      I was pressured into applying for a Home Equity Loan by loan officer Ryan S******* for several months, after advising Mr S******* that I was actively paying off debt, and was not ready to move forward with the application process.
      After repeated calls from Mr S******* into moving forward with my loan application, I expressed concerns over 1 out of 3 credit bureau scores, and Mr S******* made false statements as to which score would be used in order to move forward with my application on June 21, 2023.
      Mr S******* advised that my 2- debts would be combined into 1- low monthly payment, and that my debt to income ratio would not be a factor.
      I emailed Mr S******* all of my confidential income documents including pay stubs, W-2, pension , and I never received a confirmation of receipt, nor a confidential method of forwarding the income documents.
      On June 26, 2023, I contacted Mr S******* for a loan status update, and was advised that I was denied, based on the same factors
      I expressed concerns over if I would be negatively impacted. and Mr S******* sounded nervous, and advised he would be requesting explanations from under writers.
      I am requesting that an investigation and a review of the audio recordings into M T Bank’s deceptive business practices, in order to boost sales for their home equity lines of credit, at my expense.

      I have been a customer of this bank for around 15 years. 11 years ago I filed for bankruptcy which included a $200 overdraft line if credit with this bank which was written off. Recently I applied for a loan thinking all the years I spent as a loyal customer to this bank would count towards something, but I was denied a loan because of the $200 write off and was told M&T Bank would NEVER give me a loan because of this, even if I paid the bank back in full. This bank claims to want to help their customers and be there to help them grow, but this is absolutely untrue. M&T allowed me to waste valuable years with them and misled me to believe they would always be on my side.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. Please see the attached (I have also pasted the body of the letter below in case it does not attach). I have received your
      correspondence of July 3, 2023; however, I reject this correspondence because
      it has nothing to do with the issue I complained of. Clearly my complaint means
      nothing to M&T as it appears that no one bothered to read it in its
      entirety, rather they focused on the issue of the loan denial. The issue here is
      not the denial of the loan, the issue here is that M&T claims “we
      strive to exceed our customers’ expectations with superior quality and service” however, this was completely untrue in my situation, and I feel that M&T
      has discriminated against their customers due to financial status and with
      their false advertising. Yes, I applied for a loan and
      was denied simply because of a $208.58 write off which occurred 7.5 years ago.
      When I asked if they would think about providing me with a loan if I paid this
      amount in full, I was told that I could not pay the loan off and that M&T
      would NEVER give me a loan because of this minimal write off. If
      M&T “strives to exceed customers expectations with superior quality and
      service”, why is this not an option? I can’t believe that M&T could
      back this quote and advertise this when a customer who has been with them for
      15 years can not ever get a loan from them because of a measly $208.58 write
      off. Your advertisement and logos are false advertising. Also, nowhere in any
      paperwork, nor when I opened any accounts with M&T was I told that if a Revolving
      Line of Credit was written off, that I would not be able to receive any loans
      from the bank, EVER. Again, 15 years of my life I spent building a rapport
      with M&T, and this is the thanks I get. Had I known this was going to be
      the issue, I would have left M&T 7.5 years ago so I could start building a
      rapport with a bank that actually strives to help their customers and grow with
      them, as a bank should. I am very unhappy with M&T,
      and I believe that your false advertising is dishonorable. I cannot see how you
      can strive to exceed customers expectations when you deny a long-term
      customer of ever getting a loan for a tiny write off such as mine. 7.5 years ago, I went through a
      rough time, I had lost my job and am a single parent of 2 children, so I fell
      behind in bills and had to claim bankruptcy. During this bankruptcy, I was told
      that everything had to be written off except my house and my car, so this is
      what I did. I followed my attorney’s instructions. I didn’t think that M&T
      would be so greedy that a $208.58 write off would end in them denying any loans
      I may need/want in the future. Basically, when the write off occurred, this
      severed ties between myself and the bank, except I could continue to deposit my
      money with them. It became a one-sided gain in favor of M&T. Through advertising and the
      bank representatives I spoke with when I opened my account with M&T, I felt
      assured that M&T would want to grow with me and assist in my future
      financial needs/wants. Apparently, I was misled, and this is where we are now.
      I personally believe that there could have been several solutions to this, but
      M&T did not want to even explore these options, including me paying the
      bank back. I believe that the logo that M&T strives “to exceed our
      customers’ expectations with superior quality and service” would mean that
      they would work with me during my hard times and my good times, but again,
      clearly this is not the case. I believe that going forward,
      M&T should verbally disclose this information to their customers upon the
      opening of any account, and also mail out this disclosure to all current
      customers, highlighting this fact. I am sure that if this had been done
      initially, M&T would not have as many customers as they do now. M&T is
      running on false pretenses to their customers and hiding this information for
      their own personal gain. Please respond to my
      correspondence as soon as possible. If you would like to discuss this matter

