  I think this is a scam. They advertised it would cost $1.00, and then said there would be a shipping charge of 6.99 (?!) I let the charge go through. However, my credit card company contacted me, and when I checked the transaction, there was a charge for $29.00! I tried to sign into the account, but was unable to do so. When I called customer support , I was unable to connect to anyone. I kept trying to reach the telephone number given, but couldn't get connected, They said they were open to 10 P.M., but it was only 7:00 PM when I made these calls.
  
  I am going to call my credit card company to report this is a scam, and tell them to deny the claim for money from this company, and that I did not authorize a charge of $29.00! And I am reporting Checkpeople, LLC as a shady company, using deceptive methods.

  Like a lot of other people on here, I fell for the "one time use" scam. I was very careful to avoid anything that had a monthly fee (it does offer a subscription, but I selected the one time use option) and still they started charging me $29.17 a month.
  
  I tried to call their customer support, but the person on the other end pretends not to hear me (I have called 6 times with the same result, from two phones.)
  
  I am turning the charges over to my bank as fraud.

  I just bought my own background review from Checkpeople today, October 13, 2023. My report is 38 pages and by page 9 I had a quantity of 74 wrong listings from my height, weight, relatives, phone number, email address and over 62 known associates. Again, I was only on page 9 of 38 with this many discrepancies. I called their 800 number, spoke to a very nice young lady and requested to "OPT OUT" from their website and information. I asked where they pulled their data from and was told the credit buraus and voter registration sites?
  Please do not use Checkpeople. I give them zero stars, but this site will not allow me to submit my feedback if I click at least 1 star. There should be a zero star option.

  I was charged $29.15 for over 16 months, when I only signed up for one time use, which it was supposed to be $1.00. I was charged over $466.40 (I think they didn't give the correct start date of the charges). I only used them one time only, and didn't know about the monthly membership; I was going through a really hard time, and was looking for information.
  When I asked the CheckPeople Rep regarding my activity with them, he told me he couldn't help with that information, and that they don't have access to it.
  I want a refund of the $466.40 paid, no service was provided.

  Don't trust them .
  If you do a 1 time transaction they sign you up for a permanent subscription on auto pay without your permission .
  You can't even trust results coming from someone that frauds you like that .

  Very deceptive policies. I thought I was paying one dollar for a one time use. I then get a charge for 29.17 and I called them immediately and they will not refund the money. This practice should be illegal they are stealing your money.

  They are lame to say the least!I tried to get refund after using once and not getting info that I needed, made me go around in circles to get my 29.16 to get a refund, I will call my bank! This sight sucks!

  I agreed to pay $4.99 for a one-time look at my personal info. I was charged an additional $6.99 that same day and another $29.16 three days later with no explanation. I feel ripped off.

  This company is using deceptive practices. They say it’s one dollar for the report. It’s going to be a lot more than one dollar once you give them your credit card number they made unauthorized withdrawals from my account one for $29 one for $6.99. Normally, when you check out you’ll see a price that you’re agreeing to when you give them the credit card information. But not with these guys they just want your credit card without giving you any amount. It’s a scam it’s criminal and I hope enough people complain and the police do something about check people.com. I wanted to run a check on myself before I applied for a government position. The report was very in accurate to say the least. Buyer beware!
