I have submitted multiple requests to have my account deleted as I have been relentlessly spammed and stalked by "employers" who are trying to scam me and get my information. I get 2-3 calls and several emails daily because they have been selling my information. Every time I submit a request to delete my account, it signs me back up for the endless communication they send out. This should be prosecuted for infringing upon consumers' rights, especially with how they sell our information. I can't believe the government recommended this site to find employment.

I signed up for a free 7 day trial to post a job on behalf of my organization, and then received an invoice soon after in the amount of $349! I tried calling them several times to reverse the charge on my credit card since I never was able to access my job posting, and because nobody applied to my post either, I kept getting sent to voicemail. When I did get someone on the line they said they couldn't help me and transferred me to a voicemail. I NEVER got anyone on the line who was able to help me with the bogus charges, and who was able to take my credit card off my account. Now I'm fearing I'll get charged $349 every month on my credit card, and I'm not even able to access my account! I supposedly only posted ONE job, which I can't even access, and to which nobody applied to. This is injustice and the worst job posting site I've ever experienced as an HR Manager.

Recently started receiving emails again from CareerBuilder and I was interested in part time employment or work from home opportunities. Ever since I updated my information on CareerBuilder, I have been inundated with relentless spam calls and emails. I reached out to CareerBuilder requesting that they remove my information, stop sending job emails (which all the ones I received have been scammish in nature) and that they unsubscribe me from their service; all to no avail. This is ridiculous and I can honestly say, the uptick in spam emails and calls DID NOT start until AFTER I updated my information on CareerBuilder.

I wanted to bring a situation I have with Career Builder. I have had an employer account with Career Builder for the last 2 years. I signed the last contract on July 30th with an end date of October 30, 2022 ( based on negotiations it was agreed for 15 Months). As a Minority small business owner who is building back his business from the Covid downturns it has been a bit difficult and has been delayed sometimes but have always paid when I have had a chance to get on the operations stuff. Any way to make it short I had a bill that was delayed. Somewhere around the end of March I tried to log i and it showed that my account was put on hold so I assumed that they have stopped the services in my recent conversations with the account rep he also agreed that the account was shut down in March but according to the accounts receivable the account was closed on the 18th of May. After the end of the contract, they came back to me asking me to pay the pending invoices including the ones after the services were stopped which is unfair in my mind. I told them it is not a matter of the money and thatif I owe then I will pay them and paid them all the invoices they said were pending. I need a solution on this one point. I dont think I owe them any money for the period they stopped the services ( May 18, 2022 To October 31, 2022) which is nearly 6 months of service. I asked them about that and they mentioned that was part of the contract and I am obliged to pay them. I would have been ok if they had kept the services alive and then told me To pay it out but in this case, they shut down the account. I was asked to pay for services that were not provided to me. They said they cannot do an extension since the contract has ended. That is totally unfair to small business It looks like the people that reached out including the salespeople have been out of the country and do not understand the ground realities in the US. I have asked them to speak to a manager with no response

      Dear ******,

Thank you for your feedback submitted via the better business bureau.

You confirmed that you signed a contract with CareerBuilder on 7/30/2021 with an end date of 10/30/2022.

Your account was placed on hold around May 2022 due to non-payment. Your Customer Success manager reached out advising ********************* the account was on hold because of non-payment, and to regain access to our services the unpaid invoices would have to be settled. Additionally, now a new contract would need to be signed as there is currently no longer an active contract in place between ********************* and CareerBuilder as this expired on 10/30/2022. ********************* has settled the outstanding invoices.

Your Customer Success manager has also advised that we are not able to provide access to the platform free of charge, but we are happy to work out a discount for ********************* if signing a new agreement.

Please let me know if you would like me to put you in contact with someone from the sales team to discuss a new contract, unfortunately we cannot reinstate your account or provide access to CareerBuilder's systems free of charge.

      Kindest regards,

      Your CareerBuilder Team

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/05/2022

      Complaint: 18411771

I am rejecting this response because:

I totally agree with the delay and you sent us a automated note. That note was acceptable as long as it was for the services that I had access to and delayed my payment.

      1. As you have already agreed that you put my account on hold in May. That was for the delay in the Invoice for ******* and I accept that there was a delay in the payment and you stopped my access to the site. My question is If I have not paid for the services and you put my account on hold then why did you bill me for the time that I had no access from May. What is the company's policy on billing for services not provided

      2. As to talking to a customer service manager I had asked your agent earlier to be able to talk to a local manager and was not offered one and your response also dont not seem to indicate one. I think it is a moot point as your customer service agents that you are offering to talk have no idea of what the local markets is as they are all offshore.

      3. I don't think I want to go through another contract with you after what I have been put through. I do not want to invest more time on this issue. I am open to see an acknowledgement of error on your part in billing me for services not provided would be great for me to close this and move on

      Thanks

      Sincerely,

      *********************

      Business Response

      Date: 12/15/2022

      Hi ******,

      Thank you for your feedback.

If your account is put on hold due to non-payment, any invoices that are already outstanding will need to be paid to gain access. During the time your account is on hold, there was still an active contract and you will have been charged for the services you purchased, and would continue to be charged for these services, for the duration of the contract you signed.

