I just got paid from my employer $2125 today March 3, 2023 and when I went to check my Keybank account there were 8 total fraudulent charges totaling $2131.05 on my account from CareerBuilderchicago pos. I did not authorize any of these charges and my entire paycheck was taken when bills including rent is due and can not now be paid. I called my bank and cancelled my card, ordered a new one and filed a dispute with them. I want all of these charges taken off my account immediately and for the $2,131.05 be refunded back into my account. Thank you

      Hi *****,

Thank you for your feedback submitted via the Better Business Bureau.

The team had to do some digging as the email address associated with your account was *************************** and not the one associated with your BBB feedback **************************.
Under the email above and your credit card, someone purchased 8 subscriptions online on March 3. We received a CC transaction history for duplicate charges and investigated the  account and this was labelled as fraud. There has been no chargeback received from your bank as of yet.

The cancellation and the credit/refund on all 8 invoices have been processed and the subscriptions have been cancelled.

However, I was advised by the team they cannot find any communication from either emails or phone to advise us you false charges were made on March 3.

When you speak to your bank on credit card charges, the first thing they will advise you is to reach out to the merchant to resolve the issue.

In the future we advise you reach out directly to our teams, as if this was done we could've assisted you faster and you would have been refunded on the same day.

      Kindest regards,

      The CareerBuilder team

Was approached by Salesperson and had discussion on September 14th to use their services. The discussion was for a 12-month contract that can be cancelled at any time. Salesperson made promises to have a robust turnout for our job search. Several weeks went by and no candidates. I contacted them and it turns out that no posting was made and they and I worked to get that changed immediately. After a couple weeks and still no candidates, I called and emailed to cancel my subscription. They did not inform me that a cancellation needed to be made online. Once I had a technical support person assist, I cancelled and disputed the month where no job posting was made. They said they would "research" the issue and talk about issuing a refund for that month. Today, I was informed that they have been continuing to bill monthly even after I cancelled online, had numerous emails informing them that I had cancelled and was no longer using their services and trying to dispute a month's invoicing. They instructed me that if I don't pay all of the outstanding invoices (3) they will continue to invoice me.

On 10/28/2022, I posted a position on CareerBuilder (on behalf of ******* ********* Services) and accidentally (unintentionally) checked the box for a subscription rather than a 1 month plan. CB's "Customer Support" brought that to my attention once I filed my complaint with them in December when they renewed my listing for 2 more months. I acknowledged my initial error. When I visited the website to make edits to my new position listing, I saw there was an 11/27/2022 "Expiration Date," which I interpreted as the date the account would close, not knowing that that also was an "Auto-Renewal" date, and that the listing will be and was renewed on that date. While recruiting I don't routinely go to the page listing my position, and was unaware of the changing renewal dates until I examined their Dec invoice (for ********* Their policy is to automatically withdraw payment the day after the auto-renewal date (12/28) even though payment is shown due at the end of the following month (1/27). It is already too late to cancel the plan much less the transaction.I believe that these 2 major policies/practices are very unfair to the customer. CB refused to compromise in any way. I argued that "expiration date" is more than misleading -- it's fraudulent. "Auto-renewal date" is the true definition, and if shown, would have allowed me to see my error when I first visited that page, and cancel the plan in time.Their pre-payment policy upon auto renewal (which was not communicated, to my knowledge) also does not allow the customer to cancel in time. Please see the attached screen shot, taken today; it shows an expiration date of 11/27 -- what happened to the two additional months for which they automatically renewed my account (and charged $357.38 each): Dec 2022 and Jan 2023?I seek reimbursement of the two additional months ($714.76) to the credit card on file because CB's unfair business practices compounded the losses. Please note: My email with CB is ********************

As a potential customer (we own a small business), we created an account to post an ad. Within HOURS we decided to cancel (free trail was only 5 days). The instructions on how to do that didn't work and had to ****** to find anything. Called, they didn't answer - , sent an email to the ONLY email address listed anywhere and called 2 days later (they don't answer or work on weekends). Have gotten the runaround and bait and switch for 4 days and talked to 4 differect customer service people. It's a nightmare - AND they billed us for one month in advance - over $400!!! Never posted an ad, never used it and have proof of contact and their voice logs (they record). Opened a case (Case number ********) for the REFUND and recieved a note the next day "your case is closed/resolved". The case was for a refund, not how to close the account??!! This is clearly a bait and switch. There are 4 phone calls they say they recorded to track how this conversation went and I have email proof of everything. Requesting our $449 as we cancelled the same day via their broken email and vague webite.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

My department received an invoice in January 11, 2023, charging my company AMEX $384. CareerBuilder claims it was done by ***************************, whom works with me. We have checked her computer and do not see any purchases completed with CareerBuilder since 2020. When reaching out to CareerBuilder to let them know this was a fraudulent charge, they stated to work with the credit card bank. I told them that was unacceptable, as they charged the card and activated services that were not requested. I also asked them to provide me with a phone number of someone that I could speak with. ******* also was in contact with CareerBuilder and requested the contract. They did not have one on file and stated they couldn't provide one. Therefore, how is this a valid charge. There is nothing in place describing what the charge even consists of - acess to the website? Is it for a job post? They have nothing on record, but will not reimburse the card or close the account. This is fraudulent!

