Company kept calling and harassing me and my husband. They say I owe money for a loan. And yes I know they say they purchased this debt. However this debt is not mine and the confirmation they have sent me is not even a validation of the debt. I've asked for proof but what they sent is clearly not proof. I sent a certified letting asking for debt validation and they haven't picked it up. I'd like this complaint to be a warning to others. I am planning on looking into other methods of reporting this company. Please make sure to always validate your debts.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: *********** is not reading the information or the attachment provided. They are not picking up any certified mail and are not validating the debt. The email they send me does not have the required information to validate the debt which is the following:
Verification of the debt amount claimed, including a detailed breakdown of how this amount was calculated.
Documentation proving that Aqarion Asset Management is authorized to collect this debt on behalf of EZ ********** Services.
Verification of the original creditor, EZ ********** Services, including the address and contact information.
Any agreements or contracts signed by me pertaining to this debt.
Proof that the statute of limitations on this debt has not expired.
Any other relevant documentation that validates the existence and validity of this debt.
I will not be calling nor confirming this debt until the validation is responded to. I'll also be reporting this to other protection bureaus. Thanks.Business Response

I continue to get calls from Aquarion Management about a debt. I have previously informed them that they are to contact me only by mail and to provide the proof of debt. Every time I speak to them and ask this, they hang up on me. I have also sent them a certified mail 3 months ago, which was never picked up.I have never taken a payday loan in my life. No money was ever deposited into my bank account.Business Response

I found your agency on BBB website, but I am trying to reach AQRN LOC SVCS company, so if that is you, please read on. AQRN has been calling me nonstop for several months now, but there's no one to speak to on the other line. It's all automated and I have no means to know if this is legit or not. If you are AQRN LOC SVCS, then please call my attorney at ************. They will handle any and all recovery companies on my behalf, so please stop calling me. Thank you.Customer Answer

Hi, AQRN LOC SVCS keeps calling me and when I do a ****** search, they come up right next to Aquarion Asset Management company in the search results. They keep using different phone numbers from different states each time they call so it's hard to keep track of who is who. I tried answering, but it has a voice recording, and there's no way to talk to a live person. I tried calling the numbers on my phone directly, the same thing again. It could be a big scam, but I want to get to the bottom of this. I have no other information than this. What you see on ****** search is all there is.Business Response

This company contacted me on my cell phone asked for my full name but then provided an incorrect ssn - I am clearly concerned about identity theft and even more so after they would not provide their company name or location, would not tell me at all what this is regarding. I attempted to gather this information numerous times and all employees refused to give me details leading me to believe they are a part of the scam and need to be reported.Business Response

I first spoke with a representative from Aquarian Asset Management, LLC on March 13, 2024. "********" somehow knew a lot of my personal information. I do know that my PII has been leaked through several data breaches over the years. She said that I took out a pay day loan in March 2012, for $690.00, but they are willing to settle for a little less than that. She said the creditor sent me letters, but I never received any mail regarding an unpaid pay day loan. I told her that I do not recall obtaining a pay day loan during that time. I asked to receive proof in writing. She then sends me a text that contains a link. I am not clicking on that link, for it may contain a "back door" to access other information on my phone. I did some research and found that multiple people are also having very similar issues with the same company. I replied with a text, asking for the original creditor to send me proof in the mail, in the event someone may have applied for a pay day loan in my name, without my knowledge. "********" left a voicemail from a different number this morning, threatening to notify HR. They are asking for "paid in full" documentation. How can I provide that documentation if I do not have written proof that the loan even exists? I am asking for the original creditor to send me proof that the loan exists, via mail. If that cannot be obtained, I want this company to remove my name and number from their contact list.Business Response

I received a call yesterday from Aquarion stating I owed a debt from EZ Money that I took out in 2011. When I asked the man who the original lender was, they weren't able to give me the information. He advised that it would cost me over $2000 for court fees because it was their last attempt to collect this debt before going to court. I asked to speak with a supervisor (********) who informed me that they didn't have the original lender since companies change names but not the account number. With interest, my debt was for $900 but they would settle for the original amount of $388. Since they had all my previous addresses & last four of my bank account, I didn't want this following me so I paid it. Now I'm questioning this because of all the people who were told the same thing.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: you were unable to give me accurate information as to whom the creditor was. Also, you stated that I have received notices but I have not been receiving notices for the past ********************************************* 2011. Also, the banking info you supplied is the same checking account that i still use presently. Most companies will submit payment a second time if there were "insufficient funds". Ive also had the same phone number for all these years.Lastly, it has NEVER shown on my credit report since I check this report weekly and ******** stated that it wouldnt....why?? I contacted my bank since I was alerted from them that it could be a fraudulent charge & they stated that it all sounded odd. I would like my money refunded and you can bring me to court since that's the location that I work. It's also funny that I called 3 times yesterday from my work number (courthouse) and nobody would answer when I was transferred. When I spoke with ********, she stated that she saw it was from a courthouse the 1st timebi was transferred.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
You were not able to supply me with who the creditor actually was. I insisted to each associate that I spoke with that I DID NOT borrow any money from "Ez cash". Also, this account is over 13 years old AND it never showed on my credit report. Also, I have the same bank account now that I did back then...most places would have submitted a withdrawal from my account if it was insufficient the 1st time. Without this company giving me sufficient information, I feel I'm being wrongfully charged & think it was a scam.Initial Complaint

