      We have applied for mortgage a few week back. Their website portal was showing it's under review. No update, no email, no mail for any updates. Later, they are saying we tried to reach you by phone. No apologies, nothing. Very unprofessional.

      We have had M & T Bank for our mortgage company for the last 2 years. We ran into an issue financially when my wife lost her job and have asked for help from them for the last 10 months. We have filled out paperwork at least 4 times only to be told that it would have to be redone because something on forms were not right. We have done the "electronic" requests for help at least 2 times, all to be told that we do not qualify for any "relief" program they offer. The most recent request was denied "due to VA requirements". They could not elaborate on what that means.
      I am a disabled vet, hence the VA loan. We figured being a disabled Vet they would try to at least help a little, they have not. We have been told the they can not help, nothing they can do, we don't meet qualifications for their programs. When we ask what are we lacking just told pretty much same answers as always.
      We asked about the VASP program that is supposed to be available on 10/1/24 and they have it on "hold".

      Understand regulations but this bank is not the place to be.
      Even after presenting verification they still insist I need more.
      Even Their system has my history and data from past 43 years.
      So so sad. Time to move on

      As all other loan companies your payments are DUE once a month. Or you get called and past due payment notices before 10 days.
      When you PAY OFF your loan you may or may not see your title for MONTHS if at all unless you call. Whenever you call …You get a person at home in a different state office every single time. CALL BACK.
      I’m 67 yo. I’m going to be ashes in the ocean after a heart attack from all the mumbo jumbo I’m dealing with! My children will need a BOOK to get my RV Title.

      Started banking with M&T after leaving another bank. Started my account online because hours didn’t align with my schedule. Wasn’t informed that i had to come in to verify my info to access my money I deposited in the bank. Later deposited a check and was told it will be available the next day. 4 days later and still not able to access that money. Called CS and they told me since i was new i had to wait at least a week to get my money. This bank has been nothing but headaches after starting an account. Don’t recommend banking with M&T if you plan on using your money

      9/26 I opened my account, and nothing looks wrong. There was no hint I needed further action or documents.
      9/29 I received a DocuSign email, filled it and scanned my ID online.
      10/2 I still cannot fund the account, all my deposits have been reversed. M&T csr says "it's still under review that's why it's frozen. You can wait until Thursday to call back."
      10/4 My two savings accounts that I used to fund the M&T account both got reversed and frozen (that I have to call each to resolve it). I called M&T again asking if I could close the account and delete everything I had with them. Their rep told me I cannot do anything unless I go to a branch. The closest branch is 30min away and only open 9 to 4.
      10/7 Called 3rd time. After 3 phone holds and transfers to 'another department', they told me the account ban has been lifted on 10/5 but I have to "call another fraud department to lift the online client ban". Here we go again on the 4th call.
      M&T is the biggest joke I ever knew.

      I see M&T has a 1.09 star rating. Should be a MINUS 1.09. I opened a checking account in response to a $500 Promo offer (Code UC). I messaged Support to ask which types of checking accounts were eligible to receive the UC offer. I received (after 3 day) a non-response from a CSR. I asked once again and was informed I was not eligible for the UC offer due to my resident Zipcode.
      M&T could have 1) flagged the offer upon my initial signup or 2) informed me of ineligibility in their first CSR response.
      I had already direct deposited the required $1000+ amt. into the account, so my other course of action was to withdraw the $1000 deposit.
      I was flagged by the system and informed I had to contact customer service BY PHONE. Upon doing so (15 minutes of back and forth meaningless chit chat), I was further informed the account was flagged by their fraud department. (bear in mind I was simply trying to tie an external bank to the account (standard procedure online with every other bank I have joined) and I would have to speak with them.
      I spent another 30 minutes with their fraud department, who after 3 tries, managed to allow the bank to bank transfers.
      Later that day, I tried to make a bank to bank transfer and once again, I was blocked and told I had to contact Customer Service by phone. At that point, I gave up.
      I have several online accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, etc., etc., M&T has managed to put itself at the bottom of my list of banks with whom I will do business. What a nightmare. AVOID AT ALL COSTS (unless you have a local walk-in branch open during their limited hours) and they are giving a large inducement to deal with them.

      I have a loan on an RV through M & T bank. They have locked me out of my account because my wife was taking care of the bill. I called to try to get it unlocked and they refused! They will not let me back into my account even though I called to take the block off. The woman I spoke with said I have to go into the branch closest to me to get it unlocked. I live in Montana! There are no branches close to me! Then she said I could call the branch closest to me and FaceTime with someone to get my account unblocked! I should be able to unblock my account over the phone and authorize my wife to be able to pay the bill. I have never dealt with anything so ridiculous in my life. I work all week and do not have time to call and FaceTime with someone at a bank so I can pay my bill. I will be refinancing with my bank ASAP. Do not get a loan through these people. Their app and online banking is a joke as well.

      I would give zero stars if allowed, this is the most corrupt bank I have ever dealt with. They flagged and shut down my account for a fraudulent check ( which was not a fraudulent check it was a payroll check) it took weeks for them to unlocked my account. Then today they closed out my account with out my consent. Do not bank with them! Not to mention I had direct deposit so my money is lost at the moment.
