I received a charge for $51.93 from GolfNow.com on one of my credit cards at 9:05 AM Jan 19 2025. This is impossible, because I dont golf and likely never will. Upon calling GolfNow customer service I spent half an hour navigating through the useless AI answering machine before finally being able to speak to someone, who tried telling me there couldnt be a charge on my card because my card wasnt in their system.

I was double-charged by golfnow.com; i tried to book an online tee time for 12/22/2024 but the website said my 1st choice was not available. I selected a second tee time of which the process successfully completed. I was shocked when I received (2) emails confirming both tee times: the erroneous time 9:50am time shows no payment details, the 10:40am tee time does, but and my credit card was still charged for both tee times. I called the course, but they said it was up to golfnow.com to correct. I did contact golfnow.com and was issued a case# ******** but one month later after several follow-up chats I still have not received my refund for the erroneous charge which golfnow.com has admitted is on their end and was escalated but still no action taken towards resolution.

Thank you for bringing case #******** to our attention.

The consumer did not book through GolfNow, they booked through the course. However, everything else provided is accurate. The course approed the refund for the double booking error, but there was an issue in the system preventing the refund from being processed. This is the cause of the delays. The matter was escalated and, as of 1/19,2025, we found we have resolved the issue. The consumer was fully refunded for one of the two bookings. Please allow the refund 3-7 business days to reflect on their financial statement.

During a Black Friday online sale I purchased a ********* Membership. The terms of the deal included a year of waived tee time fees. The exact wording is as follows: fOR A LIMITED TIME GET $20 OFF A MEMEBERHIP WHICH INCLUDES A FULL YEAR OF WAIVED FEES. (see the attached screenshot). Today I booked a tee time which Golf Now charged me $6.98 for a booking fee, which of course according to their deal was to be waived for a year. I called customer support about this and the agent asked that I send the screen shot to them, which I did. About an hour later I get a call back from the agent telling me that I only get 10 waived fees, and that I am not reading the wording correctly. There is only one way to read it "FULL YEAR OF WAIVED FEES).

Thank you for bringing case number #******** to our attention.

A full year of waived fees does not mean unlimited waived fees. In a year period, the ********* membership allows ten waived booking fees. The screenshot was not offering unlimited waived fees, but informing that the discounted rate of the normally $99.00 membership would not diminish any of the provided benefits. Unlimited waived booking fees is a perk that is exclusive to our VIP members, which is a grandfathered program that is not offered to new users. Only golfers who already possess said membership have access.

As an alternative, we recommend booking via our sister site, **********. While bookings and deals are similar, the site does not charge booking fees but still permits use of GolfPass benefits.

I am rejecting this response because: The offer clearly states that, and I will quote, "For a limited time get $20 off a membership that includes a full year of waived fees".  This could not be more clear.  I would of not purchased this membership had it not been for the full year of waived fees.  Since Golf Now is unwilling to back up their offer, which I have in writing I want my membership fee refunded to me, which was $84.53 (includes tax) and the booking fee, $6.98, which was charged for my my tee time at Fairwinds Golf course upcoming on January 26th.  If Golf Now is unwilling to honor their offer, or give my stated refund then I will file a complaint with the ***************** of the *********************************  As this is a "breach of contract".

I got an email from Golf Now today that they are going to refund my money for the Golf Pass+ Black Friday Deal that they will not honor. I got this refund by disputing the membership price with my bank credit card. So as far as I am concerned this case can be closed. I have never heard of a big company like Golf Now not honoring a special offer like this. Thanks BBB for your help.

In spite of being out of the parameters for a refund, the consumer has had their pass canceled and fully refunded on 1/23. Refunds can take up to 3-7 business days to reflect on accounts. This does not yield a refund for the transaction fee for the booking placed by the consumer.

Date of transaction - 1/1/2025 Product: "Hot Deal" golfing tee time I purchased a hot deal for multiple golfers in one party from golf now on 1/1/2025 at 5:49 pm and cancelled it on 1/1/2025 at 6:49 pm. Terms of conditions state-All tee times are refundable up to 24 hours before the time of play. Any refunded amounts will be available as credit in your GolfNow account for use on any Hot Deal booking and valid for up to six months. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your tee time are only refundable if the course is closed due to weather on the day of play.I called in to customer service to see if I can have the amount directly refunded to the card used. Golf Now stated that is not possible and against policy. I attempted to use golf now to book a regular tee time, they stated this is not possible. I asked if there is any alternative this credit can be applied to and they stated the only item is their subscription plan which is of no real value to the consumer and would still leave a large balance as a credit. I asked if they are able to provided any information as to when hot deals become available and they could not. When checking out there is no information to the consumer defining if a course with a similar location, price, date, time, or number of people will become available. Also the credit will expire in six months. I believe this policy is intentionally ambiguous to the consumer so that this credit will be next to impossible to use and expire. Golf Now stated that I must review their tee times now for a random occurrence they did not define (Hot Deal) to find not a tee time but a specific "hot deal" tee time that fits the correct location, price, date, time, and number of people. Not only for me but several people as the original booking contained several people. This booking lasted one hour before it was cancelled, I am just looking to swap it for another tee time that works. I also want to bring attention to this fraudulent misrepresentation.