Had a call 3/11/24 from acqurion assest management called from ************, automated call line. Said my name , that I owed a debt with a company, they had tried to be in touch with me several times. They as in ***** collections. And if I did not get in touch they would take action. Which I took it as a legal threat.I called them back. At first he said it was a 3000 debt with *****'s . And that I would be served by a server in my county . I told him I have never did business with *****'s . A couple of times he called me ********************. And asked if I would dispute it. I said yeah I will. Then he said.... I'm so sorry. I got the accounts mixed up. That it was a 865 dollar pay day loan with ez money loan. In March of 2013. That it was deposited in a SunTrust account. Then , when it was time to pay it back the account had been closed. He had so many correct things about me. My email, my home address, I did use to use suntrust for a time. Though he did say. The money was deposited in that SunTrust account... Which , how would they know. Those payday loans deals in cash. He said that ***** had emailed me several times. I checked while he was on speaker phone. I had no emails from *****. Then he said, it probably just doesn't go back that far.He knew so much about me. But didn't know I was retired on disability. And I did do a payday loan before when I was in a financial bind. But never with ez money. And surely never 865. He said it could be settled for 500. And I could pay 50 to stop any further action. I told him I will not put my info over the phone like that without looking into it. He said his name is ***********************,his contact number is ********************. He did send me a file that supposedly explains the debt. I attached. Oddly, not signed. But this is the number he texted me from **************.I have looked at my credit report. There's nothing there that names either *****, ez money loan or acqurion assest management. I feel like I've been prayed upon.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I see no reason to respond to a debt I do not owe. I believe this was an attempt to obtain money illegally. Reading many reviews of this company I have found the similarities to be more than a coencident. I believe they have received my personal information in a highly questionable way. And used my past financial problems as leverage to help in their quest to make it believable. I know of no company named EZ money loan services. Nor a collection company named *****. By which Mr. *********************** stated that they had tried numerous times to contact me via email. Which in a search of my address found no such company's request on this matter. I'm on disability for a medical reason. It affects my nervous system as part of the symptoms of my condition. The call I received on the 11th has caused it to flare. And now I'm in an episode. Therefore I am unable to call and talk to anyone. If they wish to continue this shameful display of their choice of receiving money. They should send hard copies via mail. Hard copies of all proof. From original debt. For whom they say they are acting for.Business Response

I have received repeated calls telling me that I owe them money from a payday loan. I told them I have no memory of this debt and they promised to provide documentation but they have not provided me with any details. They will only tell me that I owe them $897. They referenced a NJ bank account that I have not used since Sept 2006 - and an CA address where I lived from May 2007 - 2017. So the bank and address don't even align. After the 1st phone call I did some research and found that for contract loans the statue of limitations is 4 years in CA and 3 years in ** (where I have been living for the past 7 years) - so I know they can't *** me even though they threaten to. I have moved 4 times since 2006 and this has never come up in any mortgage application process. I don't believe I ever owed the company they claim to represent - Easy Money Pay Svcs/Payday Loan. But that doesn't stop them from threatening my credit rating. This company needs to be shut down. It is pretty apparent from the other reviews of this company that they are scammers - so why isn't BBB going after them?Business Response

I've been contacted by Aquarion Asset Managment twice in the last week. First contact was 02/14/24 from 754 area code. The automated prompt stated my name and to wait on the line as this was an attempt to collect a debt. The call was transferred to a case manager named "******" and I was told that I had an outstanding payday loan from 2015 that was tied to a bank account in ******** that I had closed in 2012 when I moved to *******. ****** was able to recite the last four of my SSN and had information about the closed bank account that she should not have otherwise had. She said the loan was from a place called Quickcash. Alarmingly though, she also had my CURRENT phone number and mailing address, which would have not been available in 2015 when the alleged loan was originated (first red flag). She said that I would have received a mailing from the creditor in November 2023 as a last attempt to collect before the loan was given to Aquarion for collection. I have not received any such piece of mail.Yesterday, 02/19/24, I was contacted by Aquarion from a 407 area code and a collector by the name of "*********************" attempted to collect on the same loan. But this time, he said that the loan was originated on 3/30/12 at an establishment called EZ Money Loan. It was for the exact same original amount of $470.00. Both calls have attempted to collect on an "outstanding" $931.00 debt but are willing to settle for 70%, or a payment of $652.00.. When I ask for the direct contact information of the original creditor, I am told to "please hold" at which time the call is placed on a 2-5 minute hold and then dropped. I've researched the two different companies said to have originated a loan in my name. One is no longer in business, the other does not seem to be legit. When I called back and told the rep that I believe this call is fraudulent, she got belligerent and told me to simply end the call, then she hung up on me. This reeks of scam artistry.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: the response contradicts what was told to me in the initial call on 02/14/24. This response suggests that Aquarion Asset Management has already fully acquired the "debt", however in my very first interaction with this company, I was informed that if I claim fraud, they would notify the creditor and a burden of proof falls back on them to prove legitimacy of the loan. That would suggests that Aquarion Asset Management had not fully verified any "debt" and DOES NOT have full control of any "debt" if it is still able to be mediated between a creditor. I have never been presented with any proof that this "debt" exists, or any certified mailings that ANY debt of ANY nature is being sent to collectionsBusiness Response

Ive checked my credit report and there is nothing listed on it. Theres no payday loan on my credit report. Theyre threatening with garnishment and jail time They are extremely rude and unprofessional. This is not how real debt collectors or asset management companies operate.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I have received nothing in writing, via mail, from this agency or any alleged payday loan company. When written notice is sent to me, along with proof of me having taken the loan and received the money (ACH transfers, bank statements, etc), I will address any alleged outstanding debt. However, there is nothing listed on my credit report as having any unpaid loans, to date. And until I receive written, mailed, notice of this, in accordance with the law, I will not take these calls. If the calls continue, I will be filing a police report for harassment.

I am rejecting this response because:
That was basically the same response that was sent before. Ive consulted with an attorney, who did research and confirmed there is no delinquent payday loan on my credit report. Theyve instructed me not to have any communication with this debt collector, until the agency sends me paperwork in writing and files the appropriate court documents.
