I bought some solar panels for a house I own in ******* (where a family membr lives) in December 2021 from Momentum Solar who charged me $53,295. This was very much higher than I wanted to spend - and I could not remember agreeing to such a high price. The purchase was financed with a loan agreement with them.Because I had concerns that remained about such a high cost, I recently asked for a copy of the contract. They then sent me a copy of the contract but the copy of the contract that they sent me had (1) an incorrect home telephone number for me (2) an email address that has nothing to do with me and (3) what was purported to be my signature and also my initials pasted into other pages in the contract - but I was not the person who put them there. So, as far as I can tell, someone from Momentum Solar must have signed fraudulently my name. Momentum Solar gave an email address for me to *********** (the local electricity utility) that has nothing to do with me. As a result, I did not receive the emails needed to complete the installation from *********** (the local electricity company). This resulted in about a seven month delay in the panels becoming operational and I had some very large electricity bills in the period - as high as $576 for **** 2022.Can BBB assist me in getting Momentum Energy to (1) remove and take back the solar panels;(2) cancel the loan;(3) repair any damage to the roof (such as holes in the roof) after the panels are removed; and (4) compensate me for the excessively high electricity bills as they increased from January to August 2022 Thank you ************Business Response

THE WORST FINANCIAL HEADACHE EVER!! - Solar Panels I have remodeled my entire house. nothing has been a worse experience than dealing with Momentom solar. The sales people will lie to you and promise you things that never make in on the contract. On 4/25/22. my panels finally went up, and since then Ive been paying 2 payments. A payment for the solar panels and FULL ELECTRIC BILL. Today is 10/12/2022 Momentum still is unable to connect them to the city power. THE WORST COMPANY EVER. I have called. emailed and have detailed records, If a ******* attorney is reading this. feel free to contact me. I would love to know what my options are. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they billed me for everything and then walked away without connecting the panels. They were suppose to save me money on my electric bill. No savings, I have been paying 2 full bills since April. I never complain. but I reached out to them in September 2021 to begin my Solar process which is still Incomplete.Also. they said they "lost my phone number" when I have been in constant contact with them. Their sales associate never returns your calls or text after they have been paid, actually. NO one does, you have to call or email them, they will never reach out to you first, unless its about getting money or renewing a permit so they don't loose the job. I called to speak to a manager and they are useless. Never can give me an answer to what is happening or who is working on it.Business Response

They sold me a system with all the panels facing south. On the pretense that I would save money and have lower energy cost. They did a bunch of math and told me that the system even though designed to produce 80% of my energy needs was over engineered and would cover more than that. All I would pay the electric company is the minimum payment they could charge. In instillation day they installed half the panels facing north and told me they would produce the same energy as if they were facing north. And if they did not. They would fix it. Fast forward to today. The panels don't cover my energy needs and I am paying about $100 a month more for energy than I was before solar. So essentially if they don't move the solar panels or install more to offset the loss of production for being installed on the wrong side of my house. I will be out almost $100k by the time the solar has been paid off.False statements and lies during the sales meeting and the system not producing what I was promised. It would work for them to put up about ***** more panels on a rack in the front yard to offset production loss. I have been trying to get this problem resolved for 5+ months. I have been told everything from *we will fix the problem...the vice president is aware of the issue" to "we can't do anything to fix this at our expense " I have also been flat out ignored most of the time. Momentum spoke with **************** and discussed the installation process and the reasons as to why panels were installed on different parts on the roof. We explained that our engineers reviewed the the southern portion of the structure that **************** was referencing, and determined that we were not able to install on that side of the roof. Purchased a solar system from Momentum Solar in February 2022. Was told by the salesman that the system would be installed and power would be changed over before the first payment, well it is now October I've started making payments to both the power company and to Solar Key financing. This was not part of the deal! I was never told about the insurance policy change until I was wondering what was taking so long. I then gave them a call and was then told about the insurance increase to my policy, made the changes to my home owners policy and they are still giving me the run around. I just want what I paid for. I am a retired disabled Vet that lives on a budget and I did not sign up to pay for a system that I am not using. I've been calling over and over and Momentum told me to call Solar Key and they explained that its Momentum and there's nothing they can do. Unfortunately, ************* is behind in meter change-outs and Momentum is working with them to get updates periodically. I hired Momentum solar to put a new roof on my house after storm damages in March. They removed my panels Aug 1st, placed the new roof Aug 10th & 11th. When I reached out to the roofing sales person, he said it could take up to 3 months because they are short handed & having to pull installers off new installs to do these jobs. I was scheduled to have panels reinstalled on Sept. 27th, the crew never showed & no one called to advise me they weren't coming or why. The 28th, I called customer service & was told they would be here Oct. 6th. When they were a no show again on the 6th, I spoke to the customer service supervisor who said they had planned to come on Oct 6th but it was never confirmed. The reason she gave me was, " they were planning to come if they were able to hire new installers." The lady in customer service said she would call me back with an update before the end of the day, but I never heard from her. I'm very dissatisfied with the level of customer service I've received from Momentum. In my opinion, current customers should be a priority over new customers. How can a company provide excellent customer service to all when they are unable to take care of the needs of current customers? I purchased these panels in 2020 at the cost of $30K to help offset energy costs & that's not happening with the panels being uninstalled & on the ground. Yet my payments continue as well as now having an electric bill to pay. I paid them 23K for the roof which included $9000 to remove & reinstall the panels. My warranty with momentum solar is null if I have someone else reset the panels which is why I chose to use them for the roof as well. My hands are tied as I wait for them to provide me with a solid date for reinstall. I'm reaching out to you to complain about the lack of customer service from the solar panel department. I'm tired of being ignored & pushed back while they continue installing new customers & dragging my reinstall out. Please help.Business Response