      regarding account ending **** - I am requesting a refund of for an ********* from oer 3 months ago from ***** ** ** *****. it was an unauthorized transaction that was taken out of my account when it was at a ZERO balance. I notified the company well a week prior to inform them to not use my checking account for the auto deduction because of loss of wages, and there was not going to be any money in my account to cover it. They did so anyway. I notified you guys IMMEDIATELY TO put in a request for them to refund the funds back into my account and to further dispute. I wasn't even offered any provisionary credit its over 3-5 months later and I am still waiting for my money returned I have had a bad experience with you guys since the beginning. Especially with the so called OVERDRAFT Protection. You have failed me as a customer on so many occasions that I honestly tried to work things through but after declining items or important bills I needed approved and then laterAPPROVING $600+ from check n' go loan company that was enough for me and then to do it to me AGAIN recently a little over a month ago I believe w/Xfinity. I paid off the $600+ neg that was on my account only to be dealing with another negative $178 that I've been paying off little by little doing odd and ends jobs... until I get my first pay check from my new job after being unemployed for several months. Lastly, A friend of mine sent a ***** payment of $150 that was supposed to be for my daughter's account ending ****. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case! IT WENT TO THE WRONG ACCOUNT. He and I both asked for his money to be returned back to him and you guys declined his request!! HOW HEARTLESS IS THAT. that negative balance has nothing to do with him nor my daughter for that matter. I spoke with a very RUDE representative who started out nice but ended up rude. I asked for a supervisor and she/Crystal TOLD ME NO. I have witnesses and family who was there.

      M&T BANK has not taken the necessary steps to refund me $611 from the transaction they allowed to go through by check and go. I’ve disputed this on numerous occasions and told it will be taken care of. It never was only to follow with this business Better Business Bureau complaint with them showing me how overdraft protection work as I stated they allowed over $600 to go through without my consent. I notified check and go prior to the last transaction that M&T BANK allowed to go through and I told them that the funding would not be there they intern  processed a payment anyway M&T BANK intern approved the overdraft there was not enough money in my savings account to cover over $611. I paid off that negative balance of over $611 and whatever since was old and I am still waiting for my  refund my dispute to be completed as per what was advised to me. I called the office of the president at M&T BANK returned her telephone call left her a voicemail message for her to call me back and what time would be suitable for me to speak with her I never got a call back. going forward if the office of the president of M&T BANK would like to speak to me directly I can be reached anytime after 4:30 PM Eastern standard time at ************. Lastly, my friend did dispute it with his bank, who intern told him that I would have to be the one to dispute that **** payment and reversed that $150 back into his account, but at this point forget about the $150 and give me back my $611 that I had to that I had to pay M&T BANK for their error of  allowing that much money to be approved. It’s mighty funny they wouldn’t approve my overdraft of $10 or $20 for a bill that I really need paid and covered but yet they allowed check and go to process an unauthorized payment and approve it in my orange overdraft protection of wish I had no money, zero balance, and both accounts, the savings and checking.So I should not have to suffer the consequences of MNT banks error just give me back my $611. Regards,

