Horrifying Bank Practices!! Continuously being locked out of my account in every which way for absolutely no reason and then there is no 24 hours customer service so you are forced to not be able to access your own money and account until whenever they are open for business! And when you do talk to a rep they say they don’t see a reason why your being locked out and your just left with no reason or answer over and over again.. I advise every single customer to abandon this bank immediately before your money disappears!! It’s happening everyday now where financial institutions are stealing the customer money and I believe this is the first signs of legitimate illegal practices are beginning to show! The FBI needs to get involved immediately before it’s too late!!M&T Bank

Transferred $1,960.00 from my ***** Bank account to M&T Bank, just like I did the previous month to pay my mortgage with M&T bank. After a week, I realized money my funds nevered arrived at receiving-end, M&T. After spending hours on the phone and being transferred from representative to representaive to online dept, retail call center and mortgage dept. and even a clueless manager, apparently my funds got lost in their system and they cannot find or track my transfer of funds. After blaming my initiating bank, I provided them with proof of payment and a trace number and still they were unable to find my money. I might be wasting my time writing this, cause who really cares anymore. These banks do what they want to do anyway and then say it was an error. But after reading other horrific reviews here, I see I am not alone. This is my second complaint with M&T Bank and also second complaint filed with the New York State Department of Financial Services. Hopefully enough complaints will entice them to get more efficient systems in place in order to avoid lost money transfers.M&T Bank

THIS IS DAY 4 of my odyssey with this archaic bank. THEY ALLOWED FRAUD to occur even AFTER alerting me to unusual activity. Bravo for seeing the suspicious sign ins. Then what? Lunch time??? So I have now spent LITERALLY LITERALLY LITERALLY 6 hours on hold over the course of four attempts to close my account and start a new one. When I get someone, they are pleasant and kind but no one has helped me. Every morning, I wake up to the same exact issue despite the HOURS I spent the day before in an attempt to rectify. I have now spent a fortune in long distance phone calls from abroad. I was LITERALLY LITERALLY LITERALLY on hold for two hours until I finally hung up realizing that I was in an alternate universe. I called my branch and they said 'well ya'll got to come in." Wow, you LIVE in the lake town where many people are summer people. I HATE HATE HATE THIS BANK you are RUINING MY LIFE -- I can't work...ALL DAY ON HOLD. LITERALLY LITERALLY LITERALLY -- Once I get a person, they are quite kind, So I'll add that to my horrible experience.M&T Bank

This bank has made multiple errors including putting a 3,000 check into somebody else’s account and not being able to retrieve it. During the process of trying to correct there problems my account was hacked and I lost all access to check it or do any online banking. They just overdrew my account 2,800 due to more errors made by them. And are not allowing me to pay in payments and threatening to put me in collections for a mistake made by them. If what they are saying is even accurate. They are not holding themselves accountable. Please use another bank if you work hard for your moneyM&T Bank

1 starNot only do they not honor people's bank accounts' terms, the time it takes to process payments is several days at times instead of immediately showing up on the apps or websites they encourage you to get. My local post-people's atm has been down for 2 days. I cant deposit cadh or checks unless I leave work, it use to be convenient and a selling point. Im goin elsewhere soon. First I was trying to close my accounts because customer service is horrible and the APP never never works. So I go into a branch and was greeted with attuide so i wanted my checking and savings account closed. I was keeping my secure card open so I had 200 hundred and some change left in this acct. I told him to put that money into my secured card acct. Monday comes along and my accts are still open and my funds disappeared. What kind of business is this...now i have to go back to this bank because when i called the 800 number they said they cant help. I dont understand this....close your accts this is the worst bank ever!!!!!M&T Bank

Ever since M&T took over people’s it’s been nothing but problems. They lied when they said the merger would not impact customer accounts. Our HELOC principle and interest arrangement has been changed without notification, as a result my extra weekly principle payments have been getting eaten by interest as they are not applying to the principle as originally set up by people’s. This has been the problem for 2 months now. Customer service is terrible and they don’t resolve anything or follow up. They are not honoring what I originally agreed to, costing me thousands in lost principle payments to interest and higher interest costs as a result. As far as I’m concerned M&T owes me misappropriated principle and interest. Their practices are purely predatory. Not to mention the endless problems with the cards and a totally confusing app. Never had a problem with peoples bank for 10+ years. Time to go through the hassle of switching banks before I’m so far in the hole I can’t get ahead. There should be a class action suit filed.M&T Bank

This bank doesn’t give you an option to pay towards the principal of your auto loan. They try to keep you stuck in your contract as long as possible. Every other bank I’ve had a loan with I could just call and speak with an representative and they’ll take the principal payment over the phone with no problems.M&T Bank

I have a mortgage with M&T and somehow after I paid my mortgage it bounced back. I had no idea cause I got the confirmation that my payment went through from them. Well they decided to wait 32 days to contact me to let me know it was 30 days late. Which I didn’t understand because I paid it and got the notification from them that it was paid. So I checked into it so that somehow it didn’t go through. So I paid it immediately. They put a 30 day late on my credit. I haven’t been late or not paid one thing in the last 15 years and have had excellent credit. because of this mistake that wasn’t anyone’s fault apparently. It made me lose 100 points on my credit. And they refused to remove it. Then they had the audacity to call me up to ask me if they can be my lender because I’m a realtor I wouldn’t use you or refer you if my life depended upon it. They even saw that the mistake happen. And are OK with screwing up my credit. I wouldn’t recommend them to a cockroach. What’s funny is they could’ve contacted me on day 29 I could’ve paid it and this would’ve never happened. It’s just so convenient!!!M&T Bank

Thanks to mandtbank they decided to cancel my card after a fraud alert I was not notified on my card getting canceled. Found out when I try to use my card and thanks to them missed a day of work. I been having issues with mandtbank alot more now and getting ready to find another bank so please watch your accountM&T Bank
