My grandma died. My mom found policies that my grandmother opened in my name so she would benefit if I died. I had no knowledge of any policy taken out on me. I called kemper life 3/12/24. They said I would have to verify my identity before they would give me info. I verified online and was sent a message stating they would give me info. kemper life sent me a blank page with 4 typed lines on it stating that I would have to pay them for the policy information and where to send the money. I called them back 3/27/24 spoke with **** of kemper who told me I owed them $1808.84 due to a loan that my grandmother took out and never paid. I have no idea why I should pay for a debt I didn't create, never signed for, or had knowledge about. They said that it didn't matter and it was my responsibility. I also have 4 other small policies she took out on me as well and **** suggested I cash those out to pay for the debt of the larger policy. I don't think that's right. So I called again 3/28/24 at 7:55am spoke to ****** who told me that if I didn't pay they would charge me interest and my account will be zero when I die! This is wrong and I shouldn't be responsible for a dead persons debt.Business Response

On March 31st 2023 a storm blew a swingset into my truck.I filed a claim with Kemper and was quoted significantly under what it would cost to actually repair the damage.I didn't have time or the money to get my truck in until March 3rd 2024.I'm awaiting the supplements approval for the final repairs I don't have money for another weeks worth of rental but no one will return my calls.I'm going broke because customer service is apparently not a priority at Kemper.I've contacted a lawyer and if things aren't handled expeditiously we will pursue this matter in court. I'm filing a complaint because this isn't the first time Kemper has done this to me.Business Response

A driver insured by Kemper rear-ended me at a red light in November 2023 while I was at a full stop. Since then, I've tried calling and emailing Kemper more than 20 times. I've only been able to get them on the phone 1 time and apparently their computer systems were "down" that day so they couldn't process my claim... I believe that Kemper knows they are liable to pay for my claim and they are therefore dragging this out for as long as possible.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: The response from Kemper (Infinity Insurance) does not state all the facts. It makes it seem that all contact was initiated by Kemper on 12/6/23, 1/10/24, and 3/20/24. The truth is that I spoke with a Kemper representative once in December to provide my statement but apparently their "computers were down that day" and could not process my claim. Furthermore, I tried calling (always leaving a voicemail) and emailing over 20 times between that initial December 2023 conversation and the complaint that I filed with BBB in March 2024. It is only because I filed a complaint with BBB that Kemper finally called me on 3/20/24 and I was able to provide a statement.Furthermore, the accident is clearly the fault of Kemper's Insured, **********************. He verbally admitted that to me in the aftermath of the accident. My car was at a full stop at a red light and ************ rear-ended me. The photos from the accident, which I provided to Kemper, also make clear that I was rear-ended by ************. It is frankly beyond comprehension that Kemper would contemplate "denying coverage" if they are unable to get in touch with ************. Based on my poor experience with Kemper, I find it difficult to believe that they are putting in much effort to get in touch with ************. I would like to know how many times they have called him and on which dates.

