On 08/19/2022 I reached out to Wakefield and associates regarding to two collections that was posted to my credit under their company. One collection was for ***** and the other was posted for ******. I spoke with a representative that stated they saw two collections and the total of both combined was ******. I then told her what was on my credit report and she stated that they did not have that in their system (the collection of *****) but it still shows as owed on my credit report .Business Response

In our FACS system we have an account listed with a total balance of $2,600.00. Wakefield and Associates have recently started to damage my credit report by placing medical debt that is over 5 years old on it. I have not received treatment from the providers in ten years. I thought medical debt had a window of seven years. I thought the ***** Administration changed it to 5 years.Business Response

I don't have to provide this random person with my insurance information. I responded to their mail and submitted this complaint and they haven't provided any information as to the original originator of the debt. I have no idea what this company is trying to collect money for. The only thing I can think of that they might be trying to collect for based on the date mentioned is, ambulance charges in excess of what the VA or ******** authorized as payment in full. The statements I have received fro the VA show those bills were paid in full.Please tell them to quit pestering me. I don't owe them anything.Customer Answer

For about two years I have been paying off some hospital and doctor ***** that were being handled by Wakefield. One day I get a notice from Wakefield that *************************** was being substituted for *************************** as the attorney of record for the Plaintiff. I thought we were all good and I just kept making my payments but then I started getting these weird phone calls that I was probably getting tired of all these collection calls. The thing is I wasnt getting any calls except for that person who never identified himself, and never identified what he was calling about. So I decided to look up the attorney who was being substituted and I find out that these guys buy up old collections and try to get people to admit they owe money on these accounts. I also find out that what they are doing is pretty shady and some people think of them as shisters, but Im now getting other correspondents that they have settled accounts for other companies. The problem is they have never identified themselves or any specific accounts that they represent, but I do start getting calls from Wakefield to call them. As far as I know I dont owe anyone any past due ***** except the ones Im paying on. I would like this to stop or if they have anything legal to at least give me their names and what clients they represent. I do have the original letters they sent but there is no conclusive evidence of what they represent except they are giving me a deal.Business Response

This complain is due to the negative marks made by your company on my credit file. I would be willing to accept this debt if it were mine and upon Validation and Proof of Claim but its not mine and theres no way that you can validate it. Also, you must provide me proof that they have my consent to report my medical information in accordance with HIPPA laws. So let it be known that I am requesting full validation of this debt. I demand that you take action to this matter because it is causing me a lot of stress lately. Please remove this negative account in my credit report. I am rejecting this response because:After reviewing the information you sent me, I must inform you that you have failed to validate this debt. Your office hasnt sent any portion of what appears to be acceptable documentation so you have not yet provided sufficient evidence, per the ***** and as required, that this alleged debt is accurate and mine.
You DID NOT SEND the following information I needed:
1.Complete payment history, including but not limited to, verification by line item (with an explanation of each item) for the entire amount, dates of execution, as well as last date of activity. This requirement was established by *************************** USCA-02-C-0072
2.Proof of my identity
3.Proof that Wakefield & Associates owns this debt or the Contract giving you power to collect
4.Proof that this debt has not been written off as a tax liability
5.In addition, I've recently learned that you're required to send me notification of this debt and your plans to report it to the credit bureaus prior to doing so. YOU NEVER DID THAT! And if you think you did, then you must also send me proof that you did.
As you can see, your company has clearly failed to send the legally required validation of this debt. So I would suggest you go ahead and remove this account from my credit file right away.

It is showing on my credit report that I owe this company more than $8,000 in which I have never done business with this company nor have I ever signed any contracts with this company. I have tried getting them to send me proof of said accounts in which they have not done and will not do.
