I own a business within the city limits of **********, **. We are required to use GFL Environmental for our trash removal services. I have requested a single bin to be delivered to my location - 5 weeks ago! I follow up with the city weekly to say "still no bin was delivered" on Fridays, since I was told it would be delivered on Thursday. Today I went to the city of ********** in person and again let them know I have no way of disposing of my trash. They said I was the 5th person today (and it was only 10am) that had complained. 5 weeks - now it will be 6! This is not okay. *** has a monopoly on the area and the customers are suffering. I will be going to the news station if this is not resolved by the end of day Monday. We just want our service and it would be nice to have a credit for our frustration and other options we have had to self figure out to remove trash from our businesses.Business Response

I previously filed complaint ********. That complaint has been closed as the business says they were researching the issue on 5/20/2025. That was two weeks ago and I have not heard a response from their research. They did send me an email that apologized, but the questions and clarifications I requested in my original complaint have not been addressed.Initial Complaint

*** and Peoria have refused to respond when contacted multiple times about a failed trash pick up. Our normal pick up is on Tuesdays, with the holiday we were expected to have a Wednesday pick up. On Wednesday when the trash wasn't picked up I completed the online notice form and received an email back telling to to inform them again the next day if it wasn't resolved. I submitted the form again on Thursday when the trash wasn't picked up and responded to the email. Now it is Friday. The garbage still isn't picked up and I submitted another online notice and response to the email I had originally received. I have had to deal with this multiple times in the past because my location is one of the only addresses on the street and not on the alley as we dont have alley access. We are forgotten at least once every couple months. When I have dealt with *** in the past on this I have been met with professional rudeness. Being told that if I fail to notify them within a certain time frame then they won't pick up my garbage that week. If this wasn't a service that was provided through the city via our property taxes I would be demanding my money back and changing services. They have a monopoly hold on the area's services and do not respond to their customers when they fail to uphold their end of the agreement. I am seeking, first for my garbage to be collected, as agreed upon. Second, for a change in their company policies and a reprimand to their customer ******************** for not responding to customer issues in a timely manner. And thirdly for a stance to be taken that the city cannot demand I must use this service and spend our tax dollars on it when we do not get the agreed upon services.Business Response

These people when we first got set up with them with the city of ****** failed to deliver services for three weeks then when I had tocall them to get them to come the trash man was so angry because it wasnt his route. He threw my sons brand new bicycle thatI just got him for his birthday in the trash compactor. Then I called to let them know what happened and they had referred to me my house was older as a Dope head and was discriminating when I worked for probation and parole in the state of ********, and this was from the city clerk this was stated . It is continued to be an issue with services. We have to call them continually to come get our trash picked up when they forget or dont want to.! They are rude when you call and like I said, they made ex explicit and rude, discriminating comments to the city clerk of Sparta about me. What does it make a difference? What I do or what I am as far as them picking up trash or throwing my sons brand new bike in the trash compactor and like I said, never done drugs in my entire life work for probation and parole been in law-enforcement for 10 years and I do not appreciate the discriminating comments.!Business Response

This is about GFL Environmental my local residential trash collecting service. They have not picked up my trash for several weeks. I have used them for years at the same address and never had this issue until recently. My next door neighbor also uses them for trash collection and is having the same issues. They simply won't pick up the trash. I am not behind on any bills with them. I have called their office repeatedly and have repeatedly been told they will do something and they haven't. Nothing gets done and the trash keeps piling up. I have put disgusting, damp trash bags in the trunk of my car and find dumpsters to drop them off in before work because there is no room left in their container. Please help us with this. I simply want my trash picked up from this large corporation. I see their trucks in other places so I don't know why they can't send any here.Business Response

We cancelled our service with GFL for lack of performance (no trash pickup for two weeks after 4 phone calls to the office). We (my wife and I) requested to speak with management twice, but they were not available and hasn't returned calls after 3 weeks. We have been using GFL environmental for over 10 years for our garbage and recycling. Until this year, we never had any problems. I paid our last bill on March 7 and since then out of 10 pick up dates, 6 dates the recycling was not picked up and 1 they did not get our garbage. Initially, after each missed pick up, I would call customer service. Ask if they knew of a problem. Ask that it be documented, and ask for a resolution. Often times I was told they would come out that week to pick it up. Which they never did. And its not just my garbage, its the garbage and recycling of our entire street.This last time I called, someone named **** was completely unhelpful, told me that he was not able to help us because he just took the phone call.Business Response

I have been a GFL customer for years with autopay scheduled an no issues. Sometime in 2025 they changed their online system which seems to have broken autopay. There was no communication that I can find from GFL to me indicating that i would need to reset autopay. After the due date of the last invoice (**********) there was no communication that autopay failed. I did not receive any communication until i received a letter in my mailbox on 5/8/25 that i was past due. I paid the bill same day with a confirmation on 5/8/25 (#************), and I reset my autopay in the new system.On 5/17/25 I received a letter from *** saying I have been turned over to collections. The letter is dated 5/10/25 and says that as of 5/9/25 (after my payment confirmation number) I owe $208.60. Again, I received no communication from ***. I paid within hours of the first communication I received from them on 5/8/25. This is an error in their system that they did not communicate to me. They did not provide any communication that I needed to reset autopay or that my autopay failed. They did not communicate that i was past due. They turned me over to collections before providing any communication or chance to resolve. Their collection notice was inaccurate and showed a debt that had already been paid. I'm deeply concerned with their online portal and issues that it may create. In addition to this issue the portal also now shows a previous address as having an active account under my name. These are new issues that seem related to a system update on their end. I am concerned that they do not communicate when there is an issue including when its on their end. I am concerned that the debt collection will be reported to a credit agency despite having wrong information and being caused by their system error. I am having to spend time dealing with something that should be autopay.Business Response

We moved from ********************************************************************************** on 20 March 2025. At that time I cancelled our services and asked that the trash bins be removed, as the new owners are using another company.They did not pick up the bins, so I called them last week and they informed me that it was scheduled. I stated 6 weeks seemed too long. I was told by their employee that she would check with dispatch and ask them to remove their ******* of today, 12 May 2025 they have not removed the bins, I and the new owners are tired of their lack of customer service and professionalism.Please help us solve this problem. GFL Douglasville Branch 95 is taking our money but not picking up the trash. Its been over a month since the trash was picked up on our scheduled day. GFL services our entire neighborhood. So trash was piled up and stinking and drawing rodents for over 3 weeks. The *** and individuals called DAILY to report this. Every day we were told they would send a truck to pick it up. They continue to lie. Nothing has been done to insure we are getting service that we pay for. All in ************************ manages our ***. They continue to take our money and we are paying for service that they are not delivering. This is ILLEGAL. And they are doing nothing to fix this issue.
