I inquired about a dumpster rental from Liberty and then quickly realized we would not need one. I promptly called and let the company know that we would not need their services. We never had a dumpster delivered nor did we use their services. To date, I continue to receive harassing emails, phone calls, and text messages that we owe $648. How can someone owe this much money for a product they never received?Initial Complaint

This company quotes you one price, including all "fees", and buried deep in their small print contract in the paragraph about "overweight fees" they mention that you must pay $0.16 per pound of the dump fee. The way it is written in the paragraph makes it seem this fee is if you are overweight, when actually, they are charging you for the full dump weight of the load in addition to the displayed rental fee for the dumpster. No where on their website or in marketing materials does it mention this, and simply shows that the fee is $195. The initial quote/invoice you receive also does not disclose the fee. Two weeks after our load was picked up we received a text stating they were charging us $376.09 for "dump fees" in addition to the quoted contract fee. We've tried contacting via email, phone, text, and even approached the business listed location. Which is a locked warehouse with no public signage or entrance.Business Response

After revieing the call record, this complainant was informed that the dumpster rental cost would be $195 and 15 per pound. In addition, to avoid ambiguity, we sent this complainant a Rental Agreement, disclosing 100% of all fees, IN WRITING. The complainant approved and authorized, as shown on the attachment, the contract. Based on these facts, the complainant's assertions are unfounded.Initial Complaint

We ordered a 15 yard dumpster to be delivered to our residence on 12/11/24. Queen who took our order said she would give us an extra day of rental for free. We were expecting the dumpster to be delivered the morning of 12/11/24 and pick up on 12/13/24. On 12/11/24 we received a text from Liberty office stating the earliest dispatch could pick up the dumpster would be 12/16/24, giving us 2 extra days over the weekend with the dumpster. I confirmed and asked if delivery would be 12/11/24 still, they confirmed yes. The dumpster didn't arrive until 4:15pm on 12/11. We didn't argue as we were told we would have it longer. When we weren't home on Friday 12/ 13/24, the dumpster was picked up at 2pm. We had maybe 100 lbs of garbage in it because we were waiting to fill it over the weekend. When I called to find out why they took it, they said it was an error in their communication and the best they could do is refund my account $60. I wanted the dumpster returned so we could finish the job at our house. The supervisor stated she couldn't do that. The best they can do is a new contract for an additional $200 fee. The text message stating the new p/u date should supersede the contract since they the company sent that to me the customer. Now we are left with a front yard full of garbage that needed to be junked, and it is right before the holidays and I spend $200 on nothing!Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:The text message they sent me stated:Hello, the soonest date that dispatch can remove the dumpster is on 12/16.
They delivered the dumpster at 4:30pm - on day 1 of our contract, that was when the driver completed his drop off. We didnt argue ( that we lost a day of service) because we were told we would have it til the 16th. When they picked it up Friday the 13th at 2pm without any communication that they were coming I called to find out what happened. They said that text was not meant for me and the deal was a deal.In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Liberty Dumpster is a scam. They never verbally mention the .15 per pound charge. Purposely didnt mention it and after reading the reviews I see that it is a predatory practice. After doing that the purposely lied about how much the dumpster weighed and overcharged me. Im so glad that I came on here and saw all these reviews. I think now I will be getting a class action law suit against Liberty Dumpster this is a scam that preys on peopleCustomer Answer

I am formally filing a complaint against Liberty Dumpster Rental for deceptive business practices and unfair billing. My experience has been extremely frustrating, and their actions warrant investigation.I rented a 30-yard dumpster, which was placed on my property in a way that left the back largely empty. I immediately raised this issue with the company, but received no satisfactory response. Additionally, Liberty charged me an unreasonable fee of $0.15 per pound for all weight, despite the dumpster not being overweight and remaining mostly empty in the back. No other company in town would charge such an amount.I planned to hire laborers for $700 but chose to load the dumpster myself with my daughters help, intending to teach her about "sweat equity" while saving on costs. After four hours of work, I was presented with an exorbitant bill. Prior to agreeing to the rental, I asked an employee named ****** about the maximum tonnage the dumpster could hold, but she could not provide a clear answer.Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue through phone calls and emails, my efforts have been ignored, and my emails were returned as undeliverable. I was even threatened with a mechanics lien for not paying the unjustified charges. Moreover, I discovered that Liberty Dumpster Rental has a history of scamming customers, with many negative online reviews pointing to deceptive practices and overcharging, indicating a business model based on misleading and exploiting consumers.Liberty Dumpster Rental is using deceptive marketing, overcharging, and failing to provide transparent communication. I request that the Sedgwick County ************************ investigate and take appropriate action to hold Liberty Dumpster Rental accountable for these unethical practices.Business Response

As shown on the attachment, the complainant agreed and authorized to pay 15 per pound and filled his dumpster up with ****** pounds of debris resulting in landfill fee of $2,604.41, which we paid on behalf of the complainant. We made several attempts, via email and phone, to resolve the complainant's concerns, but the complainant refused to pay the outstanding balance due. The only "scamming" that occurred was the complainant's unwillingness to pay the bill. Finally, our marketing is transparent, and all terms are fully disclosed in our Rental Agreement and by our order-takers; therefore, the assertion of deceptive practices and consumer exploitation is invalid.

Liberty Dumpster made the transaction on 3-21-24 for $4143.90 for the service they provided on November 18th. ( they discount from my bank account until today $1719.05 *********** included dropping off and picking up the dumpster for the next two days, and it was charged 0.15 cent per pound. The dispute I filed is because they charged me for 9.7 tons of garden soil waste, which I handled myself in garbage bags (I have videos of the garden remodeling and the amount of bags that came out). The weight that Liberty dumpster says was collected is too much for reality. It is totally false that a 10-yard dumpster can hold more than 9 tons of garden soil, grass, wood, and brick blocks, which did not fill the dumpster.Liberty Dumpster did not want to resolve the situation and offered me a 10% discount for a future service, which is not going to happen.Liberty Dumpster's contract contains:Deceptive advertising.Hidden charges that are not in the contract.Prices they advertise on the Internet.I had not read the reviews until before obtaining the service.Business Response

After listening to the recorded call when the complainant placed the order, the complainant indicated that he would be placing "General Debris" in the dumpster, not soil and dirt, which is considerably heavier and cost more money to dump at the landfill. The charges are accurate and valid.