      Hello, In regards to me having spoken to *** *******, Customer Advocacy ************ of M&T Bank? No I have not spoken with her as of yet. She left a message on my mobile voicemail. I then responded thereafter and made her aware as I just did in response to her follow yesterday 7/6/23 on BBB site - Making her aware of the best time to contact me which is after work 4:30 PM et.  That was several weeks ago and I still have not heard back from her. In regards to my request to giving Mr. ****** ****** his money back and me being refunded the $611+ dollars I disputed and was told that I would get my money back; The information that *** attached in her response is not sufficient, appears to be generic, and an insult to my intelligence.  Every time I mentioned or inquired in the past to M&T about what they did as far as my Overdraft Protection "I'm supposed to have" or only be approved for any amount so long as "I had enough in my savings to cover it" - No one could give a clear explanation of why it happened on 10.18.22 (NOT THE ONE AS STATED BY ***) or was approved when I clearly DID NOT have money in either of my accounts to cover $611+ dollars!! & THAT I also notified and requested the merchant to cease further auto ACH from my bank account because I didn't have the money to cover.  The merchant agreed but later still took money using an unknown check # on 10.18.23 (please see attachments). I just want my $611.86 back into my account.  There are other transactions that came through on my account without my permission "especially" while I was unemployed from FULL-TIME employment from last Oct. 2022 to this June 2023. My account is currently negative $-28 as en end result of what has normally happens on my account "OVERDRAFT PROTECTION" w/no funds available in my savings account. But when I applied for a line of credit for my overdraft protection "I was denied". Yet no one could / would get back to me about the return of my $611.86 (since I paid back an error on the bank's part-because as I stated I did not authorize check and go to pull any more money from my account.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined ONCE AGAIN that this does not resolve my complaint for my refund.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below and in the attachments which include you're previous attached document entitled, "*********** ***************** ******* ***********".  I regret to inform you (M&T)that your responses have nothing to do with the date of the actual Disputed ACH and I have mentioned this by phone with the representative you sent to call me because you "***" were not available or was going to be out of the office for a time yet you're responding to this BBB complaint. Clearly this needs to be taken a step further.  All I want is my $611.96 that I paid to M&T Bank for an error on their (M&T Bank's fault) not mine.  I knew I wasn't going to have the funds which was why I contacted ******** and asked them to reframe from taking any money because I was out of work and would make them in person until further notice (they okayed it) yet, took money anyway that was NOT there CLEARLY (PLEASE LOOK AT MY ATTACHED BANK STATEMENTS)....  WHEN YOU READ THEM YOU WILL SEE THAT THERE WAS NO REASON FOR M&T BANK TO APPROVE THE OVERDRAFT OF $611.96 when AS you stated in the previous response/package I WAS DENIED for other overdraft options, line of credit, etc. As my statement shows there was nothing in my checking nor savings to cover that UNAUTHORIZED ACH! I just want my $611.96 refunded back to me from M&T Bank! asap. This is going on for far too long enough is enough! Please stop trying to find reasons for why you guys messed up and own up to it.  Lastly, as far as $150 that my friend wanted returned to him but you guys made him pay for a negative bal. that was on my account.       -I got a HELOC with M&T bank in early 2021 for $175K. In July of 2021 I used almost $25K and I repaid the amount by December 2022.
      -When the HELOC was issued I was advised that if I closed it before 3 years I would pay the administrative cost, however they also advised that if I wanted to sell the house and move I could transfer the HELOC to my new home without any cost as this would be a transfer so long as I was not going to close the account
      -About 2 weeks ago I went to the bank to ask for the HELOC transfer as I moved to a new home and was planning to sell my old home.
      -The person at the bank advised that the individual who informed me that I could transfer the HELOC was mistaken as it cannot be transferred but asked the branch manager if anything could be done and he advised we could open a new HELOC for the new home and in that case he would waive the closing fees for the old house HELOC around $900.
      -We agreed that was how we would proceed until a few days ago I got a call from the bank official advising me that the waiver of the closing fees was not approved by bank management and I would have to pay the fee
      -I filed a complaint with the bank and received a call today advising me that they investigated the case and found that I was mis-informed by M&T bank official when I opened the account and that individual would be coached. They advised that they would be willing to do a partial waiver where they would waive around$250 and I would need to pay the balance about $650
      -When I pointed out that their investigation revealed that I was wrongly informed by a bank employee and that the bank should waive the entire closing fee the caller advised that the bank employee would be coached and they apologize for that but they would only waive the $250.
      -I believe this is not just and that the entire amount should be waived as I wanted to transfer the HELOC to the new home and not close it