Thank you for bringing case #******** to our attention.

GolfNow Hot Deals are nonrefundable unless the course is closed due to weather. Hot Deals are specialty tee times offered by GolfNow. They are at a discounted rate, always fully prepaid, and allow the usage of promotional codes. In exchange for this, Hot Deals can not be refunded for just any cancellation reason. This policy must be agreed to in order for a Hot Deal reservation to be booked via clicking a checkbox. This policy must be agreed to every time. Hot Deals are noted on our site to stand apart from a course booking by being listed in a different color and specifying Hot Deal at every step of the booking process. Our website even possess a few links titled Hot Deals or Hot Deals Near Me to enable golfers to easily locate numerous Hot Deals in their area for their selected days.

      Complaint: 22794753

I am rejecting this response because:

Golf Now never clearly defines the term how deal. Below is the cancellation policy for hot deals:

Hot Deals Tee Time Cancellation Policy
All tee times are refundable up to 24 hours before the time of play. Any refunded amounts will be available as credit in your GolfNow account for use on any Hot Deal booking and valid for up to six months. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your tee time are only refundable if the course is closed due to weather on the day of play.

Nowhere in this policy does Golf Now define the term "Hot Deal". It falls on the vendor to clearly define the terms and conditions of the policy. This policy is at best ambiguous as it does not define what day, time, location, price, or number of people it will be available for. These are all individually critical for booking a standard golf tee time, combined it is nearly impossible to successfully book another hot deal with multiple members. Because the terms and conditions are clearly ambiguous, this would make the policy contra proferentem. This is defined as the preferred meaning should be the one that works against the interests of the party who provided the wording.

Several attempts to resolve this amicably however Golf Now is using the ambiguity of the policy to hold several hundred dollars and made clear that this can expire after six months. This is why institution like the BBB are here, to provide checks and balances so the consumer can justifiably raise concerns when businesses are taking advantage of consumers.

      Sincerely,

      **** *****

      Business Response

The Terms and Conditions are not ambiguous. We have informed the consumer what constitutes a Hot Deal in our previous response. In addition, they are very clearly labeled to set them apart from regular bookings on GolfNow. Each Hot Deal states that they are, in fact, a Hot Deal at each stage of the booking. From searching the teetime to confirming the player count and before completing the transaction. In addition, this is not the first Hot Deal the consumer has booked according to their reservation history. They are familiar with our Hot Deals and have taken advantage of them. The consumer is showing displeasure at the cancellation policy of said Hot Deals, which again can only be booked with the agreeance of the consumer. They selected the deal for its discounted rate and accepted the policy in order to complete the transaction.

The consumer only provided multiple copies of the same screenshot/file. It is not indicative of a price change. It only reflect the same balance the consumer stated being quoted. If the price has changed, the consumer will need to show that. If the consumer is trying to purchase another package, prices are subject to change until the deposit has been made.

I booked " Hot Deal " tee time on the golfnow.com web site on Jan 4, ************************** in **********. I paid an extra $13 +- for the right to cancel the reservation fir the tee time if I had to cancel. I have spent 4 hours on hold today because there is no way that I could find to get my credit refunded to my credit card on the site. The customer service line is an absolute farce. It's a way of trying to get customers to give up on trying to resolve a problem. I even called their parent company ********** and they simply referred me back to the same permanent "on hold" number. All I want is a credit issued back to my credit card as is stated on the web site will be done if I paid the cancelation fee, which I did. The confirmation number for the transaction is ************ name is Van ***** i used my **** credit card ending in 7007.And if would be a plus if Golfnow would greatly improve their customer service contact support systems. Tee Time Protection may be purchased at checkout for any Hot Deals reservation made through GolfNow.com or the GolfNow app. Tee Time Protection lets you cancel your Hot Deals tee time up to one (1) hour before the time of play. Any refunded amounts will be available as a GolfNow credit loaded into your account and available for use on any Hot Deal booking and valid for up to six months. GolfNow only provides refunds to the original credit card if the course is closed due to weather. If the consumer wishes to cancel their round now or in advance of the reservation, we can assist. However, this will not yield a refund to their credit card.

I am filing this complaint due to a severely mishandled tee time reservation made through GolfNow for ************************* on December 31, 2024, at 10:10 am. This incident resulted in a completely wasted day and significant frustration due to multiple failures on the part of GolfNow LLC.Upon arrival at *************************, my playing partner and I discovered the course was closed. This immediately revealed a critical flaw in GolfNow's system: it allowed reservations for a closed facility. This is a fundamental error that should have been prevented at the outset.Beyond the system error, there was a complete lack of communication. No representative from GolfNow contacted me to inform me of the closure prior to our arrival. This lack of proactive communication is unacceptable and demonstrates a serious lack of oversight and customer service.Further exacerbating the issue was GolfNow's response regarding a refund. Despite the fact that the cancellation was a direct result of their error, I was initially informed that I was not entitled to a refund. This is both unfair and insulting, as I should not be penalized for their company's negligence. This later was partially fixed after spending 30 minutes on the phone with a representative but not all credits came back to my account. The consequences of GolfNow's incompetence were significant. My playing partner and I both adjusted our work schedules to accommodate this tee time. As a direct result of this situation, we lost an entire day of productivity and were left deeply frustrated. This was not a minor inconvenience; it was a substantial disruption caused entirely by GolfNow's failures.

