Unjustified Account Closure and ********************* I am filing this complaint against Discover Card due to their recent unjustified closure of my secured credit card account and their subsequent poor customer service. On August 16, 2024, I received a letter from Discover stating that my account had been closed because they were "unable to verify personal information." This is completely unacceptable, as I provided all necessary documentation during the application process. If there were any issues, Discover should have communicated them directly to me and allowed for clarification, not abruptly closing my account without warning. This was my first secured credit card, and the instructions and processes were not entirely clear. This lack of clarity on Discover's part should not result in the closure of my account and a negative impact on my credit history.I have attempted to resolve this issue with Discover's customer service, but they have been unhelpful and unresponsive. I demand that Discover immediately reopen my account and provide a detailed explanation for this mistake. I also expect a formal apology for the inconvenience and stress this has caused.I believe Discover's actions are unfair and unjust. I urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate this matter and help me achieve a satisfactory resolution.

Follow up as promised; we took our business to a competitor. Their value was higher than we expected, and their process was much simpler.
We were loyal but no more. We will not be back to Discover and will look to close our $30k Credit Card account with you very soon as well. Please permanently remove our property address and our email address from your marketing lists.
      Thank you,

      Formal Complaint:
Your appraisal department is incompetent, and your Request for Consideration of Value process has very little customer advocacy, ownership, or common sense. It would have been appreciated to have a manager take the time, do some research, use some common sense, and show some care for our concern.
We opened Home Equity Loan ... supported by a 5/2022 appraised value = $1,747,700.
We applied for a Home Equity Loan refinance (App ...) supported by a 4/2024 appraised value = $1,500,000.
      Your 4/2024 ValueSure AVM Market Value = $1,964,200 (Low = $1,787,422 – High = $2,140,978.)
It makes zero common sense for your appraisal department or vendor to negatively represent our home value by decreasing the value of roughly $250k less than your own appraised value 2 years ago and also, roughly $450k less than your very own automated mid-point value 2 months ago, not to mention the $300k we’ve spent remodeling the inside of the house over the last couple years.
Unless this value issue can be resolved and the loan request be funded, we will take our small piece of business to a competitor.
Thank you in advance for your time,

I changed my phone number. I called Discover to update it. The person did update it, but after 3 days I still couldn't log into the app or the website. Called back. Waited on hold for about a half an hour. Got transferred around. They said the new number was being "suppressed" by their security system. I asked why. They basically said they couldn't tell me, that I would just have to wait. I asked how long. The first person told me 24 hours. The next person had no idea. The security person first said 24 hours and when I said it had been 3 days, they said "oh well maybe a couple more business days". I verified all of my information. What, exactly, does their security system need to do for an entire WEEK? This is my bank account. I have no idea if my new job has deposited my first paycheck, or what my balance might be, or anything. Absolutely appalling. I'm closing this account.

They wont help you dispute a charge. They will let shady companies take your money. Not a loyal or trustworthy credit card.

Worst bank ever. Deserves 0 star. I withdrew funds from my Discover 12 month CD account ONE day prior to its mature date, due to the fact that the mature date falls on a Saturday. This bank charged 6 months of interest as penalty for this one day early withdraw. Sent message to the bank and they replied, "we would improve in the future...". Pure greed and indifference towards its client. Such business should face harsh penalty for abuse its client.

Worst bank ever. I have never had so many problems with any other bank in my life. And was lied to over and over. Find another bank. It only took me a month to realize how horrible they are.

I opened a secured credit card with discover in December of 2021 to improve my credit and put a $300 deposit down. I had several charge offs on my credit report with negative balances owed, which I all settled up as of march 2024 to reflect a 0.0 balance on all charge offs. All my accounts are in good standing and I have not missed any payments. I called discover to inquire about my deposit and they told me something on my report could be preventing my from graduating their program. I explained that all my credit problems have been settled and all accounts are in good standing, but the representative and supervisor could not give me a timeframe or even the exact criteria for graduating their program. Last night discover attempted a soft check on my credit report and I received an identity defense alert as my credit file is locked for security reasons. I called discover to inquire and they told me that they could not tell me why their own company had checked my credit report. Discover is giving me the runaround and their own employees give the impression that they think their rules and loose terms are absurd and hard to follow. Please never open a secured credit card with this company as you will not get your deposit back.

I would have given them a 5 star rating but they just did a bate and switch with me. They offered me a balance+ benefit in July and unenrolled me in August. Reason they said was I need to have it least 2 months of prior direct deposits which I have been getting for the last 5 years with Discover ( Social Security). The problem is that sometime Discover will deposit it in my account a few days before the 1rst of the month which then looks like I didn't get a deposit for that month in other word if they deposit it on May 30 for **** it doesn't count for ****'s deposit. Its a service that Discover offers but then penalize you for accepting it. They say I was unenrolled in the balance+ because I didn't get a deposit for that month which I did they just deposit it in my account early before the 1st of that month. I told them that something they do not something that I have control. Its just ridiculous and not something they thought through. It needs to bed fixed before I got some ware else fir my online banking
