My mother is a senior citizen who is not good with technology. One of the few accounts that she has online is a Yahoo.ca email account. She accidentally locked herself out of her account. 4/22/2023 I switched phones and phone numbers.Yahoo would not let me change my phone number without paying for a premium service, $4 per month.They stated that I could change the phone number online, but online required me to verify my account with a phone and phone number that I no longer had or was active. In order to change my phone number I was required to pay for a monthly service.This is illegal.Business Response

Was notified that I needed to sign in to my email account, went to sign in and received an error message that there was suspicious activity in my account and needed to reset my password. Tried resetting my password by answering security questions and it says that my questions were incorrect (I know for a fact the questions were correct since Ive had to do this before). Ive since been locked out of my account with no way to sign back in and my only option seems to be calling a paid customer support line to get potentially get my email back! I am a small business owner who paid Yahoo which is now turbify for a website which keeps going down. Each time I called I get pit on good for over one hour then told a supervisor will call back which doesn't happen. The last person I spoke sai he added websites to my url so keep it from going down. But that is not my website so now when I give someone my url, if I dont add websites to it, it shows as a 404 error message. They told me that they cannot fix it and my contract is not up until November and they won't refund or give me any of my money back.My website uses webbuilded but my blog uses WordPress, so I made another website from my blog page and asked them to direct my .com address to the WordPress website and after spending 40 minutes on the phone, they still couldn't understand what I was asking and refused to get a supervisor to help. All I need is go have a working website with the url I paid for to give my clients to schedule their coaching sessions. Please help to facilitate a resolution here because I am losing money and they are not offering any resolutions.Business Response

My mother has an email account with ********************** ***************************************** My mother was placed in a dementia facility in November. She has late stage dementia which includes hallucinations and severe disorientation. I am her only child and have full ***** of ******** (which was mailed to Yahoo and is attached to this submission). I need access to my mothers email because she has bills that are sent to that email that need to be paid. Yahoo refuses to even problem solve with me about a way to access her email. They tell me that the owner of the account must ***** *********** But, as I said, my mom is not able to do this. I am able to provide any type of documentation needed to prove that I am not fraudulently trying to access her account. I have access to her bank account, credit cards, IRS taxes and health care but Yahoo wont ***** me access to her email. Not only that, they have been incredibly rude to me (even hanging up on me) when Ive tried to call their help number. Yahoos insensitivity and lack of policy for situations such as this is unacceptable. Is Yahoo willing to pay the late fees for these bills that cant be paid because they wont respond to my request? I can't remember my password; the company won't send me the code to my new number or over the chat session; they say that is only for premium members. About a decade ago I created a Yahoo account with the domain ymail.com; this account does not exist anymore due to inactivity. Many old accounts I had used this email and I wish to re-access them, however this is not possible since my email has been deleted, nor is it possible to re-register since Yahoo now does not allow new registrations with the ymail.com domain.I tried looking through Yahoo Help, which has been absolutely useless in addressing this problem, and their human customer support service requires a subscription which is not available in my country.Business Response

If your account has been deactivated due to inactivity. This happens when an account hasn't been accessed for a year or more. At this point, the mailbox has been deleted and the account can't be reactivated. Unfortunately, Yahoo does not allow email addresses to be re-created and the "ymail.com" domain is no longer in use.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory enough as I understand most employees at Yahoo hold no power over the company's policies regarding email creation. However, I would suggest to Yahoo that they consider bringing back older domains including ymail.com and rocketmail.com as numerous other people have similar issues to mine.

Have access to email on a device. Tried accessing on a new device, will not allow into email without a verification code which is not accessible. Password and username are known.
