I have reached out to Yahoo! several times via chat and phone over the past month attempting to reclaim an account I have not accessed in some time. I have the email and correct password, but Yahoo will give me the runaround and claim that, since I cannot provide additional verification (the account was created when I was a minor almost 20 years ago, there is no additional verification and the only corresponding email address is closed without the possibility of recovery) they have refused to ***** me my account back. I was also told I would need to pay for ******* services, only to be told they could not help me. I have let them know I need to re-access this account to update other accounts tied to it. Again, I do have the password but without "two factor authentication" (which cannot be provided due to the age of the account and the fact that I was eight when it was created) nothing would match. If you are able to assist with this, that would be wonderful. Please let me know if there is further information I can provide.Business Response

After reviewing the account, it has been inactive for some time. Because of this there is limited information with which to verify an owner.
The only way into this account is via the recovery email. If you do not have access to that email address there is nothing more we can do.
I am sorry for the trouble.

I am rejecting this response because:I am willing to provide proof if possible that the account was created by and for me, but I have already reached out to Hotmail and they are unable to recover my alternate email account. I already have the password and just ask that I am able to access my rightful Yahoo account without being charged or given the runaround. Again, since the account was created almost 20 years ago, things like a backup email and cell phone would not have been possible, but I have a handful of accounts linked to this one that I do need to resolve.
Sincerely,
*******************************Business Response

Before we can assist someone with a Yahoo account, we need to verify that they are the owner. To do this, we need to ask questions based on the information that appears on it. The information we normally look for is not present on the account that you're asking for help with, so we have no way to assist you.

I am locked out of my accounts and my saved password which has been working fine suddenly stopped working for no discernible reason as I have not changed it. The recovery method options state that they do not work as I am not using my most often used device. When I looked into how to log in I see that the customer support is a paid feature now and it seems suspicious that my password which has been working fine suddenly doesn't work and the only way to reset it is by paying money.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Representative was able to do nothing. Despite me remembering the phone number linked to the account, representative stated it proved nothing unless I had access to the number to receive a code. It is an old number that I no longer have access to, which is the only reason I have an issue in the first place. Next option was stating emails and subject lines of those emails. I can remember addresses that I sent emails to but what logic is there in memorizing subject lines on emails. It is not work related and number of random subject lines over emails sent are not likely to be memorized, which is the entire point of having an email account to have these communications in one place, as who is memorizing random emails and subject lines? This is absurd, I know my email, I know email addresses I sent emails to, I remember my old phone number, and the username is an obscure username which holds little meaning to anyone other than me. I was told that knowing the phone number proves nothing unless I have access to the phone number, how many people randomly have knowledge of what phone numbers are connected to specific emails?
I was contacted by the business only for the business to be able to state that they contacted me.
Sincerely,

I have Att/Yahoo email. I hit Upgrade waiting for a response and never got any confirmation or prices. I check my credit cards and find $35.00 for Yahoo Fantasy which is for sport nuts. I am a woman that loathes sports. Then I find $5.00 on 3/1. To top it off Att has my credit card in their account, because I Bill **** them in a town that is now gone due to incineration from ********** PG&E last date 11/2018. i was told by a Pilipino that I had a free period, that never happened. CHARGED immediately.I called Yahoo and told their customer service what happened and then my credit card company for a dispute. What happened Yahoo? Why was I not notified and sent a confirmation email and who put on the Fantasy? This is smelling like a scam/fraud. I have not heard from anyone and can only talk to *************** who answer your phones. They are useless. Using my credit card from ATT to me is illegal, because I never gave it to them when I hit Upgrade. There has been no communication/NOTHING, no email from Yahoo, like a contract. Now that card has to be eliminated after I get my refunds back.Business Response

About a year ago I noticed that Yahoo had taken over my search engine function, even though I never consented to this. It must have downloaded automatically from one of their websites, or was installed as ilicit adware from a non-related download. It took a while to learn how to uninstall it so that I could go back to ******* Today it happened again! Apparently Yahoo has some sort of scheme going on that hijacks ****** users away from ****** Search without any permission given to do this. I went into my settings and deleted Yahoo from my search engine and I am STILL stuck with yahoo as my default search engine! And to make the matter even worse is that their engine is not as good as ******s.Business Response

Yahoo purchased my original email service provider I believe was called Flashnet it became sbcglobal.net have had this email account over 20 years. Last December I had an issue with trying to log into my email account and was offered an alternate email address (hotmail) vs a cell phone for verification purposes. After more than 2 hours of wasted time trying to access my Yahoo account with numerous password resets and chatbots with no avail I tried an referenced phone number from their www.help.yahoo.com website. Turns out the ************ is for paid help. The web site now demands a cell number which I do not have and does not allow the alternate email but loops back to cell phone. I somehow ended up at ************ which redirected me to the **** number which is no help but bait and switchBusiness Response

I have an email that I can't gain access to. It's attached to an old phone number. Even though when it asks for the two digits to verify it's the correct number, b/c I don't have access to that phone, it's making me call premium support. I need this email to gather documents related to my business and tax returns. Premium support makes me send in a driver's license. I'm not sure why I need to trust an outsourced person at that, with my information. I have already been a victim of identity fraud in my life and this is ridiculous. I want access to my account, and I'm not sure why even knowing the old phone number attached to it isn't enough.Business Response

I am unable to access my primary yahoo email account and yahoo customer service does not provide any reason for the same. I have both correct username/password and the correct backup recovery method on file. However yahoo mail does not allow me to proceed forward always giving " Um we cannot login you in right now please try again later" I tried signin helper and got the same message although i have my backup recovery method up to date in case of lockout. I searched the problem online and see 1000's of complaints against yahoo for same issue so seems like there is something wrong with their systems and they . Request yahoo to look into my email id and fix issue asap so i can get back to my email using my user name , password and backup recovery mehtod on fileBusiness Response

So I have had an email with yahoo ***************************************** for about ************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Helper on their help page; but when i type in my account info and submit it, it doesnt allow me to reset the password.. it prompts for me to contact there customer service, while also providing me the phone number. There is only one phone number listed on there site for customer service, and its a paid premium customer support service so to get help and reset my accounts password there is not other way but for me to pay yahoo for them to reset my password. I am unable to reset it myself, as there reset tool for whatever reason doesnt work and will only prompt me to call them.. and they wont reset my password unless I pay for there support That is not okay.. I shouldnt have to pay yahoo just for them to reset my email password when I am more than capable of doing it myself.. but they wont allow me to do it myself and I am being forced to pay or I wont ever be able to log into my email ever again..Business Response