      Business Response

Thank you for bringing case #******** to our attention.

Our system is not infallible. However, communication is dependent on the course. If we are not informed of closures, be they temporary or long term, our system continues to list times as normal. The course is not closed with permanence as there are times listed on their site at a later date and hosts of events. We do not reach out to courses to see if they will close, they reach out to us. We manage a myriad of courses and attempting to reach out to every course in lieu of them contacting us to provide their time changes is not possible.

We see the consumer was fully reimbursed on 1/4. Their used credits and gift card balances were returned to them fully, not partially. A close course always results in a full refund once we are able to confirm the closure, which an agent was able to accomplish.

My husband and I love using the Golf Now services and dont want to cancel but on October 26, 2024 our credit card was charged a second membership fee of $105.93 when our membership was not scheduled to be renewing again until the summer of 2025. I called golf now completely expecting an easy resolution, I was however, met with the exact opposite. The Company claims to not see the charge on their end so I emailed them a copy of our credit card statement. They repeatedly said they did not get the email so I called two or three times after that until finally they said they received it. I expected at this point the problem would be resolved yet here I am now in January still calling and dealing with trying to get our money refunded. What makes it even worse is that there is no direct link to the ****************** at all! Theres only one **************** number and those people dont seem to be able to transfer you to the ***************** and have no physical way of knowing any details about the Dispute which is absolutely ridiculous!! Im still hoping for a resolution but sadly this has tainted my opinion of golf now which was an app I absolutely loved and recommended to all my friends before. I just hope that none of my other friends I recommended the app to have the same issue. I will keep the app since we love the ease and pricing as well as the peacock and **** subscription but I want our money retuned to us even if its just a credit to our account.

Thank you for bringing case #******** to our attention.

We sent the consumer multiple billing dispute forms for them to fill and send back with the required information to locate the charge, but they were not acknowledged. An agent found the relevant information in the screenshot and we used it to locate the charge. The consumer was charged for a ********* membership on the aforementioned date because they had a second account that was used. While we can not disclose the email here as that is considered personal information, we are informing them of it and the additional details in one of the cases we attempted to resolve the matter. The account we have mentioned used GolfNow until April of 2024, but they had an active GolfPass+ membership with autorenewal still on. They stopped using the account, but never opted to cancel the membership or deactivate the account itself. In essence they were paying for two subscriptions on two accounts as a result. We have canceled and fully refunded the ********* membership for the account that is no longer in use. Please allow 3-7 business days for this to reflect on their billing statement. If the consumer wants the account itself deactivated, they will need to sign in and do so under their account management settings.

On December 16 I purchased an electronic gift card to be sent to my brothers email as a gift. Thank you for bringing case# 22757177 to our attention.

We apologize for the delays. During the holiday times we see a large ***** in Gift Card related inquiries and thus our timetable for resolutions increases in reflection of this. We have located the case presented by the consumer and reissued the gift card to the email they have specified. We ask the consumer follow-up with their intended recipient to verify if the card has arrived via email.

Thank you for ringing case# 22742933 to our attention.

The consumer booked a Hot Deal reservation. Our Hot Deal policy is these reservations ae nonrefundable unless the course is closed due to weather. Hot Deals do not possess a cash-refund policy for canceling outside of twenty-four hours. The account credit is what the consumer qualifies for and it is readily available on their account.

I am rejecting this response because: as they did before they are flat out mistating their own written implied contract language.

THere policy states, and I quote and attached.

"Hot Deals Tee Time Cancellation Policy -
All tee times are refundable up to 24 hours before the time of play."

      The legal definition of refund

      Refund
      Definition and Citations:
      To repay or restore; to return money had by one party of another. See Rackl ***************** 93 Me. 99, 44 Atl. 375; ******* *. Mechanics Nat. Bank, 1 ******. (Pa.) 484; ***** v. *******, 48 N. J. Eq. 353, 22 Atl. 590, 27 Am. St. Rep. 473.

A refund does not mean a credit with restrictions.  One cannot redefine the legal intent of a statement, with a new intent and meaning.  That is false representation.

      Sincerely,

The very second line of our Hot Deal policy that was screenshotted by the consumer states that any refunded amounts will be available in the form of a GolfNow account credit. This policy was agreed to by the consumer at the time of booking, as our policy must be agreed to every single time a booking is made by willingly clicking a checkbox that also links our Terms and Conditions. If the policy is not agreed to, a booking can not be made. The consumer can not agree to our policy and then seek a change in it.
