1 starThis company is the most unprofessional business I have ever worked with! We were on vacation and the rental car got towed due to a mistake on parking not intentional at all! They decided that we had to leave the car there and they wanted us to pay for the towing and renting the car for more days ! Said they would not give us authorization to pick the car up from the towing company! I will never rent from this company again!Review fromKazimierz M

1 starIn June, I had a reservation to rent a car with Sixt at **************. When I went to pick up the car, I was told I would not be able to drive it to *******, which was the ultimate destination of our trip. Since we could not take the car to *******, this reservation was useless to me, even though it had already been paid. Romania has been an ** member since 2007, so this refusal didnt make sense. I have rented many cars from **** in ****** and *******, and this has never been an issue.Although no services were rendered since the car was never picked up, I was charged the full rental price for a service I never received. I was forced to pay again to rent a car from another company. In addition, the unfriendly customer service refused to provide a refund for this rental or a discount for future rentals. I will never use Sixt for any future business or leisure car rental. If you don't like to pay twice for the same car rental service, avoid a company like ****. Its rental policies are convoluted, and its customer service is unfriendly.Review fromJosh K

We rented a vehicle for our stay in disneyland. We drove it to our hotel and then parked it until we had to drive back to the airport. We are 1000% certain there was no damage done to the vehicle but we got an email saying there was damage. After talking to the customer service rep (who was incredibly rude) and telling them I would be hiring a lawyer considering these false claims they said they would drop the claim. I am certai. This company files false damage claims to collect insurance money. Would absolutely never rent from them again and their insurance claims should be investigated for *****.Review fromashley d

1 starI rented a Standard Elite SUV which said it seats 7 seats and can carry 4 bags. My family of 6 with 3 of them under 8 could not comfortably fit in this vehicle with only a stroller. Definitely not accurate advertising. Then, after returning the vehicle spotless and with more gas than we were given to start, I receive a damage claim for 2 scratches I had not seen the entire rental. They now want $645. The agent on the lot cleared the vehicle and told me I could go. It should be illegal for companies to not report damage while you are still there to verify. Now it's my word against theirs.0 StarsReview fromSteve h

1 starOn March 2nd, took a vacation to *******. Arrived in *************** and picked up our rental car at Sixt. Everything seems good with the app as far as selecting the vehicle to have it ready when we arrived. Once we arrived, went inside and gave our info to the lady at the counter. Then followed her outside where she retrieved the key and handed it to me and pointed to the vehicle and said that's your car. I asked her "are we doing a walk around?" She replied "NO, Your good to go. Everything has been done. We went to the vehicle and walk in it anyway and noticed scratch on several rims and a small dent on the driver side fender, But she said everything was done so thought it was okay. Drove to our hotel in ************** and notice now we had an email with receipt and a walk around checklist, tried to take a picture of the dent but the app said time has expired. Still thinking, everything is okay to the counter person, so figured all the damaged we saw was already noticed by sixt. When we returned the vehicle on the 7th, the man checking it in asked me about the dent I replied It was there when we picked the vehicle up. He didn't say anything else and had me signed the tablet to finalize the rental. The day after we returned home, I get an email asking us once again about the dent. Once again, I explained this was already there. The next day they sent a bill $1,715.55 for damaged we never caused. We then started researching about the company and noticed trust pilot had ***** 1 star negative reviews, yelp had 435 1 star negative reviews and the 858 complaints all within the last year and 90% of these were similar instances where people complaining about damaged that they did not ******** guess is this is Sixt's common business practice. I would be curious to see how many times this particular dent has been charged to different renters. This many negative reviews all similar can't be a coincidence.Review fromTrina A

