I bought this tractor from RK on April 10 of 2020, and had numerous issues that were illustrated in my complaint filed 9/6/2022, ID # ********, at the point this complaint was closed, RK was promising prompt repairs, and to extend my warranty one year due to lost use of tractor...
since then, RK did not live up to our agreement left all repairs except hydrolics and front end unresolved, and never gave extended warranty, and after numerous calls and text to my latest of 4 manager or district manager contacts, have not heard back from *******, after 10 months of texts, calls, and attempted store meetings to discuss issues with original repairs and new problems im having with this tractor, im running out of time, the district manager ******* hid from me in the store, and must have had people looking for me, because after calling and finding out work days and times, he was never in the store to meet me or return a call or text since February of 2023...
Since then safety buzzer for reverse became inoperable, front axel has continued to leak gear oil, about 10 gallons over the last year, but most concerning was the fact that when i first noticed the leak, and started monitoring it, i was able to attach a pan underneath the leak , and found rusty water in the pan, about 6 ounces in fact, which means as i noticed, RK had left my tractor out the entire time the front end was apart, and obviously never drained the oil before filling after the repair...that wasnt so bad until the front axel right wheel, same as before has had 2 more incidents of locking up, luckily on muddy surfaces, because it would cause tractor to flip and roll if it ever occured on a hard surface that would grab the wheel. I cant believe any company with this kind of customer service is still in business, and I would like someone to be a contact point to resolve my problem at once. I have been very reasonable in what I have asked from rural King, and have given them ample time to resolve it. Thank you.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:It is incenuation by simply having a website. Your company is making it harder on yourselves and aggravating customers. We will go elsewhere to buy your products. The facts are there were three of us ordeing that day when i spread the word on the sale, now we will shop elsewhere for the products. What is the purpose of an online ordering system if it is not live? Where is the big clause description on the page stating this or is it in fine print? I feel I have to do this companies job by calling to check the stores inventory.

The online advertising prior for holiday sales displayed a River's Edge Uppercut Ladder Stand on sale for $139.00. I tried to order 2 units but could not place the order because it was out of stock. I contacted customer service via email to inquire about the sale and they responded that the item could not be back ordered. I accept that this is their policy, I checked the online advertisement every day for a week and each day the item's price remained on sale still showing out of stock. Today (Dec. 24th) I again checked the item and it is now listed as on sale for $119.00. The item is still listed as out of stock. This seems to be an intentional misrepresentation because at no time since the initial advertisement has the item actually been available for purchase. I spoke with customer service on December 24th about the item and they said the item has not been in stock since new sale price was advertised. Approximately 6 months ago I purchased an R-24 Tractor with attachments from Rural King in Maysville, Ky. Since that time the equipment was in the shop recently for over a month at The Rural King in Portsmouth, Ohio (New Boston), My biggest complaints are the equipment has very slow hydraulic system. the scoop bucket is warped, not near enough power. too narrow and light for my work, does not perform as advertised. I asked the bank to let me out of the deal and they said no. I asked Rural King to take it back again no. I want them to take back this lemon and refund me so I can pay the bank and keep my credit. This is not what I expected when I purchased it. I do not have a use for such a weak tractor. I want to give it back because I am dissatisfied with the overall weaknesses.

Rural King is empathetic to Mr. ****’s complaints, but this is not a ****er where the tractor possesses defects in assembly or manufacturing. Mr. ****’s expectations of the tractor’s capacity were not properly aligned with the vehicle’s actual mechanical specifications. The design and technology of these tractors allow Rural King’s sub-compact line to outperform tractors of similar size and at a price point well below much of the competition, and from a retailer you can trust, which makes it a very attractive tractor to many consumers. A 24HP tractor can do some great things, but it just isn’t the right tool for the biggest jobs. This is why Rural King sells progressively bigger tractors. The tractor’s capacity information is clearly present and available in Rural King’s advertising, manuals, warranty, and by physically inspecting the vehicle. The full capacity of this tractor was presented to Mr. **** and if he had any specific questions, the answers were readily available. Rural King is dedicated to its customers’ satisfaction, but Mr. ****’s request for a refund is unreasonable, given these circumstances.Customer Answer

I ordered 2 treestand umbrellas on December 1st and didn't hear from rural king for 2 weeks so I started enquiring about the order and I was told it came in as fraud but still no one contacted me so once I spoke with them they said that they would send out the order or cancel it and give a refund, I wouldn't have ordered it if I wanted a refund, so then I reordered the same items and a couple days later they canceled my order again so after 3 weeks I have no umbrellas.Initial Complaint

I have contacted rural king in regards to unsafe conditions outside of the store building of the rural king in Martinsville, IN. Parking lot lights need to be worked on especially on the back end of the store near the corner of bills boulevard and Orange Street. The big rural king bill board sign is even out. The half a dozen lights directly behind the store need repaired because they are all out. They put new ones on the side of the building above the receiving doors but the ones on the back need attention as well. I had also asked if rural king would fix the lights but also cut the the 3 or 4 pine trees behind the store. My neighbors have also been requesting all this to be fixed to help with some crime going on around the area. We’ve also have seen people climbing over the gate in the parking lot corner getting stuff out of there. Please fix the issues asap!Business Response

They have fixed the lights on the building but have not fixed the parking lot lights on the poles. Several poles are not working especially in the back lot by the dock. The big rural king sign also remains dark with no lights in the back parking lot.

