STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK!!!! They are lying, sneaky thieves!!
I currently have a home equity line of credit with M&T bank
All statements I have received state that I am current with my payments
On August 19,2024 I made a payment in the amount of $1069.64 which they withdrew from my checking account, also with M&T bank
On October 24,2024 they reversed that payment and then called to say my account was 82 days past due
Since August I have continued to pay them 3,681.60, which they have also accepted, withdrew and credited to my account
I have bank statements and bills from them that state that payment was made on August 19, 2024
I don’t understand how, 2 months later, you can reverse a payment that you accepted and credited to my account! FRAUDS!!Business Response

I have late payments from M&T BANK on my credit report. I have been on time for 99% of my payments. The months that report a late payment was due to an ACH payment issue with my bank and I was never notified about it. I purchased a sofa sectional from an online vendor using my M&T bank card and did not receive the items I ordered and paid for. The vendor stated they would refund me, but never did. I filed a chargeback with my M&T bank card because I was scammed, it is fraud if you take someone’s money under false pretenses and then never give them the items they paid for, so I filed for a dispute with M&T to be able to get my money back. I provided M&T with receipts, shipping return numbers, and other proof that I did not receive the items I ordered, and they repeatedly lost my paperwork (even paperwork their bank manager submitted through fax at their bank branch), then rescinded my provisional credit and declined my chargeback appeal—my dispute shouldn’t have ever been closed (and hence needing to be appealed) in the first place and the only reason it was is because M&T only accepts supporting documentation by US **** (unless you go to a branch during business hours) and they subsequently lost my dossier of supporting documentation. The bank branch manager told me in person that my claim was open and that I needed to wait 90 days, but when I called, M&T customer care line told me my claim would not be opened because it “wasn’t fraud” because I purchased the item myself, even though I never received the items I purchased. They told me I had no protection and that I would have to sue the vendor myself to get my money back.Business Response

i forgot that i had locked my card and went to deposit some money today to pay a bill.it returned my money but not my debit card.i unlocked my card to make the depisit but i couldnt get my card from the thieving atm.they stole my debit card for no reason now i cant pay my bills because of these incompetent fools.this is not the first problem ive had with this deceptive bank but i promise,there wont be many more.so sick of there dirty practice and there is no one at the customer service i can talk to on a sunday yet they say they have 24 hour customer service agents.they need to return my damn card and pay any late fees i accrue.such a dirty deceptive bank.Business Response

I have been paying my mortgage recent month. However, M & T Bank not been applying the payments properly. In July I was told by M &T Bank that my payments were behind and to make payments current I needed to pay $491.00. Well, in July I paid M and T Bank $500...they did not apply the funds to bring mortgage current.
Instead of bringing my mortgage current as they stated, I received a phone call in September from M amd T Bank informing me that they have place my property in foreclosure on July 31,2024.
My property should have never been in foreclosure and situation must be correctedBusiness Response

I purchased gap insurance through m and t when I purchased my car. The car was totaled. M and t receive a pay out from ******** on 9/10/24. I am getting past due notices for payments on the balance. I have made four, hour long calls to M and T. Twice the result was “we handle it “ twice it was “we will look into it “. They have never followed up. I contacted the insurance company they use and was told M and T has not filed a claim. If they had, it would have been resolved in 2 days.Business Response

On 08/09, I went to the M&T branch at *** ******* ***** ******** *** to make a payment of $3,0000.00 towards my home equity loan account. I provided the teller with a payment slip for the account. I did not check at that moment if everything was correct, as I assumed the teller was appropriately trained to provide the service.
A few days later, I logged into my account page to verify that the payment had been credited. To my surprise, I noticed it hadn’t. I called the bank, and the agent informed me that the payment had apparently been posted to my mortgage account. I was told that the payment would be reversed and routed to my **** **** account and that it would take two weeks to process. A copy of check #****, paid on 08/12, is included.
After two weeks, I called customer service again, and the agent told me I had been given incorrect information. I was informed that the funds could not be routed back to my account; instead, I would receive a refund by check, which would take 2-3 weeks.
Three weeks passed, and I still had not received the check. I called again, demanding that this issue be resolved. I was transferred to a supervisor at the mortgage department, who told me that an investigation needed to be conducted and that someone would contact me. I have not heard anything since then.
To add to my frustration, on 10/12, the bank called my husband requesting a payment due to late payments. It is disheartening to witness the level of poor training, incompetence, mismanagement, and lack of capability among your staff.
What M&T Bank is doing is unacceptable, and I demand that this problem be resolved immediately.Business Response

I requested a review for a business line of credit. Weeks ago I was told to submit some financials. I was told that the person I was working w that her boss would get back to me. I checked on a response and was ignored. It is totally unprofessional and I don’t like having sent my financial information if I am not being considered for financing. My fiancee account was compromised in a government grant scam with a bad check. M&T froze her account. Because she sent money to me to pay bills through ******* all of my accounts with M&T were closed as well, including my business account and 2 personal accounts. I have not received correspondence or contactregarding the status of their investigation for 2 months despite calling them frequently. I am here to file complaint against m&t bank for giving me trouble over the phone trying to activate my debit card i couldn't activate it because they wanted me to come in to activate it and it says on the sticker call to activate i never seen a bank that wants to do this i gave them my ssn i gave them my last 4 of my account number they don't want appreciate me as a customer i wanted my atm debit card activated i wanted to give them some business by opening checking account this is the way they treat customers like me i can't go all the way to new york to activate this card it says on the sticker call to activate they have honor it or elseBusiness Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I am not interested in opening a new bank account this bank is a bunch of crooks they are dishonest closing my account without a reason why there is no reason why you all couldn't activate my debit card you just wanted more personal information from me i could gave it over the phone i can't fly all the way to new york i don't want no more accounts with this bank i hope you all closed your doors that is the way you treat your customers how do you get any business i am going to give word out what kind of bank you truly are