1 starSixt Rental *********** in *******, ** (airport location) is trifling and VERY dishonest! I rented a car online and paid the full amount. All I was supposed to do is pick up the keys at the airport and go. When I arrived at the airport, the customer service *** told me that the ********************** car would not hold 3 large suitcases and that I needed something bigger. After going back and forth with him, I ended up rental a midsize SUV (which I originally rented but a different model car). I ended up spending $110 extra to get the same car. When I got home that night, I went on the internet and did a size comparison with the I originally car I rented vs. the car THEY convinced me to rent and they were the exact same size. When I returned the car, I asked to speak with a manager and they said there was not a manager on duty. So when I got home the next day, I received a survey about my rental car experience. I completed the survey to let them know about my dissatisfaction with the representative lying to me in order to get more money out of me. The next day, ***** ******, the Branch Manager called me and I told her everything that happened. She apologized and said she would refund the difference that i was charged which was $110. She said I should receive the credit on my card in a few days. I have not received ANYTHNG!!! I have called her several times by phone and email. She has ignored me and almost 3 months later, I still have not received my $110. This company is ghetto and horrible. I've contacted customer service several times and they will not do anything. They keep referring me to email her.Review fromJoseph S

1 starMy wife and I took a trip from *********, **** to Ft. **********. ******* to visit family. We rented a car from Sixt Car Rental at ***, in Ft. **********. There was no vehicle inspection for condition conducted in our presence and with our involvement prior to our driving it off of the lot, as is typical of every other car rental company I have done business with. Therefore I thought they knew about the preexisting damage on the car. Upon returning the rental car after our 4 day visit on 2/20/2025, there was again no inspection conducted in our presence, and the agent said all was good, we could go. About a week later, we received an E-mail from SIXT that we were allegedly responsible for damage to the vehicle, a scratch and graffiti on the passenger side. They are demanding that we pay $699 for the damage! We responded that we were not responsible for this damage. There was NO accident, incident or event during our possession of the vehicle that could have caused any damage. Our position is that this damage was pre-existing or may have occurred after we had returned the vehicle. There is no way for us to know because we had no opportunity to witness an inspection of the vehicle prior to driving it away, which would have identified any pre-existing damage and would have established a vehicle condition baseline that we sign off on. Because this was not done, a claim of damage that we were allegedly responsible for is an empty assumption and should be withdrawn. We believe this is a false claim by Sixt.Review fromJordan B

1 starI always loved Sixt and recommended them to others, but recently I believe that I am victim to a fraudulent claim about damage done to the car I rented from them. I drove the car very, very minimally and only in the ******* suburbs. We never had any accidents or were in any tight parking lots. I returned the car and the agent when I returned it said nothing after looking at the car. I signed whatever they asked me to sign. Then, I get an email saying these things were done to the car (none of which I observed):Door, front Driver side Dent > 3 cm (with paint damage)Aluminium rim front Passenger side scratch 5-10 cm (down to primer)And also, they will charge us $1700 for these items. I would have doubted myself and thought that maybe we did do these things...even though I didn't notice EITHER at all, but then my husband (who also rented from Sixt) got a claim on his car that he also damaged it. Like me, he didn't have this experience at all and didn't see any damage on the vehicle or have any agent point out damage to him. I think it's because we don't get the ************** and were targeted. I cannot come up with another reason. But it appears to be fraudulent, especially since we both experienced the same thing of not having one agent mention anything about this during our return and then receiving an email with a huge price tag weeks later.Review fromJosh C

1 starAbsolutely horrible experience. First of all, I brought my 4 month old baby with me. The lady who installed the car seat we purchased from them did a horrible job leaving the seat very loose and wobbly. This could have been extremely dangerous and my wife was forced to sit back with our baby to make sure nothing bad happened. Also the car wreaked of cigarette smoke even though we requested non smoking. My wife has issues with her lungs so she was coughing the entire time. And the icing on the cake, when I returned the car they tried to claim there was a scratch we caused which is absolute BS because we barely drove the car(due to safety issues) and not once did it come close to hitting or touching anything. Since then I've tried to reach out, multiple emails, calls(all on record). I even had a lawyer reach out and they dont respond. All I get is emails from them asking for payment for the car damage. Extremely unprofessional and dangerous. If you are looking for a safe rental company, especially if you have kids I highly suggest you dont even consider these guys. Horrible.
