Domain Networks is well-known for sending out what they label as "offers for domain directory listings", but it is designed to look like an invoice fooling the recipient into thinking they are paying for existing domain hosting services. They even include the domain hosting company's name, which make you think that's who you are paying, and they write in large, bolded font, "WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS!" further implying that there is an existing business relationship.

Shame on me for not realizing I was being scammed. This company is on the radar of many state Attorney General and Consumer Affairs radar, and it is shameful they are able to keep this going as long as they have.

I know they will reply to this complaint that the invoice "clearly states..." etc. It's complete bull. Nothing could be further from the truth. BBB's F rating of this business is all you need to know.

This payment was from 2022, you did spend a year in our directory and that is our business, despite what the internet likes to say we are not a scam. With that being said as you clearly did not understand what you were paying for, I have refunded the payment and will mail your refund check to * ********** ** ********* ** **********. I apologize for any confusion.

This company continues to TARGET our Rotary Club. We almost fell for the scam - luckily did not. We continue to receive mail from this company which looks like an invoice. Someone needs to SUE THEM. We do NOT WANT ANY FURTHER MAIL FROMTHIS COMPANY.

This company looks up websites of businesses and sends the businesses unsolicited letters in the mail that are made to look like an invoice. If you only read one side of the mailing, you would have no idea isn't not an invoice you owe. On the opposite side, in small print, they state that this is a website listing offering and you're under no obligation to pay. It's basically a scam to get business who don't read through everything to assume it's an invoice they owe having to do with their website. The company just hopes businesses will pay them without knowing they don't actually owe them any money. It's a very deceptive practice and should be illegal.

Hello, the mailing states, in relevant part: "This website listing offer is provided to leading websites throughout the United States to enhance their website exposure and expose them to new customers through our directory. We are not a domain registrar and we do not Register or Renew Domain Names. The listing period is for 12 consecutive months and must be renewed annually if you wish to maintain your Domain listing and keep it active in our online website directory. THIS IS NOT A BILL. THIS IS A SOLICITATION. YOU ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO PAY THE AMOUNT STATED ABOVE UNLESS YOU ACCEPT THIS OFFER."I hope that this reply will dispel any doubt about the Company’s mailing. With that said, I would be happy to place you on our Do Not Contact list however to do that I need the ID from the mailer that you blacked out, it starts with three letters and follows by numbers.

I am rejecting this response because:

I would like an assurance from them that they are going to cease this shady and deceptive behavior of mailing letters out to random businesses across the country, that are clearly meant to trick the businesses into thinking they are legitimate invoices they owe to keep their website running.

I would like to see fraudulent companies like this to not be allowed to solicit business. This company sends something out that looks like a bill in the hopes that someone unwittingly will pay them $289. Their marketing is deceiving and unethical.

I am rejecting this response because: Marketing solicitations should never look like a bill.  I believe these are deceitful attempts to prey on people who would be less observant as I am to turn the bill to the back side and find your this is not a bill statement.  You purposely try to trick people into thinking it is a bill so that you get a payment for services they did not want.

We received multiple invoices from domainnetworks .com which referenced our actual domain host name asking to "return" payment by July 6th 2023. I eventually paid the bill in August and was notified by my actual domain host in October that we had expired because we didn't pay the bill. After I scrutinized the "invoice" further I realized the deceptive language used immediately called the number listed and left several messages for a refund. My domain expired, unable to re-purchase and had to move find another domain and host. No return calls from these scammers!

I respond to every call that I get; I have never received a voicemail from someone I did not call back, with that being said I have gone ahead and processed your refund, it should be back in your account within a business day or so. I apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.

The company is sending us fake invoices for my domain renewal without my consent. We have our domain registered with *******, We don't need these guys trying to trick us into paying three times the price and swiping the domain registration away from the current provider.

    Business Response

I apologize for the confusion; however, we are NOT a domain holder, we are a directory listing so we would not be swiping anything from anyone. Our mailer was an invite to join our directory listing, I apologize if you did not understand that. I have placed you on our Do Not Contact list.

Domain Networks is the same operator as Domain Listings (both "offers" attached). The companies' purpose is to send out what they label as "offers for domain directory listings", but have designed to look like an invoice for existing domain ownership services. They even write in large, bolded font, "WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS!" Further implying that there is an existing business relationship. For the unsavvy observer, this will mean wasting $289 for something they didn't need or want, and it's not a service worth the cost. You go through their website listing directory and it's full of clearly small, family businesses, churches, and nonprofits. All organizations that tend to have unsavvy bookkeepers, often working part-time for that company while working another job full-time for another company. They don't have time to determine this is a scam and not a real invoice. These fraudsters need to be shut down.

    Better Business Bureau®:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution of our nonprofit organization being removed from the mailing list is going to have to be satisfactory to me. I still feel this business and the obviously related business are fraudsters who should be shut down and punished for their unethical, deceptive business practices, but I recognize that is something the BBB cannot do. I'll look into another manner to request further accountability.

This company continually sends their scam mail demanding payment for a "listing" that provides absolutely no value to the customer. The entire mailing is deceptively designed. I would like this company to cease and desist sending any and all mail to my company's address.
