I had rental insurance with Kemper Life Insurance for many years. I decided to switch companies in November 2024, after I made my Oct 29, 2024 payment which I had on auto draft. I contacted my local agency and told them to close my policy because I no longer wanted their service. I received an email confirming my request. On Dec 6, 2024, Kempet Insurance Company debited my account for $39.84, which was not to be drafted because I thought this policy was closed and void. I contacted ************* several times to find out why my bank account was drafted after my policy was closed. I was told that my money would be refunded within 10 days. After 12 days on Dec 12th, I contacted Kemper and asked why they were still drafted, they claimed I hadn't signed a close bank account paper which my local agent was supposed to bring to me a week ago and she never showed up to my house and I still don't have my money back. I finish with this company and I want my money back. I received a letter in the mail stating My Billing information Changed. Thats not true.. I close the account, they suppose mail my check for my refund.Business Response

I have full coverage auto insurance with Kemper. Now that I had to make a claim, they have given me the run around, it was hard to get a hold of anyone. The adjuster was very unprofessional and so was her supervisor and now they don't want to pay for repairs and they treat you like a criminal, as if you did your own damages on your car. I pay a lot for this insurance and now they don't want to pay for repairs.Business Response

On December 3, 2024, my automobile was parked in front of my home. My car was side swiped causing quite a bit of damage by someone in a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop and immediately left the accident area. An independent witness, **** ******, that was behind the pickup truck in her automobile, called the Town of *************************** to report she saw the pickup hit my automobile. She provided the license plate number for the pickup truck to the police. The police then notified me of the hit and run and obtained my information (name, address, my automobile insurance company, etc) and provided me with the license plate number for Mr. ********** pick-up truck, his automobile insurance name and policy number. The police officer then went to Mr. ********** home and issued Mr. ******** a traffic ticket for leaving the scene of an accident. I notified my insurance company who requested I file a claim with Mr. ********** automobile insurance company (Kemper Insurance), which I did. I provided Kemper Insurance with the Town of Tonawanda Complaint Information Form and Civilian Accident Information Exchange Form provided to me by the Town of Tonawanda Police. Kemper Insurance refuses to settle my claim because they have not been able to make contact with Mr. *********Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Kemper made a payment of $1507.75 (see attached) for repair of my husband's car based on pictures we sent them. After receiving this payment, my husband took his car to a local collision shop who provided an estimate of $2651.57 to fix the damage of my husband's car (see attached). We sent the estimate and a better picture of the damage to my husband's car to Kemper (see attached). To date, we have not received a response from Kemper.

Our car was stolen about two and a half months ago. It was immediately reported to the police and insurance. We were told by a Kemper agent that an adjuster would reach out to us to help us figure out what is covered/what can be done for us. Despite reaching out, we never received a call. Fast forward about a month later, the car was found; but has damages (broken window, ignition was hotwired, needs to be cleaned inside). We informed Kemper, and were even given a second adjusters numbers since the first one never reached out. Our claim has never been dealt with since then. We tried reaching out to managers as well and after leaving several voicemails we still have not received any response or help. We are paying monthly for insurance that is not doing their job.Business Response

I was rear ended on October 4, 2024 by an unlicensed commercial driver. This insurance company was merely impossible to reach. Took multiple emails and calls to send out an adjuster one month later. The estimate check was finally sent after multiple calls. It was a small percentage the repair of my Tesla. The collision repair shop is trying to get a supplemental check. Meanwhile Im relying on others to get me to work and bring my kids to school. This company is not reachable and they attempt to wear you out so that they can keep their money. Next complaint is to the Texas insurance bureau. I would think they would want this settled **** considering the driver wasnt licensed and it involves a commercial work vehicle. The company of the truck said they received notice that this claim has been settled. I have the police report number also.Business Response

on 12/6/24, I spoke with **** ******* about my claim. During that encounter, I requested to escalate my call to his manager. Mr. ******* refused to escalate my call stating "I am the adjuster handling your claim" I explained to him he can proceed with handling my claim, however I wish for my concerns to be escalated about him as the claims adjuster to his manager. When asked why he was denying my request he just kept repeating he is the adjuster and is handling my ******** concerns are: 1. Poor customer service: NO concession has been extended for the inconvenience of this loss 2. Rental coverage: Your insured (unlicensed driver) was at fault for this accident causing my vehicle to be a total loss. When I requested a rental, I was told I had to set that up on my own and submit the receipt for reimbursement. Kemper is accepting liability; therefore, this should be arranged on my behalf with direct billing to Kemper. I am the claimant and should not be paying out of pocket for anything. Especially since Kemper accepted liability. Additionally, rental is only reimbursed at $24.99/day. There is no rental company with those daily rates. 10 years ago, maybe but current rates are around $32/day. 3. Vehicle Key: I told **** the vehicle key was lost in the accident, yet he is deducting the cost to replace the key from my total loss settlement amount. I asked for consideration of this and was told NO.4. Vehicle value: I put a brand-new transmission in my vehicle 3 years ago but was told by Mr. ******* no consideration would be made for this when valuing the vehicle since a transmission is necessary to drive the vehicle and is not an "enhancement". I disagree, had Kemper's insured did not total my vehicle I would still have use of my transmission for more miles. Overall, my experience with Mr. ******* was good until I requested to speak to his manager about my concerns and he refused. That is inappropriate to refuse a customer's request for escalation.Business Response

On September 12, 2024 a man named **** hit my car in a parking lot in **********. I provided all the necessary documentation and a week later, I was informed that my check was in the mail. Then two weeks later, never having received the check, the insurance agent then told me they needed a statement from their insured person (****) and were not able to reach him. It's now been almost 3 months. I've tried escalating the insurance company and went the agent's manager ****** ******. I've been trying to reach out to him for 3 weeks with ZERO response. He won't even respond to my email saying he's receiving the emails. This insurance company is NOT acting in good faith. I would not recommend them.Business Response

I pay for full coverage auto insurance. They are advising me that since my son is not a driver noted on my policy they will not cover my collision damage. This information was never revealed to prior to my policy and I found out they do not cover theft. I am rejecting this response because: it was never disclosed to me that household members would not be covered. I am also concerned that my full coverage does not include theft. This goes back to the issue of the definition of auto insurance not drivers insurance and I believe that your clause is voided since my car coverage is what I pay for and not driver's insurance. I am still expecting this to be covered by the insurance policy that I pay for. Regardless of who was driving. No one ever explained that anyone not listed would not be covered therefore this is a breach of contract since it was not disclosed at the time or back in September when my son had his first accident. Listen to your recorded messages from that conversation.