Transaction Date: 11/04/2023 Purchased a Savage Rifle in 350 Legend from RK Guns advertised sale dated: 11/04/2023 Order # ********* RK Guns advertised the gun as in-stock and available with a **** day processing time. They also stated on their site that it may take an additional **** days to process certain orders. They do not tell you these are working days. Regardless, they are well past 20 working days to process my order and they still have not shipped the product I ordered on 11/04/2023.Additionally, RK Guns is advertising products as in-stock that they do not physically have in stock. My last email from RK Guns on 12/05/2023, stated that they could not give me an update on my order until they get an update from their supplier. Their website claiming a **** day processing time is a lie. They are taking orders for product they don't have available and lying to the consumers by telling them the items are in stock and available. I was also told by RK's customer service rep ******* that I could not cancel my order or get my money back because they told me about the **** processing time on their website. I was contacted by Rural King the morning of *****, they left a message saying that a gun was recently applied for and approved to be bought by me. I havent been in the store in over a month and I explained that to the attendant, who then told me your information has been stolen.My information was not stolen, but they told me that, causing me to freeze many bank accounts, lose work, and much emotional distress. After speaking with a police officer who was able to resolve the matter, I went to the Manager of Rural King to explain my grievances, and the manager told me to f*** off. They cause me to lose work, time, freeze money, and extreme emotional distress, and when confronted about it, they told me to f*** off.Business Response

I received an advertisement via email, offering a free folding stock with the purchase of a particular crossbow. The verbiage in the email was "Buy this... Get this.. FREE". I ordered the crossbow on 10/9/2023 and it arrived on 11/4/2023. No stock was included. I attempted multiple times to contact customer service through their web site at ******************************************** but the form always says 'unable to send message. please try again later.' and throws away my comments. I called customer service at ************ and explained the situation. 1st CSR named ******* said I probably had to add both items to the cart before checking out. I explained to her that I had tried that and gone through the checkout process up to but excluding paying, but the cost was an additional $179.99. I re-read the promo email and saw no mention of needing to add both items to the cart; rather, it said 'BUY THIS' next to a photo of the bow, and 'GET THIS' next to a photo of the stock, followed by the large red word 'FREE' and '$179.99 VALUE'. No mention of additional terms or promo info could be found in the email or the product page. So I checked out, expecting to receive the promotional combo. I only received the bow.I suggested to ******* that RK could either send me the stock, refund me the price of the stock, or set up an RMA for me to return the bow for a full refund. ******* said they do not accept returns on bows & that I had agreed to such terms at check-out. This is not true. The only terms I agreed to in the checkout process were ******************************************** and ****************************************** which make NO mention of bows.She could not help so I told her to escalate.She transferred me to her supervisor, ******, who stated the same things as *******, and I repeated my explanation to her. She did not offer any resolution other than to say she will look into it and someone may email me about it this coming week.This feels like a bait and switch trap & no way out. What a deceitful practice -- you cannot state one set of terms and then claim, as you did twice during our phone calls and once in your recent response, that I, the customer, agreed to a completely different set of terms.I purchased the product on rkguns.com, NOT ruralking.com. The terms I accepted (attached) were on rkguns.com. They do not even reference rurallking.com.
The missing item has been received, but:
1. the misinformation (regarding terms which the customer allegedly agreed to but which were never presented to the customer) repeatedly provided to me by ******************** customer service has not been corrected. (The images of the rkguns terms were attached to this complaint when I initially made it.)
2. The procedure for purchasing a sale 'combo' or 'bundle' of items is nowhere to be found in their marketing email or on their web site. Yet they repeatedly tell me how I SHOULD have purchased the items, event though I attempted to do so as they described and their site did not allow it. Blaming the customer for 'doing it wrong' is convenient, but I am an IT professional who builds such sites, (for the past 25 years) so I'm not particularly error-prone when it comes to their use. I believe that they failed to configure the two products (bow and stock adapter) to work as a bundle on their website, which is why the discounted price was not reflected at the end of the checkout process. The website has multiple problems beyond that, and needs rework. I'd be happy to help with that if needed. For example:
a. the *** request form creates multiple entries per product, requests multiple reasons for return, and has confusing formatting issues.
b. The contact us form fails to submit and then deletes all of your comments.
c. On the order details page, the 'invoice' button does not work; instead, it opens a page with nothing but a short piece of broken HTML containing an error message. (see attached) If their website is poorly maintained, how secure is my data? (At least no one can see my invoice. Not even me.)
I obviously LIKE this business, because I've spent $4000 at RK Guns, and I've spent at least as much at Rural King.
BUT...
Until they fix their terms and stop telling customers they agreed to terms that they did not, I cannot risk doing business with them again, and would not recommend them to anyone else.
And until they fix the concerning problems with their website, I'll at least be apprehensive in using it or recommending it to others.
So at this point, the complaint is partially resolved.