In this case your Account Manager had already reached out advising that we are not able to provide access to the platform free of charge and the reason for the account being placed on hold; non-payment of several outstanding invoices. You were also advised that for ********************* to regain access to their account while being on hold the unpaid invoices would have to be settled. I apologize if this was not clear at any point!

I regret to inform you that CareerBuilder will not be able to amend any invoices or provide access free of charge. I understand you do not wish to sign a new contract, but unfortunately this would be the only way to gain access to our services. ****, your account manager, is happy to work out a discount if you would be happy to discuss a new contract.

      Thank you.

      Kindest regards,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this is not the solution I had intended to receive and as I mentioned earlier I am not interested in signing another contract and going through this same issue as this is taking too much of my time and would not add any value. I am closing this complaint but would place this on record to say that I am totally disappointed in their customer service policy and they have not even taken the effort to find a solution for their missed opportunity.

I am hoping this issue brings an issue to the forefront and definitely would not use or recommend them

I informed the company in February that I wanted to cancel our contract. They continue to bill me for services not rendered by referring to a auto renew agreement in the contract. ******** does not allow for that clause, it requires active consent. I both cancelled and did not give consent, but they are still trying to collect.I want them to wipe our debt for services that were not rendered and to inform other companies of their unsavory business practices.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/28/2022

      Dear ****,

Thank you for your feedback submitted via the Better Business Bureau.

I understand you would like to cancel your contact with CareerBuilder and you confirmed that you provided CareerBuilder with the information you would like to cancel your contact in February 2022.

*******************s notification via email of its intention to not renew the Order Form was untimely under the terms of the Agreement, as it did not provide ninety (90)days written notice of [your] intent not to renew (by October 2, 2021) as stipulated in the Order Form.  As a result, the Agreement (**********) auto-renewed per the terms of the contract on December 31, 2021.

In your feedback you stated that ************** law does not allow for that auto-renewal clause, that active consent is required.  However,**** Gen. **** Law 527 only applies to business-to-consumer transactions, not business-to-business (B2B) transactions.

As stated in the ****** Services Agreement, your contracts are governed by ******** law not ********,but even if the ******** law would have applied, CareerBuilder provided the auto-renewal language in clear and conspicuous terms on the Order Form and ******************* gave affirmative consent to the automatic renewal by signing it.

Per Section 11.1(b)of the **** either party may terminate this Agreement at any time upon 30 days prior written notice to the other party if the other party materially breaches this Agreement and fails to cure that breach within the 30-day notice period.  In this case, you have not demonstrated that CareerBuilder materially breached the Agreement.

I regret to advise that this contract cannot be cancelled as the cancellation request was not received within the contractual 90 days before the renewal of the Order Form, but we can accept your previous correspondence as notice to prevent auto-renewal on December 31, 2022.

      Kindest regards,

Unfortunately I regret to advise that your cancellation request was not received within the contractual 90 days before the renewal of the Order Form, we can accept your previous correspondence as notice to prevent auto-renewal on December 31, 2022, but this contract cannot be cancelled.

      Kindest Regards,

      The CareerBuilder Team

I've made several attempts to close my account as the information is being sold to scammers. Yet, I continue to be contacted by email and phone by scammers. None of the numbers provided on the website are working numbers. I attempted to call this business number you have listed here on your site, and the same issue, no one picks up the phone and instead routes you somewhere to then hang up on you. It seems this busines and its site are a scam.

      Hi *******,

Thank you for your response provided via the Better Business Bureau.

I can confirm that there is unfortunately still no account active on CareerBuilder under the email address ********************** that you provided and that there has never been account active under this email address. I can see that you provided an example email from ******************* advising they got your resume on CareerBuilder.

As you do not have an account on CareerBuilder under this email address it is not likely the employer downloaded your details via CareerBuilder. I have also run another search on our Resume Database and there are no details searchable under this email or name. Unfortunately we often see that a company may represent themselves as a customer of ********************** while they are in no way affiliated. They do this because we have millions of users and attempt to use the brand to legitimize their contacts.

I have highlighted to our support teams that you were unable to contact them via the employer phone number *************.

If you have applied off of the Careerbuilder.com site or through an external application your information is accessible to those employers. If you wish to stop receiving communication from companies stating they found your details on CareerBuilder, you will need to notify these company directly of this so they can address the removal of your details within their systems. We are unable to delete any records on employer's systems.

      Kindest Regards,

      Hi *******,

Thank you for your feedback provided via the Better Business Bureau.

I can confirm that there is not and never has been an account active on CareerBuilder under the email address ******************* that you provided. Do you have another email under which this could be created?

If you have signed up for anonymous job alerts or to a Talent Network you may receive emails from CareerBuilder. To unsubscribe from emails or a client's Talent Network you would have to click on the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email if you still receive emails from this Talent Network or client after clicking on unsubscribe, could you please send these as an attachment to me via [email protected]? This will help me investigate why you may still receive these if you have unsubscribed!

At times it also happens that a company represents themselves as a customer of ********************** while they are in no way affiliated. They do this because we have millions of users and attempt to use the brand to legitimize their contacts. Do you have any examples of the companies reaching out to you stating they found your resume on CareerBuilder?

Unfortunately, if you applied off of the Careerbuilder.com site or through an external application your information is accessible to those employers.
