I received an alert that a loan from Lendmark Financial Services was added to my credit report. I do not recognize this loan and believe it is fraudulent. The address for the loan is listed as ***************************************************************. I have never even lived in *******. I am currently working with the local police to get an official police report so I can dispute the loan. I am extremely frustrated that there were not better security checks in place to prevent this loan from being opened in the first place. This is simply unacceptable.Business Response

This car was paid off about a month ago. Notably, after I paid it off, they sent me a balance bill, claiming I owed more. No way to verify this, so I paid it. This was over a month ago now. Meanwhile, I had sold it to a bona fide purchaser. The poor guy logically wants title. Have called Lendmark a number of times. No resolution. No title has arrived.Business Response

I was called this morning by Lendmark because they received my information from Lending Tree about my interest in a loan. They asked if I was still interested. The very first words out of my mouth, after hello, was "I didn't go any further because the loan offers required collateral - and I am not interested in any loans that have collateral requirements". I even told them my credit score and asked if this was something they could work with, and the person said that they could work with that. At this point I thought we were all clear on my position and requirements, and then they ran my application and came back and told me that I would need collateral. Obviously I wasn't happy, and when I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told she was in a meeting - and then when I pressed the issue, I was hung up on. I called back several times trying to resolve this and each time I was hung up on. This may not be exactly "Predatory Lending Practices", but I feel like it's misleading enough to where a complaint is warranted.Business Response

Dear *****************************,
Lendmark Financial Services, LLC (hereinafter referred to as Lendmark) is in receipt of your consumer complaint. We have had the opportunity to review the complaint and will address the customers concerns as follows.
When you applied online a soft pull was completed, then the application was transferred to the nearest branch to obtain additional information. Once we obtained the additional information from you a decision was made. A verbal counteroffer was made to you to consider the application with collateral. There is no way of knowing if collateral would be needed to approve the loan prior to the credit pull. Keep in mind you may be able to see your soft pull inquires, however they are not visible on your credit report profile to potential creditors. When you made the request to speak with a manager one was not available but as soon as they were available you received a return call. We have since reviewed your application and agree with the denial for an unsecured loan.
We trust this resolves the complaint brought forth. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lendmark Financial Services by utilizing our customer contact email address below.

I helped my son (***********,) pay his car note 2 months ago to assist him with a financial crisis. I was told by the rep that my method of payment was for 1 payment only and would be deleted from their file. We'll that did not happen, they used my bank account info to make my son's next car payment. I spoke to a rep and was told to send the posted payment info so that I could receive a refund. When I sent the info, I was told that when my son makes his car payment then I would be refunded my funds. I did not approve of Lendmark to use my account/banking info to make this payment; therefore, I should not have to wait for my son to make a car payment to receive my refund. My name is not on the contract so I do not owe Lendmark any money. Therefore they should send my funds back to me immediately since I have shown evidence that they used my bank account inadvertently for my son's car payment.Business Response

On March 20, 2023 I received a promotional email from *************************** inviting me to apply for a personal loan. I applied and followed up on March 21, 2023 and spoke with ******** who confirmed she received my application but they were short staffed and would call back later to to discuss what items were needed to start the application process. I was then provided an email to with a link attached to provide and upload wage statements, SSI benefits, W-2's. ******** was incredibly rude during the loan process and talked over me when I was trying to ask simple questions. I let her know that one of the employers I work with is a franchise so the name on the wage statement would be different to which she requested I send in a copy of my first ever paystub from this company, my W-2 and my current wage statements ******************************************** jump through more hoops saying my income wasn't enough. I sent her my offer letter from my new employer and was told I needed to wait for a whole first paycheck before I could submit it to Lendmark for review. I called this morning 4/13/2023 at 8:49am and requested a new link to upload my new documentation. I called back at 10:38am for an update and was given attitude from ******** in snippy tone that she has a lot of closings and she would get back to me when she found the time to do so. I called this afternoon at 4:30pm asking for an update and a man answered the phone and I explained that I had been waiting all day for a response and would like to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor is on vacation for the rest of the week so I'm unable to speak with her. ******** called me back at 5:14 nearly 15 minutes before the business is set to close and stated my DTI it too high. I asked for an explanation and she refused to give me one and talked over me. I asked for the number to corporate which she refused to provide and literally told me to ****** it! This is so unprofessional and uncalled for the way she has treated me.Business Response

You notified us that you were working with a debt relief company on November 18, 2017, we received a settlement offer on June 8, 2018, from a debt relief company after your account had already been charged off and received agreed upon payment amount on June 21, 2018. Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
