales and try to coerce customers into these plans with overwhelming positivity and quick answers and rebuttals. I was partnered with ray, a standup guy at first. I didn’t understand what was wrong with his sales practices until it came down to a car ride back in which he joked about “raping” customers worse than other supplier companies have without them even knowing. This made me think and had me question my morals finally realizing the mlm I had accidentally gotten myself into. While he didn’t start the translation app encounters with non-English speakers he certainly got it down to his own rhythm. He would push hard for these sales the most and would some days be his only ones. These sales were made by making the regular generation charges seem like a big issue when in reality it never was. This caused concern because some strange people showing up at your door talking about your electricity bill is bound to make you question what might be wrong. This would then lead to the “problem” being hyperbolized and we would “fix” it right away for them, when in reality it was to then put them on our services. This would lead to the final part. The survey which is the final out of signing up for this service. We, I repeat, WE ARE NOT to be there for the survey, the manager encouraged us to stay behind and walk them through THEIR survey, this is usually the only chance for them to get out of this and we took that away from them forcing them to click yes for all the questions never no which would cancel the whole thing. The company is bad on its own, but the salesman are rodents.

If I could them a -100 I would. They are a complete fraud. Came to my home pretending to be sent on behalf of Duquesne Light stated I was accidentally charged a surcharge that they could remove and offered an alleged better rate(14) than Duquesne Light (9) which was actually as you see way higher than Duquesne Light nor were they sent on behalf of Duquesne Light. Practically impossible to cancel they are claiming it’s under investigation. Please shut the door on them

A sales person, Anton, knocked on my door today and stressed that his job is to make sure my source of energy is "100% clean". He was not being honest about being an alternative supplier and did not mention the new rate or anything about how my bill will be affected. I asked multiple times and he just danced around the "100% clean source" and wanted to see my bill and get the code on my bill so that he can switch me over with his tablet. When I told him that I was not going to give him that number, his face immediately changed and said "have a nice day", turned around and left. Yeah, do not come again since the intention was clear to deceive people with "clean energy" while not telling them the whole story. BTW, he didn't even see I have solar panels on my roof. This kind of deceiving sales tactic is going to damage your company's reputation beyond repair and you can see all these feedbacks online.

I don't know how they get or train their reps, but they need to do a refresher course. They are sending people out to private condo complexes and telling them to ignore "No trespassing/No solicitation" signs. Around 6 or 7PM yesterday, 3/28, someone came to my door claiming to be from both PPL and Inspire Energy. I know for a fact that PPL does not send people out door to door. Red flag #1. He claimed to be doing a survey, but wanted to see my electric bill. Reg flag #2. When I told him this was a private condo community and there were no soliciting signs posed, he ignored me and continued bothering my condo neighbors. Red flag #3. He had NO literature on him to give out and a neighbor told me she had felt pressured into signing on with Inspire. Give people a copy of a contract to look at for Pete's sake and give them time to think about it. Red flag #4. These people need to be shut down. There are elderly people in this community and Inspire is using predatory tactics on them.

The door to door salesman never mentioned his company, had a fake badge, and talked bad about other suppliers. Said our bill would be 3 times higher if we didn't switch to them. He switched our supplier to them without our permission, and luckily I received an email alert from AEP to let me know and gave me a chance to cancel it.

I was blatantly lied to! Told they were trying to change a error in peco billing and continued to lie when I asked if this would effect my CAP program. The salesman answered all my questions with a lie and misrepresented himself!!
