On 12/17/2022, at approximately 8pm, I contacted (via phone) a yahoo!(?) telerepresentative/customer support, to request a deactivation of my yahoo email account (my email was hacked/compromised).
When the representative (she said her name is April) asked for my personal information, I asked her to verify her location. April refused my request other than to state she was in the Phillipines (she would not give a city, town, or province), nor would she give her manager's name, stating she wasn't allowed to divulge this information.
My complaints are:
1. While physical addresses are listed online, I am unable to locate a working Yahoo phone number for
assistance with my problem.
2. Yahoo's U. S. A. phone numbers are not readily available for American citizens; U. S. Customer service reps
are virtually impossible to reach.
3. My email remains compromised, and I have no avenue to SPEAK with a Yahoo customer support rep in the

I contacted yahoo because I believe the security on my email has been compromised. I have changed my password. I sent them a message and did not receive a response from them. Their 800 number states it is only for premium paid members, not those without a paid membership. I haven't gotten any resolution and still see signs that my email is being accessed by an unauthorized party.Business Response

On 12/14/2022 I was suddenly locked out of my yahoo email service. I did not change any passwords, the issue occurred suddenly. After following all prompts on yahoo mail's website to attempt to regain access I was put into an endless loop of attempting to reset a password. After multiple attempts I was no longer allowed any more tries and was directed to call a help line which was paid help only. After filing a review on the BBB website I noticed this seems to be common practice for yahoo now and would like the assistance of the BBB in getting yahoo to offer support to a very long time user.Business Response

I have had a Yahoo mail account for at least 20 years; lately they have been trying to steer me indirectly into paying for this service my making me jump hoops to get into my mail, now to the point that I cannot access my account, try back later... When I try to sign up online to pay their extortion fee, the link does not work. Just say the service is not free anymore, give me a chance to leave or pay and stop playing such infantile games. The attorney general needs to look into this practice. Yahoo, shame on you! No wonder everyone has switched to Google.Business Response

Yahoo email services has locked me out of my account.
I have never enabled two factor authentication, now when I log in (with the correct username and password) they lock me out of my account until I verify with a phone number, a phone number linked to the account over 8 years ago. I have the account also linked to another backup email address, but there is no option for this, the only way to solve this issue is to pay yahoo money for their "premium" support.

After attempting to log into a second computer unsuccessfully, Yahoo locked my account and is holding my emails hostage for 24-48 hours unless I pay for a subscription plan for customer support. I spoke with ************* who reports to********* in Romania who said he and his supervisor cannot help me unless I pay for customer support. Yahoo locked my account and is holding my emails hostage unless I pay them money. Their only other option is to follow the self help options in the hep center and the only option they give is to set up a brand new account which still doesn't restore access to my emails.Business Response

Yes my complaint is the same as the other complaints I've read just now, probably should have done that before I opened Yahoo but I never in my wildest dreams thought that Yahoo would have this many complaints and still be open at least and be allowed to do this.. I used Yahoo as my recovery for my Gmail and in order to get into my gmail they sent a link to my Yahoo..I have no access to the phone number that's linked to both accounts right now.. my phone broke and I have to get another one, so I'm currently using my EBT food stamp phone which is a different phone number.. My Gmail has everything!!!!! my tax information, pictures everything; I'm set up to lose everything that I've had for years!! No where does it say if you use Yahoo as a recovery when you call customer service you have to pay $12.99 in order for them to access your account and restore it if you cannot... I need some serious help that has everything in it my tax information for my stimulus that I haven't yet received pictures I mean it name it and it has it everything goes to that Gmail so I've got to get into this Yahoo email...!!! I need to be contacted immediately by a human person not by an automated system which is I've heard from the other responses the other complaints here!!Business Response

To whom this may concern: I am not the only one complaining about this. Many people are complaining about it as well. They have this feedback button that when you hit it, there's no feedback it's only suggestion how they can improve. There's no link for complaints. A lot of people are going through what I'm going through you can change your password you don't get any email change your password you got to go through heck to change your password you have to have a phone number. If you don't have a phone number linked to it you cannot get anything in return I was able then to change my password. I had the same problem with another company AOLAOL has my account in control. They refuse to send me the password. I will send you another complaint about this but someone needs to verified each and every person that is trying to change password something is going on behind these walls and spectrum has a lot to do with it. Spectrum be getting into peoples accounts someone's hast to do something about it. I've been complaining about this too, how many complaints must want to ******* have to get help better business isn't helping FTC is not helping stolen identity is going nowhere, so what is the person supposed to do if there's a lot of people committing suicide maybe I should address this on your shoulders because it seems that nobody's doing their jobs but harassing people how about abuse people get to w and leave the conversation for last businesses needs to be leaving their phones in their vehicles. I deleted a Yahoo! web e-mail account I created, "******************" in the year 2019. Someone revived this e-mail account or recreated it and conducted fraudulent activity to include receive, send and retrieve information associated with my personal credentials. I contacted the Yahoo! via online request to speak with agent to resolve this issue by permanently deleting the account. I did not receive an e-mail correspondence or a telephone call back to resolve this issue. I also contacted Yahoo! corporate office to speak with someone to resolve this issue and also have not received a call back. I was made aware this e-mail is currently in use by a banker September 2022, who states email has been sent to this address, ******************.

I need to change the recovery email on my yahoo account, but cannot without being charged a premium service charge.