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Thank you for your offer however I decline to accept it for the following: -On opening my HELOC in 2021 I was informed by the bank associate at the signing that I could transfer the HELOC if I decided to sell my house and move to a new house without needing to pay the fees and that I could transfer the HELOC -When I went to the *** ***** branch it was not to close the HELOC but to transfer it as I had been told -They then advised me that the HELOC could not be transferred but needed to be closed and a new one opened for the new house but the branch manager would waive the fees for the old HELOC if I opened a new one -About two weeks later I was advised that the bank had decided not to waive the fees for closing the HELOC opened in 2021 which I had wanted to transfer -I then called M&T to file a complaint and customer advocacy Stephanie D**** called me after a couple of days to say M&T bank had investigated my complaint and that I was wrongly informed at signing that the HELOC was transferable which it is not and that they would re-train the branch employee and that they would waive around $285 on condition that I open a new HELOC for the new house. I was misinformed by the bank employee at signing and M&T bank knows that after checking.  I am willing to open a new HELOC with M&T only in the case of waiving the entire fee and not one third ($285).

      On June 6, I opened an ******** Checking Account with M&T online, enrolled in Online Banking, and gave my account info to my employer for direct deposit. On June 13, I received my debit card. I opened the account online because it would be difficult for me to go to a branch in person.

      On June 15, I expected a direct deposit from my employer, but I didn't see it in my account. So that day, I called M&T to check the status. The agent said the deposit was pending and it could post any time that day. She told me to call back the next morning if it hadn’t posted to my account by midnight.

      The next morning, the deposit still wasn’t in my account, so I called M&T again. The agent thanked me for being a valued customer and asked if I'd consent to use voice recognition to verify my identity each time I called. I was caught off guard not sure if I wanted to consent or what it would mean, but I said “okay I guess”. After looking into the direct deposit, she said my account was in the process of being closed, so the deposit was rejected and sent back to my employer.

      She couldn’t tell me what happened or why and said, if I tried to make any transactions on my account at this point, it would be rejected. She told me to contact my employer for the money and to go to an M&T branch to open a new/different account.

      There was a $100 bonus offer when I opened my account, so I asked if I would still be eligible for it. She did not know if would still be eligible, I'd have to go to a branch to check.

      Since going to a branch would be difficult for me, I tried to see if I could resolve the matter via M&T Secure Message. I sent a secure message on June 17 asking about my account closure. On June 20, I received a reply instructing me to go to a branch.

      Today, my account still appears open. I'm unsure what's happening. I'd like it if the account could just be open, I could receive direct deposits from my employer, and I could receive the bonus that was stated when I opened the account.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. 

      In the response, M&T stated that they will collect documentation that is required for account opening and that they were unable to fully authenticate my identity and personal information such as email address, mailing address, and/or phone number upon online account opening. At no point in the opening process was I asked for documentation or asked to take any steps to authenticate my identity. If there was an issue with authentication, or if they needed more information or documentation for me, I feel they should have either 1) not approved the opening of the account or 2) informed me of the situation and given me steps to take rather than not giving any indication that there was an issue and then closing the account without notice. Not only was there no notification or communication about authentication issues or the fact that the account was in the process of closing, but I kept receiving emails welcoming me to my new account throughout the "closing process" and even after the account had been completely closed.The response also indicated that the terms allow M&T to close a deposit account for any reason. I accept those terms, but I would have thought the account holder would be notified that an account was being closed. I also find it odd that they would open an account only to immediately start the process of closing it. It makes me wonder if it is a regular practice to approve the opening of accounts only to close them right after rather than just reject applications. Surely, if this whole situation was a security/fraud issue, it would be better not to open the account in the first place if they couldn't authenticate my identity.

