**** promised a free trial I did not get. I logged on 10/27/23 and made sure auto renew was not selected then I was billed another $ ****** on 10/30/23. Then they just keep emailing without any resolution. THis should a a criminal case. I Never received a single application for a client service rep and they would not refund. I have never seen so many terrible reviews they are a scam and should be added to the list of scammers!Business Response

Hi ******,I am sorry to hear about your experience, but would like to assure you that I am here to assist you. In reviewing the notes, I see that when you spoke to our **************** representatives via email on 10/30/2023 you stated that you were going to contact your credit card company to dispute these charges. Doing so would negate our ability to refund you as the credit card companies contact us when clients dispute charges or file chargebacks.
I also would like to note that the company had originally signed up for our services prior to October as the first invoice was dated 9/29/2023 and then the 2nd invoice dated 10/29/23 as the ecomm is a subscription billed on a monthly basis. It may help to know that your account was created on 8/16/23.I can confirm that no further billing or charges have been made. I hope this information is helpful.Kindest Regards,Your CareerBuilder TeamInitial Complaint

Signed up on 10/23/23 and have been receiving spam calls, texts and voicemails when I did not sign up for that. I turned my settings off to not be discoverable and I am still being contacted. I try to follow their instructions to delete my account - they say theyre going to send me an email to confirm deletion of my account and Ive submitted the request twice and still no email to confirm my deletion. These people are a scam and just sell your information rather than helping you get a job.Business Response

I subscribed to the CareerBuilder Lite plan on October 18, 2023, after receiving an invoice of $261.75 through a promotional link I found via ****** Search. I received an email confirmation along with the transaction invoice. However, on October 23, 2023, I noticed an additional charge of $349.00 on my invoice without any prompt or account sign-up from my end.Concerned about this issue, I initiated a chat with CareerBuilder's support team. Unfortunately, the attendant provided multiple inaccurate invoicing amounts and claimed that a second account was created. To make matters worse, my account was blocked from accessing the transaction history, and the chat attendant couldn't provide a satisfactory explanation. They mentioned that an internal investigation was required due to a technical error. I immediately requested the cancellation of the unauthorized second account and a refund of the $349 charge.Despite my request, CareerBuilder replied stating that I had used the account, making a refund impossible. However, I had already paid in full for the original account, and I had explicitly requested the cancellation of the second account on October 23, 2023. To support my case, I provided them with both invoices. After presenting the evidence, they offered me a 50% refund for the unauthorized double charge on the CareerBuilder Lite membership. At this point, I am requesting a 50% refund for the purchased service, considering that I have utilized their service for 14 days. Additionally, I am also demanding a full refund of the unauthorized charge of $349. As a large corporation supporting small businesses, CareerBuilder's unauthorized charges not only cause financial harm but also waste valuable time and resources.Business Response

Hi *********,I am sorry to hear about your experience. In reviewing the notes, I see that you have done a chargeback on your credit card stating that the charges were fraud. Doing this negates our ability to refund you as the credit card companies contact us for payment when clients dispute charges or file chargebacks.
It appears that this was done shortly after our ****** Services team approved you for a refund. So at this point there is need for a refund to be given.Kindest Regards,Your CareerBuilder TeamInitial Complaint

I removed my profile from careerbuilder after dozens of spam recruiters emailed, called, and texted me. ALL of them said they got my resume from careerbuilder. So in addition to removing my profile I lodged a request as per the instructions on their website to have my account deleted completely, all my information. This was a month ago and I'm still getting spam calls. When I call careerbuilder customer service it prompts me through several menus only to finally say I must email them and I cannot talk to a live person. I want my account fully deleted and ALL my personal contact information erased!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not claim that I was getting emails from CareerBuilder but that I was getting spam emails from dozens of recruiters (or so they say, they are all Indian coincidentally so I dont believe it) that found my rsum on CareerBuilder even though I dont have an account. Maybe its possible that someone has hacked into your database or maybe I have an account under my old email address. Would you please check if one exists under that email and if so erase everything attributed to it. Its ****************** (rather than yahoo).