The problem: I faithfully paid my premium to Kemper Life Insurance every month for over a decade. I had a burglary on December 2, 2023 ********************* came to the scene of my home. The point of entry was found and noted. I submitted the policy report, pictures of point of entry, and devastation, a list of inventory was provided and all information that was requested; to my agent first who stated he submitted the information to claim examiner 3x. Not being pleased with his respond, I tried contacting the claims examiner who avoided my calls and emails. However, I finally made contact with *************************. I sent the information numerous times and each time constantly giving the runaround and asked to resubmit. This is the fourth month. For some reasons they are stalling, four months is too long for a claim to go unresolved. Can you help resolve this matter. Closure is needed. Looking forward to your prompt reply. Thank you. On Friday, February 2, 2024, I purchased an auto insurance policy from ******************************* Insurance Company broker ***************************. KEMPER Infinity was the actual policy sold to me for an outrageous broker fee and policy charges for points on my driving record I do not have. On the policy dated 2/2/2024, Ms. listed my points as 0 for my 2020 Mini ****** Hatchback. *************** also convinced me that I should include the driver who came with me to get a cheaper rate. I was charged $936 for this policy. I believed the charge would mostly go toward the policy, instead, the broker charged $521.64 for their rate which is against the law. Kemper Infinity charged $414.36 with a balance of $1922.40 remaining. I ultimately filed a complaint with the ********** Department of Insurance about this and other issues regarding the policy. On February 6, 2024, **************** adjusted my driving points to 5. I currently have two points with one falling off on July 21, 2024. Both are for minor infractions. I canceled the policy on Saturday, March 2, 2024 by sending Kemper Infinity an email dated the same date with a copy of my current insurance policy. At no time did I agree to any amendment to keep any vehicles on their policy. I received an amended policy dated March 4, 2024, for the ***** Accord with the 5 points reflecting on that amendment. All three copies and the receipt are attached. Kemper Infinity is further sending me threatening letters about late payments, and late fees, and threatening to send the *** my cancelation for my license and/or registration to be revoked due to my cancellation. I don't own the ***** Civic but if I did I would have it on my current insurance policy but there is no need because I am not responsible for that vehicle nor do I want it on my current policy. I don't have to prove anything to any of the agencies mentioned in this complaint. I canceled them and bought a policy from another company that is not committing fraud.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: KEMPER Infinity insurance is doing business with an insurance broker, ******** Insurance (Harbor City) that has been proven according to my ********** Department of Insurance complaint and the many documents I submitted in my complaint as well as those to this BBB complaint and those attached to the KEMPER Infinity emails to be a SCAM! They are in the business of ripping of customers period! Clearly, that is acceptable behavior and business practices to KEMPER Infinity since both companies have a mutual agreement to do business together. KEMPER Infinity keeps distancing themselves from ******** Insurance by explaining away all the contradictions in every single document loaded onto their portal. KEMPER made an amendment to the canceled policy and it was still effective after 3/2/2024. My documents PROVE IT! The ****** was removed and the ***** remained on the policy because KEMPER Infinity thought they could get away with ripping off another customer! The documents I downloaded from the portal DONT LIE! So I expect my complaint to remain on BBB so that other consumers are aware of just how KEMPER Infinity and ******** operate! Your attached letter leaves out a lot of information. I went to the portal and downloaded many more documents to support my claim! There were constant adjustments being made to the canceled policy and it wasnt up to KEMPER Infinity or ******** to make amendments to the policy in order to keep it effective after my cancellation!
Sincerely,

My issue is with a claim I filed with Kemper Homeowner's Insurance. We had high winds and rain in September 2023 causing several shingles to be damaged or missing resulting in water leaking into the house.I called Kemper and a representative arrived at our house within 2-3 days of the claim- she told me the shingles on my roof were no longer in production and I would be getting a new roof including the labor for roof and solar panel removal / reinstall. She said they first had to send a sample to a 3rd party vendor (Itel) to confirm the shingles were no longer in production and proceeded to take some of the material with her.Communication process deteriorated after this visit and I kept calling the representative and the independent agent assigned to my claim for status updates to no avail.I got an unsolicited text and email from Kemper corporate directly - stating they had processed my claim on Dec 6th 2023. The amount was $6,845.57, which factored in my 1K deductible. No data was provided showing how they arrived at this amount. My data from roofing contractors and solar company shows: *****K for the roof replacement plus $200 ea for 29 solar panel removal and re-installation. $17K is realistic total. The explanation I got was: The rep who went to my house in September 2023 did not send a sufficiently large shingle sample to Itel The agent did send me a kit with instructions on how and what to remove and prepaid shipping label to send to I-Tel. I did send this in December '23. Now it is March, 2024. Only status update is I-Tel has received my shingle and has invoiced Kemper for the test. My wife and I have had to go up and make spot repairs buying shingles at Loews to prevent further damage. My policy was renewed June 15th, 2023 for one year. Kemper has an obligation to complete proper settlement. I will be contacting attorneys if this is not resolved. This has been an emotionally frustrating experience with a company I trusted to keep my house safe.Business Response

Company price gouges on auto pay. I have never signed a document since i have been a customer of this car ********************** known as infinity. Which is owned by kemper. Last when i had spoke to an agent, i was told to that if i did auto pay, i wouldnt pay the re occuring charges of 10 dollars. So i set up auto pay. Now im still being charged 10 dollars, even though im on auto pay. And now being told if i payed my car insurance in full. I wouldn't pay the 10$ re ocurring fee a month. This car insurance is a rip. I use to have a 12 month term. However they then changed it to a 6 month term policy here. This is a typical rip for the consumer. Because a 6 month premium is able to be Change either up or down in price. They are able to game the market. And they are stealing from alot of americans that have this insurance. If this continues to go on whithout being checked. It will contribute to bad buisness practices.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I choose to no longer be a customer untill you change your buisness practices. Also, this is such a disservice to working Americans that have a fixed income. changing the market every 6 months to a companys benifet is wrong. And i dont accept nor condone in this practice. I will chose a different provider before the end of this month.

