I started a student loan application with the expectation that their fixed rate would be 4.75% based on their communication, my FICO score is +740, and my income is +$70k. However, after finishing all the applications, the fixed rate interest was 12.5%. I will not take a loan with such high interest. I am not dumb! I'd rather slow my graduation for extra 1 or 2 years, but never put myself under such debt with such interest for 10 years!

Don’t take out any student loans. SallieMae will or help you when you’re going through a financial situation. They won’t budge, they coldly say” we don’t have any offers at this time, good bye. Parents I’d advise you not to take out any student loans from SallieMae, because you will regret it. Stick to the state banks or banking institutions that’ll have your best interest at heart. SallieMae won’t help, inconsiderate, no empathy and and doesn’t care about their consumers. They just want their money back. Don’t even think about filing for bankruptcy because it won’t work with them. With just that, it says a lot about them. SallieMae doesn’t care if you aren’t working, SallieMae doesn’t care of the co-signer has been sick and is on disability, they don’t care. They want their money.

I had an approved loan with Sallie Mae, and due to the way my school places students, it was many months before the school was ready to certify the loan. I called into Sallie Mae on 6/21 confirming that my loan offer was still active until 7/15. They assured me several times that it was active until 7/15 and wouldn't cancel out until after that date. My school then went to certify the loan and was told that it was cancelled. I then called into Sallie Mae again and it turns out it was cancelled the VERY DAY I last called to check on it. Despite my efforts, they told me there was nothing they can do. Despite their promises, the loan was cancelled early and without any notification. I now have lost what was a really solid interest late I had locked in, and now it is 3 times the amount. Coincidence? I think I will save the headache and go with another loan provider.

Sallie Mae Should be charged with harassment
      Also invasion of privacy
      They have called relatives
Cell phone numbers and a land line
For something that didn’t concern any
      Of these relatives!

I had to face wrath and scolding for a private matter that was
between me and the person I Co-signed for!
It was none of these peoples business it was
      A private transaction
      I also declared previously reported
bankruptcy and am supposed to be taken
Off this loan the loan is up to date
      And being paid as required!

The fees and interest rates on this loan r
Outrageous and a student will be in
Debt for more years and the interest keeps
      Accruing!
I want my name off the loan
And all the phone call even to her stopped
Along with the money they waste that
We r paying them for overnight
      Mailings!
That’s why there Rates r so high!

It’s Harassment and Invasion of privacy!
Because of Covid and during it was even worse!

Sallie Mae should be charged with harassment. They constantly call the co-signers that are on the loans when payment is a day late or even if there is a payment scheduled. My co-signer is over 80 yrs old and retired and doesn't need to be bothered with harassment. I have private student loans with them and am expected to pay an unreasonable amount each month. I have to pay rent, bills, car payments, need to buy food, gas, need to live, etc. and am expected to pay $600-$700 a month to sallie mae. What they ask for in re-payment is more than a car payment. Plus the interest on my loans just went up because they changed banks. Not my problem. They say they offer assistance with paying the loans, but that's not true. They really don't have any options unless you have faulted for 90+ days. They don't have any reasonable options. They only want to help when you default on the loans and hurt your credit. They don't care about assisting people in getting an education they just want to screw you in the end and get money. Loan payback should be based on what a person can afford. They need to be stopped in being able to give out loans and be shutdown. There are so many people out there with the same or similar problem and they don't care. If they were really willing to help I wouldn't get told well that's policy. Was also told that the harassing calls to my elderly father would stop, but they haven't.

Long story short they give you an appealing interest rate, but while you’re in school, they pretty much give you an all interest loan. While you were in school, you pay the minimum, which does not contribute to your principal at all. After I blooped out of school I paid the minimum. Which was all interest. Four years later I am just not paying towards my principal. My loan was $5k and I’ve given them $5.4k and not one penny towards my principal. In fact, my principal has gone UP. They cannot explain to me why this is happening. They kept saying the interest rate was high during school (which I only went to school for 8 months lol) so they pretty much skyrocketed my loan for 4 years (when they thought I was in school). If I could sue them I would. They took advantage of me and DOUBLED their profit. That’s disgusting and awful. Somehow this is legal but mortally wrong.

Harassing me to pay back my loans already and the payments aren’t due for another two months. I’m still in school but they will not defer the loan any longer. Terrible company. Rude customer service, they don’t care about you and won’t help. You should not have to pay loans back while you are still in school. Go with title iv funding because this is not it. Biggest regret of grad school was getting this loan. And by harassment I mean calling my phone, sending me letters in the mail and multiple emails a week. The payment is not even due.

One star because you cannot give them zero as that is not an option. Don’t get it twisted BBB, an A+ rating IS NOT POSSIBLE when the consumer rating is a 1. Get real and start actually doing YOUR job and help us.

This company consistently harasses me and my son and loses paper work that he complete to defer his payments while he finishes school. You speak with a different representative every time you call and they do not follow through with what is discussed over the phone. Then you have to take your time reiterating the conversation to yet a new representative who gives you conflicting information than the previous representative. They have made us fill out financial aide during a summer which takes hours and then tells you there is nothing they can do to help. They are unprofessional and the process of working with them is exhausting. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