      Hi *****,

Thank you for your feedback to the better business bureau and apologies for the delay in a response.

I understand from our teams you wrote to us seeking an update about an invoice being billed for CT-******* for a contract you entered for 1 job posting per month with CareerBuilder in 2020.

Your company has been billed from the start of the contract (9/11/2020 until 2/10/2023) via an **************** under your name for the same amount each month - ****** USD. Before 2020 this was under ***********************. For any questions on the recurrent monthly payments we would advise you to reach out to your credit card company to get more details if required.

The team have cancelled your auto-renew and your account and products are now no longer active to be utilized. However, as you have had access to products for over 2 years, we will not be able to refund any contract fees.

      Kindest regards,

      The CareerBuilder Team

I, like many others have lost their job and seeking places of employment. Amazingly enough, the workforce commission in ** recommended CareerBuilder. This is the biggest mistake I could have made without researching (as I usually do). I have been inundated with spam emails and calls to the point where I might have to completely deactivate my ****** email account that I use for more reputable sites. I have attempted to delete my account and delete my personal information and the site has been conveniently down for over ****************************************************** to email them which I have. I would like my account deleted from this horrible site. They scam people and don't vet their employers.

      Hi ****,

I am sorry to hear about your experience, but I want to assure you we do verify each and every company who utilize our products and no information was stolen or sold without consent!

I have had a look in our system and I can confirm there is still an account active on CareerBuilder under the email address you have provided:********************. . I have requested the removal of this account on your behalf, so no employer is able to download your Resume of CareerBuilder. You will receive an email from our partner OneTrust to confirm your identity. Once you have confirmed your ID, your profile will be deleted.

Unfortunately, if you applied off of the Careerbuilder.com site or through an external application (without creating an account) on the client side, your information is accessible to those employers. We are unable to delete any records on employer's systems. If you wish to stop receiving communication from these companies, you will need to notify these company directly of this so they can address the removal of your details within their systems.

In your feedback you mentioned spamming, are you able to provide examples of employers spamming you? I am afraid I see none attached to the case. You also mentioned the website being down, are you able to advise when this was as we have no record of the website having been down?

I was laid off from my prior job Sept 28, 2022. I created an account on CareerBuilder shortly afterwards. The amount of "junk" calls and emails started immediately afterwards. It was so bad I ended up deleting my entire CareerBuilder account. I have since started a new job.My complaint is that recruiters still call, text and email me every day and when I ask where they got my information they all say from CareerBuilder where they still see I am looking for work. How can they be reaching out to me if my account was actually deleted???I am requesting that CareerBuilder TOTALLY remove my resume from being able to be seen by recruiters.

      Hi *****,

Thank you for your feedback submitted via the Better Business bureau. I would like to start with apologizing for your experience being spammed by recruiters!

I have had a look in our system and I can indeed see as you mention in your feedback that there is no longer any account active on CareerBuilder under the email address you provided: *********************** as this has been deleted as per your request. Upon deletion of your account your resume is no longer searchable on the database. As you mentioned employers are still stating they are finding your profile on CareerBuilder, I have had another look and I found that there is a different account registered under the email address: *********************** for which no deletion request was submitted. If you can confirm if this is your email address, I can submit this account for deletion as well.

Unfortunately, if you have applied on another platform linked from CareerBuilder or your information has been retrieved by an employer and saved locally while your profile was active we are not able to delete that information from their systems. You will need to contact these companies directly with your request to be removed from their systems and to stop contacting you.

I wish you a lovely day!

I signed up for Career Builder in order to apply for a job I saw posted on the site. Since signing up, though, I've been constantly contacted by repetitive scam calls and emails, both related and completely unrelated to my job search. I attempted to deactivate my account, but they wouldn't let me and I received an email saying that someone from customer service would contact me. No one has, and I've continued to receive several scam calls, texts, and emails per day. I ignore and block/report all of them but they do not stop coming. I did some research and Career Builder sells information to third parties. I assume this is what is happening here.

BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