I have been receiving nonstop and conflicting emails from various email addresses from CareerBuilder insisting that they will force me into a contract that I do not want. I have not used their system for over a year because of various technical issues. I attempted to reach out for technical and customer support without success. I requested a non-renewal of my contract by emailing a general mailbox that they had provided but never received feedback. I then reach out to the last person I spoke with on about this matter, and that person confirmed that my account was in NON-Renewal Status. For the past few weeks, I have been receiving a non-stop stream of emails insisting that I must renew my contracts with them - even after I have received several recent emails from them stating that "This is to inform you that we were able to get the approval on cancellation and Credit request for the renewed contract". I have begged them to update their information. I have submitted copies of some of the past emails that confirmed that 1) I had not been able to use the website when I had the contract with them, 2) I was not able to get any helpful assistance to address the technical and customer service issues, 3) I had requested Non-Renewal of the contract, 4) that email address they provide to send non-renewal request never responded, 5) I was able to get confirmation that my contract was indeed in non-renewal status, and 6) While I am still receiving emails suggesting I still have a contract with them, I have also received several emails that informed me that they "... were able to get the approval on cancellation and Credit request for the renewed contract". Now, this is starting to feel like harassment that is having some seriously negative impact on my mental health and overall well-being. I am writing this to once again ask that you update your records to reflect that I have NO ACTIVE CONTRACT WITH YOU.Business Response

When you reached out to our support, you should have been given a case number, which automatically generates and triggers an email. Can you please share that case number with me. All of our cases (phone calls, emails, etc.) are logged/recorded so this will help me to pull your communications and assist you better. Some other items that might be helpful should you not be able to find the case number: Contract Number (starting with **-), name/email of the last person you spoke with that confirmed that your account was in a Non-renewal status.
Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:I want to provide the additional feedback that the business practice of your sales and accounts receivable people attempting to intimidate business owners to pay for services that they are not receiving and using this scammy contract term to insist they pay you for services that you are essentially not providing is just not cool at all.
While I am happy to hear you have resolved this for my case, I very much hope you will consider ceasing to inflict this practice on other businesses - especially small business owners who already have so much to deal with.
I am hopeful.

Unfortunately, if you applied off of the Careerbuilder.com site or through an external application (without creating an account) on the client side, your information is accessible to those employers. I am rejecting this response because:As clearly seen in my email attachment, the company that reached out to me a month after I closed my account stated they got my information from Careerbuilder.com. Thus your argument of "if you have applied on another platform linked from CareerBuilder" cannot be correct.
As you said, this is a case of the third-parties downloading my resume and saving it locally while my profile was active. My issue is that you are clearly making it easy for third-parties to download and store hundreds to thousands of resumes. Even in your privacy policy you state "We cannot control the retention, use, or privacy of resumes or **************** Profiles that have been downloaded by third parties." My resume is on many other job recruiting sites, yet, Careerbuilder.com is the ONLY site where I am getting this issue of unwanted and suspicious recruiter emails. Clearly there is something happening on the backend where you make it easy for "recruiters" to download hundreds of resumes at the click of a button. You're exploiting innocent consumers who, once they put their resume on your site, you can then go ahead and immediately sell it to some suspicious source without vetting how they will use that data.
Sincerely,

I apologize that you are unhappy with the response. Unfortunately, your information is no longer in our system. I attempted to find you by name, as well as by email and you are no longer in our system anywhere. This indicates that any calls or emails you are receiving are coming from outside of our organization.
I know that you believe that Careerbuilder sells your information but this statement is untrue. We are simply a platform for which jobseekers, such as yourself, can list their information for employers to contact them. This would be similar to a ******** type scenario. I had an account with CareerBuilder in 2023 to find a job, but did not have any successes finding a job through the site. When I found a job through other venues, I chose to delete my account to cut down on the number of marketing emails I receive from jobseeking sites. Deleting my account on ********************** was more complicated than it should have been as I was required to request my "private information" on the site be removed along with the account deletion. Since requesting my CareerBuilder account be deleted on August 29th 2023, I have received 11 identical emails from "On Behalf Of CareerBuilder <**********************>" with the subject "Your Privacy Request has been completed." These emails contain no follow up steps to complete the account deletion process as they state the process is already completed. So why do I continue to receive the same email sometimes three times within an hour? I just want to stop receiving these emails and warn folks of a potential spam situation.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:This is a pat answer with no actionable steps on your part. Just because you created a document about fraud does not mean that you are not working consistently with fraudulent companies. The system in which you use to vet your job postings needs to be evaluated to help ensure safety of the customer. This can not all be put back on the customer's vigilance.
