I rented a vehicle from Sixt Rent A Car from April 23 thru April 25, 2025 at the Reagan National Airport. The facility has a series of cameras that photograph the vehicle as it leaves the facility, as well as cameras that photograph the vehicle when it returns to facility. Approximately one week after my rental was concluded I received an email stating that $757 worth of damage had been done to the vehicle. scratch on the front bump, which we did not do. They want money to replace the whole bumper. I was provided a link to pay for the damage. I contacted the facility manager and asked for an explanation, as well as explaining that if she could provide photographic evidence of the damage I would happy to pay it. The picture they sent was not even the car we rented.

We have rented cars from several other rental companies with absolutely no issues, and had the same experience with **** UNTIL the day after we returned the car when they emailed us two separate emails claiming that we incurred damage to the vehicle in three different places. We were fortunate enough to foresee issues with Sixt through previous customer reviews online to cover ourselves before we left their lot with the car to begin with by sending them pictures of previous damage, as well as creating a video for future reference if needed. And YES that video came in handy because even though we couldn't send it to Sixt because of its size, we were able to take snapshots of various portions of the video to submit for proof that we did not incur the damages they claim we did. After receiving the emails claiming we damaged the car, we did research to see how often Sixt has made false claims towards others and the results were shocking! Looks like the only way **** is able to keep their prices so low is to file FALSE CLAIMS on naive and unprepared customers in order to take advantage of them and consequently STEAL MONEY from them after they return their vehicles. SHAME ON YOU SIXT! *IF YOU DECIDE TO SAVE MONEY TO RENT FROM SIXT*1) Take the time to CAREFULLY inspect the vehicle before you drive it off the lot.2) Take MANY detailed PICS of any scuff, scratch, dent, or ANYTHING that doesn't look right and be sure to save them on you phone.3) Record a VIDEO of the vehicle IN DETAIL all the way around, on top of, inside, as well as around the edges inside and out of the doors 3) Before your 1 hour limit, be sure to send any pics and video you can to Sixt from their parking lot before you move it.4) DETAILS MATTER!Even though we sent pics to them of previous damage before we left the lot and before their 1 hour limit, they STILL claim that WE did it. Be sure your pictures and video capture the background to help prove that the damage was there before you left.

Don't rent from this company. They are running a scam in which they claim you have caused a 10 cm scuff on the car and demand payment of just under $500 to avoid involving your insurance company. If you do rent from them, take photos of every inch of the car!

I recently rented a car at ********************** and dropped it off at *************. Upon dropping off the car, I was told by the attendant that all was fine and he even wished me a good flight. I can absolutely confirm that the car sustained no damage during my car rental period. A few days passed and I received an an email with a report from the claims department stating that I had damaged the car. There were fuzzy photos enclosed with the report. I have contacted SIXT and I am unable to get through to the ***************** nor to the ***************************** Never in all of my years of renting cars have I experienced such shocking treatment and a clear violation of my trust. I am now well aware of the current SIXT scam and I kindly appeal to the BBB to assist me in resolving this as soon as possible.

These guys are an absolute scam. I'm on my honeymoon. Rented a car from ************* and drove to ****** Tree. On the highway at random, noone close, didn't hit anything, I drive for a living, I heard a pop sound and a car that was catching up waved me down and was pointing at the rear. I stopped and found that the bumper folded in half. I have a custom built car, im a car guy. I look at it and see that all the plastic clips are broke. Looks like they just popped it back on and sent it out the door. The wind in the desert is harder so I assume it hit the side of the car and pulled the cheap fix apart. Called numerous time over multiple days. All they tell me is that I need to pay a tow truck to deliver a new one or bring it to a shop where id have to pay for it or drive 3hrs and drop it off at the nearest branch. The very last guy I talked to said "100% we'll reimburse you" and I said id like an email confirmation and he LITERALLY hung up on me as soon as I asked that. This place is an absolute scam and im so upset I didn't read these complaints before I rented. *** my name is Storm ***** at ***** 93 Storm @ ******* if you want me to personally talk to you about how bad this place is. Im now stuck in the desert with a questionably legal vehicle that they're trying to make me fix. I'll get a bicycle before I use them again... also soooo rude at customer service.

Saying the will either call text or send a email with their findings..what??

We rented a car at the Sixt location at the Salt Lake City Airport for 2 days to attend our niece's wedding. We forgot to take the pictures and submit them before we left, because we aren't accustomed to doing that ourselves. We wish we had! We attended my niece's wedding. After we returned the car, Sixt sent us a grainy picture that was supposed to represent damage they claimed we had done to the car. They accused us of having left "gouges down to the primer." They charged us about $1600 with about $500 in administrative fees. We have filed a claim with the insurance, but we are extremely angry because we did NOTHING that would have harmed this car. We will no longer be using Sixt. We will be going back to legacy companies like Enterprise and Hertz, because even though they are more expensive at the outset, we can no longer trust Sixt

This place is a scam! Do not rent from them. They are not a honest company. If you don't insure the car when you rent from them, they will claim you damaged their vehicle. They're claiming a 5-10 cm. scratch that wasn't done by me costs $1,148.24. They're a rip off. They sent me pictures of all the damages to the vehicle at pick up. Less than 10 minutes, the pictures were no longer available. Then once I dropped the car off and made it to my gate in the airport, I received an email with pictures of a scratch that was in the previous pictures at pickup. Those pictures are no longer available either. **** AT ITS BEST! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! IM GOING TO FIGHT THIS ALL THE WAY TO COURT IF NEED BE!!!!
