Checkpeople has published intimate information about me that I had removed. It is not okay for companies to expose a persons AGE as well as address. I want my information removed permanently. I wanted to do research on an individual back in February of this year, 2022. There was an offer for a one time cost with Checkpeople.com. Apparently they signed me up for monthly billing after some bogus trial period. I never intended to use this site again, and my lack of activity use should prove this point. Like most people, I use electronic credit card statements. Some months I have $300-$500 in monthly charges. A charge of $19 or $29 may not be noticed in several hundred dollars of billing, especially if the statements are online and not hard copies. I believe this company relies on the this fact and is taking advantage of consumers purposely. I would like my activity use reviewed to prove that I didn't take advantage of this consumer scam to bilk money out of we consumers. This deceptive practice should be discontinued immediately. The numerous complaints received regarding this topic is proof of deceptive
advertising and terms and conditions. Why would an individual consumer need to spend $29 a month for unlimited reports? If this is a legal practice, it is unethical and gives you an insight as to the honesty of this company. This is a "I got you" business practice that needs to be stopped.Business Response

The account was suspended over three months ago, notice was sent to cancel account. The problem has been that checkpeople.com continues to charge the monthly service fee each month after cancelation (3 months as 11/15/2022) . Two tickets were sent requesting a refund of the charges for the previous 2 months have been submitted along with reiterated statements to close account and to discontinue any further charges. I found a site that offered background checks. You type in a name, and they go through all the different types of information and say they have a report. They then prompt you to pay $4.99 for a three day trial. I was curious, so I did. Suddenly, the name I searched couldn't be found. It gave names that they believed were associated with the search subject... and then they charged $6.99 automatically to download the report to be able to read it.
I did not agree to the extra charge. I know my subject has a police record, yet they found nothing at all with his name... and lead me to believe they had information on my subject. It is a fraud and a scam.Business Response

This website is a data broker and their opt-out tool does not work. There are other online complaints about not being able to remove your personal information. When you complete the form to opt-out and attempt to submit it, it says that it cannot locate your profile. Your profile is still able to be viewed and there is no other way to remove it.