On December 3rd 2023 a vehicle ran a stop sign and hit my car. They were insured with Kemper. They fixed my bumper and grill but my auxiliary battery is malfunctioning and this was not happening prior to the accident! It is now February 27th and I am not getting any help to rectify this situation and Jeep is trying to say I will have to pay $1000 to get this fixed when this wasnt my fault. I have been beyond frustrated and getting the run around with this company trying to get in contact with the *** of the company and no one wants to help me get that information! All I want is my car fixed the way it was prior to the accident and this battery issue resolved so I can finally get my car back the way it was before I was hit!Business Response

I was involved in an animal collision causing my vehicle to go to a body shop for repairs. During this time, the body shop had identified additional damage and submitted a supplement to Kemper insurances adjuster. The adjuster initially responded with a supplement from the wrong vehicle across the country. The body shop then followed up asking for the correct vehicle (my car). No response was given from Kemper for approximately a week. I then contacted Kemper and was advised that the adjuster who had been working on my claim just quit and my claim had essentially just been sitting there. Due to all this, the body shop could not work on my vehicle until the supplement was approved so my vehicle sat in the shop not being worked on for that week and half. During this time I was issued a rental vehicle. My rental vehicle coverage was for 30 days. However, due to the delay caused by Kemper, it took the body shop an additional week to fix my vehicle causing me to have to pay out of pocket for an entire week for the rental vehicle. I called Kemper supervisors and suggested that they reimburse me because it seems only right that due to their employee issues my claim got pushed back causing me to have the rental longer. Kemper is refusing to provide any compensation and has acknowledged it is their fault but they are unwilling to do anything because they are getting out of the auto insurance business.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
***********************The insurance company seems to now acknowledge that they originally sent the body shop an approved supplement for the wrong vehicle and then that their employee had quit delaying my process which ultimately extended the time it would take for my vehicle to be completed. My vehicle was originally scheduled to be finished prior to my vacation but due to the delay caused by Kemper and Kemper alone, it was extended another week. Because of there delay, I believe that it is only right that they cover the extra week of expenses for the rental. All of these details are in there system and were talked about with Kemper employees prior to alerting the BBB

I am rejecting this response because:It appears that Kemper is overlooking or just choosing not to comment on the main issue here. I dont want to keep going back and forth. The issue I have is that my vehicle was not able to be picked up until February 26th. Thats when repairs were finished. The vehicle was going to be finished the week prior however, due to kempers employee sending the wrong supplement and then additionally the claim getting lost, my vehicles work was pushed back another week. I think that kemper should be responsible to pay for that week because it was delayed only because of the employee. The body shop can confirm all of these facts as well. Ive always paid my bills in advance and the customer service Im receiving is subpar. Im not looking to continue this conversation but I think that its only right if Kemper pays for the time my claim was delayed.

My insurance provider denied ** coverage because they think we are lying about how my vehicle was damaged, despite having a police report documenting the incident. One morning, I found my car had been damaged while being parked over night. I called the police and filed a police report to document the situation for insurance purposes. After communicating with our insurance provider, Kemper, they denied us coverage, their reason being that the upon analysis, they were told the damage that the car had suffered, could have only occurred if the vehicle was in motion, so it wasnt parked and so we were supposedly being dishonest about how the car was damaged. Their assessment is completely wrong as theres a police report made the same morning of the incident, as undeniable proof. Therefore, our insurance provider, Kemper, is denying us coverage by calling us dishonest, despite having proof.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I do not accept the insurance decision, the answer lies in the car's black box because my car was parked when the damage was received and I have never lied and I will continue insisting that the insurance cover the damage to my car because for That's why I'm paying for full coverage, they can say what they want but their responsibility is to cover the damage to my car, and they still refused to pay the car rental where my policy says 40 Dlls per day.