      To whom it may concern:
      In July of 2022 I purchased a Motor Home from Holiday World of Dallas, Texas and they used your bank to provide me with financing for this transaction. It seemed nice at the time. Since that time, I have periodically received mail at my physical address. I can tell this because I use a USPS service that allows me to preview the envelope of the mail arriving. As you can see on the attachment, the USPS has this
      physical address flagged with the notation:

      I first contacted Holiday World of Dallas to see if they made a mistake on the address but when I examined the loan application, it had the correct mailing address I contacted M&T bank at (800) 724-7450, went through a lengthy telephone menu trying to find someone that could verify the address for me. I had no luck. I called multiple times over multiple months and gave up. I thought that SURELY SOMEONE would notice that mail was being RETURNED AND NOT DELIVERED. So far, this does not appear to have happened and M&T Bank continues to send mail to an incorrect address.  Today, I tried one more time. I failed to write down the name of the nice lady that helped me. She spent a great deal of time in researching the problem. She finally was able to find the problem. She said that M&T Bank does not send mail to USPS Post Office Boxes. In this day and age when diversity and anti-discrimination is the order of the day, I find it interesting that M&T Bank discriminates against a government agency that is pushing diversity I Even more interesting that M&T Bank uses Post Office Box addresses for its own purposes.       I opened an account online in June 2023 with M&T. I noticed with my online banking on 06/16/23 that my direct deposit had not hit my account. I went to the local branch and was told that the account had been set for closure because it had been flagged by financial crimes. He then explained because the account was set up online but I could set up another account there at the branch. I received no communication from M&T that my account had been flagged for anything or that it had been set for closure. Now my direct deposit was three different deposits from my employers payroll company ADP. The total of the three deposits was around $8500. I opened another account there in the manager’s office and my company sent over another direct deposit for $1212.87 to the new account. The next day went to the bank and again there was no money in the account. I spoke to the manager again and he explained that the deposit was rejected because the account was too new and had not been validated. Now we are at 06/20/2023 and still no one can explain where any of my money is. I called the complaint department and inquired as to where my deposits were since my company and payroll company had not received anything back. I was told that the only people within M&T that could let me know exactly where my money was are in the “Back Office”. I requested to speak to them and was told that I am not allowed to speak with anyone in the “Back Office”.

      Issue is regarding M&T ATM use. If an atm transaction is canceled or for whatever reason the atm is not functioning properly it will still deduct the funds from your account to be hopefully returned at an unknown time. Meanwhile due to daily atm withdrawal limits you are not eligible for another transaction. Now I'm being charged for checks bouncing since those funds were not appropriated according to my required bill payments. M&T should be liable for these charges.

      I believe that the mortgage company is committing fraud. I notice that my mortgage payment increases every year. My mortgage has increased from $811 to $1007. 83 since my loan was sold to M&T Bank. I called M&T Bank asked why, the bank first said that my taxes may have went up and I said no, the customer rep checked said that my insurance premium was $1800 and I said no my premium is $ 1163 I changed plans, my home owner insurance has never been $1800 and I should have received a escrow refund check and he stated that he will have to verify the insurance amount and asked me if I received the refund check and I told him no, the rep verified that they had the refund and called my home insurance company with me on three way and my insurance agent told the rep that my home insurance with $1163. M&T Bank insurance claim rep told me that they will make the adjustment and send me another statement. I never received my refund escrow check and when my mortgage statement was adjusted to $946.65 for July 1,2023 but was not adjusted for 6/1/2023. I had to pay the $1007.83 I call back to M&T Banking after I notice my mortgage statement stating that my insurance was $1433.00 which means my monthly mortgage payment is still wrong. I told the claim rep and he told me that he will have to verify my insurance premium with my insurance company before he could fix the problem. Asked about my escrow check and he ask me several time if I cashed the check and I said no I never received the check yall have it and he stated that was a refund for us you need to call you insurance company and have them send you another check. I believe that I am a victim of mortgage fraud with this company and would like to have every penny that I have paid in escrow overage return back to me because of M&T bank inaccrately reporting my insurance premium to increase my monthly mortgage payment to get extra money, I want my bill adjusted right, and I want my escrow refund that they are not trying to give me