After very high-pressure sales pitch, signed contract with Momentum solar on 7/23/22 (Sat). I didn't believe the proposal included enough power generation and brought this up to salesman twice, who assured me it did. Had another solar company review proposal and they also agreed it was not enough. 7/25/22(monday) called Momentum at provided phone # and cancelled contract, also emailed them notice of cancellation and sent registered letter with return receipt notifying them of cancellation dated 7/27/22 (3rd business day). Heard nothing for 3-4 weeks until a "project manager" called and said that he had seen where I had cancelled and what could he do to get me to go ahead with project. I told him I wasn't interested in having them do the project and already had another solar company complete the project. Fast forward, 9/30/22, I received a letter from momentum stating that they were taking legal action if I didn't let them complete project. I called # on letter that was signed by *************************, V P legal affairs and talked to ***, I explained that I cancelled this contract by 3 different modes within the 3 days and I was not going to be bullied into paying anything by their predatory methods. He said that he could see where I had cancelled but couldn't verify the date so I would have to send him date stamped proof of cancellation for him to look at. I can retrieve these documents but why should I have to? They admitted to knowing I cancelled and are just hoping that I don't have the proof. I believe this predatory behavior is either purposeful or the company is completely inept or poorly run. Someone needs to stop this behavior, there are numerous similar complaints. Momentum solar is very good at getting your business, but not completing the job or honoring their word. I was so excited about getting solar, but the company has made this process a nightmare. **************** is not very helpful. They just tell what they think you want to hear and honor none of it. My panels have been installed a couple months, however not complete. They have not been powered **. ** the process my HVAC unit was damaged that caused a leak in my ceiling. I kept calling for over a week, customer service just gave me the run around. Until I informed them of my autistic child that was seriously suffering because of the heat. Then I got contacted by all the appropriate people, who told me to get it fixed and I would be reimbursed. After I did just that, I can no longer get in contact with any of these people. So now Im out of pocket for fixing the ***** my ceiling still messed up. Incomplete solar system which I will soon be paying for and not have the use. This company does not keep you in the loop the work is untidy. You dont want to see the state the left my attic in. I sincerely dont understand how they have an A+ with BBB. I even had a couple recommendations for them but sorry I cant put people I care about through this mess. ***** you I know stuff can go wrong, thats business, however the company has a responsibility to address the promptly and amicably. I had my panels installed in May/June of this year. Before I allowed them to install I asked for an * and *. *emove and replace the panels when it comes time to redo the shingles. I told the salesmans that I was retiring in 2 years and selling the house to my son. Everything seemed fine until I thoroughly read what they have written. Im no lawyer but it says the that its not transferable. I looked up that definition and what ** getting is they will not give my son the * and * when I sell the house to them. I was totally upfront with my salesperson ****** at this time. I new what I wanted to help my son in the future and would never sign any paperwork that stated these restrictions. We signed all the paperwork except that. FYI, they fire my salesman after this incident which its not his fault but theres when they throw in words that we didnt understand.Again We didnt sign this paper and want them to write that they will hover the * an * when only my son buys the house.Business Response

Re: Project #MS104503 We contacted Momentum Solar this summer to get some info about & a quote for solar panels. We had no plans for any installation of solar panels from any company at this time but wanted to get an idea of the payments and process and potential savings for a later date.We met with a salesperson ********************* ********************************** on July 17th, 2022, to talk about the financials, and how the process works. He contacted his engineering team and showed us what it would look like. We made it clear to him that we are not committed in any way to continue. He understood but suggested to setup roof inspection appointment to see if we qualify, and while we wait for the appointment, we can cancel the project at any time. The roof inspection appointment was scheduled for August 4, 2022.While we were waiting for the appointment, we deliberated the matter in our family and decided that now is not the best time for us to go ahead with the solar project. On July 28th, 2022, I wrote email to ***** with the request to terminate the project and cancel the roof inspection. I also sent email to the site inspection team notifying them that I am cancelling the appointment. Within a few days of notifying Momentum that we are canceling our project, I got a phone call from a project manager, who tried to convince me to continue with the project, but I politely declined the offer. Then, several days ago, we got a certified letter dated from September 21, 2022, and signed by ****************************, VP of Legal Affairs. The letter was claiming that we did not cancel out contract and Momentum Solar incurred costs for materials, labor and services on our project?! The letter was threatening us that they will seek recovery of the incurred costs via lien, civil action or other legal remedy in case if we decide not to move forward with the project.We want Momentum to cancel our contract, whatever it means for them, and stop harassing us.
